Rickety Translocator with Elk tip

• Upvotes

Apologies if this is already well known, but I couldn't find anyone talking about it.

I saw an issue on the github bug tracker where it was discussed how Elk cannot currently be moved through the Rickety Translocator and that they would also be stuck in the Transporter Room on Tobias' side. It is possible to ride Elk to take them through normal Translocators, but not the Rickety one.

After playing around with it for some time, I found that a way to circumvent this restriction is to hop on the Rickety Translocator and blow the Bone Flute. The Elk seems to do the distance check a fair bit of time before actually trying to path to the player. This results in it teleporting with you into the Translocator Room in Tobias' cave after you teleport there. You just need to run out of the cave and blow the Flute again to make it teleport out.

When going back to your base, you can park the Elk at the cave entrance and blow the Flute again as you step onto the Translocator. The Elk should still be close enough to satisfy the distance check and then it will teleport back to your Translocator at your base.

Question (Poll) What items are in biggest demand, no matter how far you've progressed?

• Upvotes

Hello folks, I am nearing completion of a horror mod for the almost here holiday.

I am in need of some feedback on one aspect of the game. The rewards that come with a risk.

What category of items or specific items continue to be in high demand throughout your playthroughs?

What motivates you the most to venture into a dangerous cave or outside during a temporal storm?

If your answer is not on the poll, do feel free to share in the comments instead.

"And if you don't wanna?"

Well, have a nice Halloween.

Ruined Windmill!

Started a new world, and found a ruined windmill immediately. Found aome cool stuff, and everything i needed for early ages was nearby, so I set up my jammed earth hut nearby.

Come nightfall, my sanity starts plummeting! I had to run away until sunrise. Broke down the hut, moves another 50 blocks away, thought I was good. NOPE! Next night, same thing. Do ruins normally do this?! How far away do I have to be?

Question I made a bunch of leather, what can I use it for?

Over my first winter I got really focused on making leather and now I have more than 3 stacks of it. I've made myself some leather armour but then ran into the issue of having no idea how to use the rest of the leather.

Modding Mod request/idea: drying mushrooms and wild plant seasonality

I cant code but the fact that no one has made this yet is driving me nuts, so I'm hoping someone might pick this up.

I collect mushrooms in real life and one of the best ways to store them long term is to clean them and string them up in garlands to dry somewhere with good airflow. Dehydrators are faster and easier but this is how I was taught.

The mushrooms in vintage story are strangely long lived in storage anyways, I'd just like to have to actually clean my finds and store them correctly to make the most out of my foraged foods. Also garlands of drying mushrooms would look great in any autumnnal kitchen.

This could be expanded into sun drying foods on mats or baskets and having to worry about scavengers and bad weather. Jerky, stock fish, dried fruit... The possibilities are there.

Secondly, I would really like it if there was a way to make certain plants only available in specific times of the year. Some form of fresh green in spring, to ward off winters malnutrition, berries and fruit in summer, mushrooms, nuts roots in autumn. This would make preserving what you can horde much more important. It has always bothered me a little that hunger is basically solved halfway through your first year. Let me roleplay a struggling subsistence farmer, damn it!

If anyone picks this up, please let me know! Also, what ways of food preservation are common in your neck of the woods that you would like to see added?

Question How do I pick up a filled trap?

I’m a very new player and I can’t figure out how to pick this up. It has a rooster in it. I have empty item spots but when I walk over it nothing happens. I can’t seem to click or interact with it at all. I dug the blocks under it and it just fell down. Still can’t get it

Mods for mining

I’m new to the game, and I’m looking to just have fun with the more interesting mechanics. I don’t have a ton of time for sessions so mining is a really tedious and annoying task that is really off-putting. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to make this experience easier? I’ve struggled my way up to the early copper age and I’m stuck cuz I can’t find no mo copper :(

Question Pit Kiln suddenly won't stay lit

I'm honestly at a loss as I've never had an issue like that before and can't find any info online for this specific issue

Out of no where, some of my pit kilns won't remain lit anymore. After a few minutes slightly away, I return to check on them and at least one out of three return to unlit

They are covered and properly made (been playing for 1-2 years) I've also tried breaking and remaking it. The bug seems to target one specific pit kiln out of the three, though sometimes affecting a second one as well.

Even weirder, at one point I placed my torch in between two of them, only to turn around and see that the torch is gone

The only thing different ive done recently was mess around with VSPT (which I've properly uninstalled) and installed the crow bros mods. Removing both mods haven't fixed the issue. I've also tried cleaning the cache folder.

Wondering if anyone's ever seen this or have any idea, I can't really keep playing because of this bug :(

Server Velkravia, a long term bastion for players.

Greetings, I am Lord Tony Macaroni. Leading my country with Lady Tonya Macaroni on my left, and my right hand being Jim Lahey.

We are living in a land of hospitality. We are slowly expanding our castle and furnishing when we can. We have the ability to make steel, decorations, surpluses of food. However, we lack the hands necessary. Under our previous Lord, we lost citizens who wanted to start their own settlement. Their city collapsed. We seek to replace, and expand beyond our original population.

Myself, Lady Tonya, Sir Jim Lahey, Sir Lion, Rom, and Ham are the civilization. We have existed for over a month now. With infrastructure built, resources, but it all depletes rapidly. We seek builders, farmers, smithies, any type of person. While we do have a country started, this is truly on the beginning of the reign of Velkravia. We are in the center of the world surrounded by the different countries. The Dwarves, recovering First Rest, the Vikings, and some more. There is a diverse group, and lots of different mods that you can view on the discord.

If you're looking for a group you can make your own character, name, and personality, even if it's your own, message me :D As Lord, I find it important to listen to my citizens when it comes to long term plans. I have a vision set now that the previous Lord has gone missing. (Lore but he is actually gone)

I often felt worried about joining a server that was too far along, dead, as poor timezones, or was going to inherently wipe and know that it was all for nothing. But I really is more fun to play with friends, even the ones you haven't made yet. While there is the ability to get high level equpitment with us, or even other Countries, building a settlement requires so many resources and it's constantly a constraint. Truly the only thing we have a complete handle on is the food situation, water situation, and keeping everything locked up.

I also promise as Lord of Velkravia that I will stay active and really want to make a great group and invest in it, even if over time maybe you want to spread your wings and do your own thing. Also Lady Tonya Macaroni is my actual wife. She's the one who even got me started playing this game and it's my favorite even after over 2 years now.

Question Game is stuttering badly

Tl;dr How do I check which mod is making my game stutter?

So I recently got a new PC, and started a new game. Downloaded a bunch of mods, worked fine, I have about 2 hours in a world, and now if I launch my world, it runs at like, 30 frames.

It's weird though, because Steam says it's running at 90 still. I open my settings, and see the graph looking like this. I cannot imagine that's good.

So my question is, how do I figure out which mod is doing this? I really don't want to have to go through my modlist one by one and see, surely there's a better way?

(Deleted last post because I suddenly could no longer see comments. EruTheTeapot was also seeing comments no longer load. As an apology, here's a peak at a new station!)

As you all know, ive been descending into the madness of chiseling. No, I am not just chiseling my life away. I am chiseling my life essence away!

Running on 4hrs of sleep a day, caffeine, cheeze-itz, and probably other things I dont remember; I have almost brought my new chisel mod to a full 1.0.x. This has been tested in creative and survival with a friend, and is now being tested on a server.

While myself and EruTheTeapot work on modeling of tools and utilities, I want you all to know that I am VERY excited to bring this to you guys! I have been holding out on an early release because there was many bugs, and incorrect actions to intentions. But now, I feel confident that this is just about ready for release.

(Final preparations include: recipe crafting, utility additions, and compatibility building.)

Soon, we can ALL descend into the madness that is my chiseling. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, there'll be some secrets on a later release that will lead you on a journey for more materials. Intense sleepless staring

To answer a question from the previous post, this is compatible with chisel tools. Ill have a handbook guide and information about this compatibility posted on the ModDB.

Modding [Modding] What is the radius around the player in which the game spawns animals using 'runtime' (not worldgen)? - Even if view distance is set to max (1500)

I can't find definitively what the radius is. ChatGPT swears its 384, google AI said something different. 384 seems to be somewhat accurate but I can't prove it.
