Meeting people for poker: game planned for Nov 7th

• Upvotes

Posting again to see if there are any new faces interested in playing some poker. Aiming to get a first game going on Nov 7th at a location in Burnaby. The format will be two sit and go tournaments. I’ve messaged with some people on this sub, and if you are still interested shoot me a message and we can work out the details.

Looking to have a good group of people together. The vibe would best suit people who enjoy sports, hanging out and playing some poker. I’m into health and fitness as well as sports gambling and martial arts. And if you need me to call you by your preferred pro-noun, we are just not going to get along.

Shoot me message if you are down to play.

Anywhere 24F looking for friends / a friend group

Heyyy! I moved from the UK to Vancouver and I’m looking to expand my social circle and hopefully find my people here!

I love concerts, R&B, house, hip hop, rap, bars, breweries, clubbing, movies and just having a good time. I’m equally down for a chill night in, grabbing food or going out for drinks and dancing. Basically, I want people who can do BOTH

I work pretty often, so I can be busy sometimes, but I genuinely want to make more time for friendships. Open to meeting people one-on-one or being adopted into an existing friend group!

Everyone’s welcome, LGBTQ+ friendly, and I’m in a relationship, so friends only, please! Would love to meet other POC, but honestly just looking for people I click with

Reddit is a little scary lmao, so if you message me, please include your Instagram handle so I can get a better idea of who I’m talking to.

If we have similar vibes, hmu!

Still looking Anyone down to go catch Clayface in theaters? 🍿🎬

Hey everyone! I’m a 21M living around the Burnaby/Vancouver area, and I’m really trying to go see Clayface while it's still playing on the big screen.

None of my usual circle are really into horror/thriller stuff, so I'm looking for a movie buddy (or a small group) who is down to grab some popcorn, catch a screening, and maybe grab a coffee or drink after to chat about it.

A little about me: I'm pretty easygoing and just want a low-stress hang. Outside of film, I'm into tennis and music.

Reddit can be a little sketchy sometime, so if you're around my age and want to come with, please include your Instagram handle when you message me so I can get a better idea of who I'm talking to and do a quick vibe check!

Anyone down to make content and become friends?

Hey everyone! I’m 22F and looking to make new friends around my age (20–25) who are interested in creating content together!
I’m just starting out and would love to explore lifestyle content, comedy skits, dance videos, makeup, and random fun ideas. You definitely don’t need to be an experienced creator — I’m looking for people who are interested in trying things out, learning together, and having fun with it!
It would be great to meet people who genuinely enjoy these interests and are also looking to build meaningful friendships beyond just making content.
I’d especially love to connect with other girls around my age, but guys are welcome too if we share similar interests and vibes!
If this sounds like you, feel free to DM me a little about yourself. 😊

Abbotsford/Maple Ridge/Mission Looking for friends in Maple Ridge

46f looking for platonic female friends in Maple Ridge. Hoping to find someone to text, and hang out and gossip and just be. I like horror movies, k-dramas and listening to 90's and early 00's music (loud). Been in BC for 12 years and finding that people just don't connect or want to connect outside of social media.

women's gathering this week TW SA

Hi ladies, I thought it would be fitting to share this here and hopefully it helps someone. I’m in the midst of launching Bestea, a women’s community built around real connection and support and we are hosting a women's group this Wednesday Oct 28th in Vancouver.

The recent news about sexual violence against women has left a lot of us feeling overwhelmed, angry, or heartbroken. If this news has stirred up something for yourself or the women in your life, you’re not alone and this space is for you.

This event is a safe space to talk about it, learn grounding tools, and share resources. We’ll be joined by a licensed, trauma-informed therapist.

Share as much or as little as you like, or just come and listen. Everyone will sign a confidentiality waiver and group agreement. If there’s a topic you’d like covered but would rather not bring up yourself, include it in your RSVP and we will do our best to cover it. We heal better together and what many of us are feeling isn’t only personal but tied to a culture that has let women down for far too long.

Spots are limited. The event is by donation, with no pressure at all. Give what you can, or nothing at all. RSVP at [hello@joinbestea.com](mailto:hello@joinbestea.com), or DM me for details.

If this event doesn't fit for you but you are curious in learning more about the bestea community and future events check out www.joinbestea.com

Anywhere Looking for friends interested in tech/ solopreneurs

Hi, I work remotely from home in Vancouver and I build/sell web/mobile apps. I am looking for people to connect over work / tech / tools. I am also a huge fan of coffee and baked goods. My business has been my life as of the current moment, so connecting over the phone or co-working at some coffee shop would be ideal. Maybe go on the odd hike if we get a group. Overall, I like sharing project updates, goals, and news (generally international). I am generally open-minded.

40 M, Single dad looking for some new friends. I’m active, love deep convos and of course having fun

Hey team, putting myself out here to meet some new friends in Vancouver.

I have some of the best friends in the world, but most have moved to the Island or out east. Honestly, it’s been a lonely stretch, and I miss having friends nearby for everyday things.

The past four years have brought some big changes: a separation, two layoffs, and figuring out a new chapter. I’m a single dad and have my daughter half the time. She turns five next year, she’s the absolute light of my life.

I’m very active. Lots of running, hot yoga, weightlifting, and kettlebells. I love hiking in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. I’m down for pretty much anything that gets my body moving.

When I’m not with my daughter or exercising, you’ll often find me painting or drawing. I also love really good food, walks, coffee, and probably most of all, getting outside in the sunshine.

I’m into personal growth too. Coaching, counselling, and men’s groups have all been valuable parts of my life, and I read a lot of psychology and spiritual books. I enjoy conversations where you can be honest, get past the surface, and have a laugh too.

I like to think I’m pretty cool, but I’m obviously a biased source.

I’d love to meet some people to run with, grab a coffee, hit a yoga class, make some art, or plan an adventure. Other parents are welcome too. It would be great to find people for outings with the kids.

If any of that sounds like your kind of thing, send me a message. Happy to start with a coffee or a walk and go from there.

Looking for someone to go on a long walk

Hi everyone,

I’m 23m, and lately I’ve just had this quiet urge to talk to someone, listen to how their day is going, and share a bit of my own story, too. I've been living in the area for about 4 years now, but I haven't really made any close friends yet.

I recently went through a tough breakup after being cheated on over my 5 years of relationship, and I'm just trying to make some new, happy memories so my mind has a break from looping back to the past.

I’m a huge fan of walking and can easily go for miles, but walking alone just leaves too much room for my thoughts to wander back to her. I'm really just hoping to find a kind soul to connect with, hear new perspectives, and take some nice, long walks together. (I am not at all seeking for any validation for my actions)

If you'd like to chat or go for a stroll sometime, feel free to send a message.

28M, Mandarin–English language exchange partner?

Hi everyone! I’m learning Mandarin casually (mostly speaking and listening, beginner level) and I’d love to find a language exchange partner to practise with once or twice a week.

In return, I’m happy to help you practise English: casual conversation, pronunciation, interview prep, or just chatting about whatever you’re into.

Not looking for paid lessons or anything formal, just a relaxed exchange. Maybe 30 minutes of Mandarin, 30 minutes of English. We could meet at a café or library around South Vancouver / Richmond / Marpole, or do it over video if that’s easier.

A bit about me: I’m a software developer, I like hiking, board games, K-dramas and anime, and I’m patient with beginners because I am one 😄

Anyone of any background is welcome, whether you’re a native speaker or also learning. Feel free to comment or DM!

Langley Long shot attempt maybe?

Hi, was hoping to find/ make new friends with whom I could make a genuine connection with!

I’m 30M and south asian and while I feel like I’m very easy going and laid back, I can be a bit introverted, and I don’t go out much in the winter! I was hoping to get out of my comfort zone and talk to people! Most of my current friends are online or far away 🤧 Lost some of my friends when my last relationship ended..

My hobbies include but aren’t limited to:

Reading! Mostly fiction. Just finished the Hyperion series and I love love it!

Gaming ( valorant/ league/ wow/ overwatch), sometimes cosy or friendslop games

Cooking and especially baking. I make really good homemade pizza, curry and brownies!

Watching soccer (la liga and some epl) + some other sports randomly

Travelling + exploring new cultures. Though admittedly I haven’t been anywhere new in the last couple years. I’m into geography and history!

Discovering new music!! Currently listening to The strokes, MGMT, Cocteau Twins, Khruangbin, Men I Trust, Mk.gee on repeat. Send me your recommendations!!!

I would loveeee to get out more, try new cafes( coffee fiend) and museums, maybe even go on a short hike, watch movies at the theater, go to the arcade , or even play games online!

My only requirements would be that you are somewhat close in age and nice!

DM me ♥️ let’s be friends!!!

🤍 34 | Looking for Genuine Friendships & Like-Minded People 🤍

Narcissistic abuse survivor of 15 years

ADHD spicy 🔥

I’m a woman looking to make genuine friendships and connect with people who enjoy personal growth, new experiences, and building meaningful connections.

Hey everyone! I’m 34 years old and entering a new chapter of my life focused on healing, personal growth, rediscovering myself, and creating genuine connections.

I’m caring, loyal, compassionate, and adventurous, with a big heart. I value honesty, emotional maturity, meaningful conversations, and friendships where both people feel appreciated, respected, and supported.

After spending a long time in survival mode, I’ve been working on reconnecting with who I truly am. Some friendships ended along the way, and although that was painful, it taught me the importance of surrounding myself with people who value patience, understanding, and personal growth. I’m learning to establish healthy boundaries, protect my peace, communicate better, and give to others without losing myself in the process.

I’m not perfect, and I don’t expect anyone else to be. I believe in accountability, growth, and learning from our experiences.

🤍 What I’m looking for in a friend

• Genuine, loyal, and emotionally mature people. • Honest communication, mutual respect, and consistency. • Friends who celebrate each other’s successes without jealousy or competition. • People who enjoy deep conversations just as much as being silly and laughing until we cry. • Reciprocal friendships where both people make an effort. • People who respect boundaries and can work through disagreements maturely. • Friends who want to grow together, support each other, and create meaningful memories.

🏕️ My hobbies and interests

• Hiking and exploring nature. • Paddleboarding and spending time outdoors. • Discovering new places and going on little adventures. • Personal development and learning about human behaviour. • Fitness, self-improvement, and trying new activities. • Exploring different hobbies and discovering new interests.

🎸 Hobbies I want to learn and explore

• Learning to play acoustic guitar. • Trying calisthenics and building strength. • Giving Muay Thai a try. • Learning how to longboard. • Trying rollerblading. • Exploring new outdoor activities and adventures. • Discovering other hobbies I haven’t even thought of yet!

I’m still a beginner at plenty of things, and that’s part of the fun. I want to step outside my comfort zone, learn new skills, and meet people who are open to trying things together. Whether we’re learning something new, encouraging each other, or laughing at ourselves along the way, I think those experiences can make great memories.

🌱 Where I’m at in life

I’m rediscovering myself after a long chapter of life and learning to embrace who I am beyond what I’ve been through. I’ve completed therapy and have been working on healing, rebuilding my confidence, and creating a healthier relationship with myself and others.

I’m becoming more intentional about the people I allow into my life and the energy I give to my relationships. I want friendships that feel safe, peaceful, fun, supportive, and authentic.

I can be a deep thinker one minute and a complete goofball the next. I love meaningful connections, spontaneous adventures, and people who can be themselves without pretending.

I’m also a YES GIRL! 😂🤍 If you have an adventure in mind, want to try a new activity, explore somewhere different, or spontaneously grab a coffee, count me in! I love stepping outside my comfort zone, trying new things, and making memories along the way. Life is too short to keep saying “maybe someday” when we could be out there experiencing it!

I’m always open to new experiences, so if you’ve been wanting to try something but need a buddy, let’s do it! Whether it’s an outdoor adventure, a new fitness class, learning a skill together, or simply exploring somewhere we’ve never been, I’m all for it. We don’t have to be experts at anything; we just have to be willing to try!

I’m not looking for a huge circle of friends. I’d rather have a few genuine people who show up, communicate, and value the friendship as much as I do.

If you enjoy kindness, personal growth, adventure, and genuine connection, I’d love to meet you! We could grab a coffee, go for a hike, try a new hobby, explore somewhere new, or simply sit and have a meaningful conversation.

You don’t have to share all my interests. I’d love to learn about your hobbies, too, and maybe discover something new together.

🤍 Here’s to new beginnings, genuine friendships, spontaneous adventures, trying new things, and becoming the people we want to be. 🤍

New to Van, 25F looking to find my village (active, love exploring, and an occasional drink…or three vibe)

Hey! 25F here, recently joined Reddit (how have I been sleeping on it this long?!) but found this sub and thought it seemed so wholesome! I moved to Vancouver a couple months ago, knowing basically no one here (apart from my partner I moved with!) and I’m keen to make some new friends who might like the same things as me and want to get a bit of a weekly thing going maybe (aka find my village, not just pen pals).

I’m into hiking (up to 15k/1,200m elevation type stuff, typically involving a sweet treat to enjoy at a summit as a reward, sometimes a wild swim too?), running (nothing crazy, like a social 5-10k and using it to explore new areas), strength training (more of a habit than a love - been doing that for 5yrs or so!), cooking (so coming from the uk where it’s so cheap, the price of groceries has made me v sad haha) independent coffee shops, finding new cheap eats/going out for dinner (latest obsession is bahn mi’s and bao buns), and trying a new brewery (really hate clubbing, but love a pub and will happily stay out late into the eve when the vibe is right)

So far I’ve tried a couple run clubs but tbh met a lot of odd balls (?!) and I consider myself pretty normal - I’m not the loudest in a room at all, but I like a chat/company, and I just want to find my people - and maybe some more club/group activities.

About to start a remote job too so doesn’t need to be a high maintenance friendship - simple walks at lunchtime, co-working together, or running errands together too are fun too! I’m based in Mount Pleasant/False Creek FYI - think Main Street is quite my vibe - if that helps you judge if we’d be a good fit for each other or not 😊

That’s a looooot of info but hopefully it’s helpful - tell me a bit about you!

NB: not really looking for any male friends unless you already have a partner and want to be couple friends (I’ve seen the posts about people using this non-platonically…and I’m really not after that, so don’t waste your time!!)

Anyone up to go to shows in Van?

Hey Vancouver! I’m 34M and a music enthusiast. I’ve really enjoyed the ticket giveaways on the Vancouver subs, but a lot come in pairs—and finding a plus-one at short notice can be tricky!

Thought I’d put this out here to see if anyone would be up for the occasional spontaneous concert or show. If you enjoy music and performing arts and are open to last-minute plans, we’d probably get along. Everyone’s welcome, regardless of age or gender.

I’d love to expand my friend circle in Van too, so feel free to say hi. Would be nice to have a few people to reach out to when something fun pops up! 🙂
