What’s your most used VSTi?
Finally got my rig setup after my PC crashed. Loving serum right now.

Based on the responses to my last "Community Forum" post (zero), I am convinced most of the subscribers here are bots posting about new VST sales.
So things are going to change. I'd rather have a dead sub than a spammy sub. No sale posts. Posts are now encouraged to be discussion based. Questions about which products to buy, what sounds the best, reviews, videos, etc. (Note: If you are a legitimate plugin developer, you can ask for posting permissions at /r/AudioProductionDeals, though they are very strict about who they give access to.)
The flairs will be revamped as well. Automod will get altered to autoremove sale posts as well.
Have fun and let's make this sub not shit!
Edit: Quick summary of the big changes

Hello, i recently realized how much i enjoy watching people using my software rather than selling it. For that reason i have decided to extend the free CapySynth download for everyone forever. Enjoy :D
EDIT: All i ask is that you share it everywhere. I want as many people to try it out :D
EDIT 2: Btw later today i will be releasing a patch to capysynth with updates and fixes and a few new sounds

My pc died last year so took me a while but I switched to Mac and it’s been flawless! Not one hiccup so far. I’m mainly using Komplete 15, wondering if they’ll do another sale this year.

I was looking for an analog fx box that uses USB to spice up some of my software sounds. I’m torn between these two. I can get either used for about $500 each. I wish I could afford both as it’s like half off. Which would you choose, and why? Does anyone else make one?
When I say "yourself" I mean probably with AI assistance.
It has got so much more fun now you don't have to think about all that horrible coding syntax stuff.
I'm curious to know what other folks have found pleasing in their own work. Something that turned out better than you imagined and/or something you made that you actually use every day.
For myself, daily I have a midi Bassgen and Drumgen I slap on first thing, neither are very good, but are enough to get me started in a session.
This one, the algorithm idea suggested by someone on one of these subs is my current obsession, naturalistic drums through it sounds amazing : https://danja.github.io/downspout/plugins/primefold/

Hello all,
Here is my lightweight plugin test app, Plugin//Playa. I was tired of having to reload/rescan DAWs when developing. Currently only for MacOS 12 and up. Utilizes Midi 1.0, 2.0, OSC, and Ableton Link.
Full Description of features on Github.
https://github.com/TEAMBANZAI/PluginPlaya
Noteable Features:
- No scanning of plugins on each app load, just lists whats in the default folders or you can drag and drop.
- Can refresh/reload a plugin when a version is changed out without needing to reload the app or lose the patch you are working on
- Full diagnostic exporting for development
- No frills or crazy GUI, just works

Hey all, full transparency first: I'm the developer, and the instrument is paid. But the picture part has a free and quite capable browser version you can try right now with your mouse, no install, no signup.
VG Windscape is a sound instrument and a live picture in one. The picture runs in Chrome next to your DAW and listens to the same MIDI you play: the notes place and colour the brush, and breath, mod wheel or expression move it. In the video it's a keyboard with a TEControl breath controller, nothing edited afterwards.
I made it because most of our track videos look the same. This gives you a moving picture for a track video, a Reel, or the screen behind you on stage, without a video editor. You can also record the MIDI and play it back later, and the picture is drawn again.
The sound side is a full instrument with wind sounds and long evolving pads. Plugin or standalone, Windows and Mac.
Free picture demo (Chrome, mouse or MIDI keyboard):

Curious whether something like this would be useful for your own track videos.

Anyone own this? Looks like a great idea I just worry about long term support. Wondering how it sounds too.
First off, yes, i know...i should learn to make my own patches. It's on my "to do" list. I've already started tweaking presets, and I'll do a deep dive down the road. For now, I'd like to expand what comes stock with Pigments. Looking for Future Bass/Synthwave leaning sounds. Any reccomended websites for soundbanks?

Processing gif b9fzwpk68gxh1...
About 7 months ago I saw those videos where people wave their hands at a camera and the music reacts, almost all of them built in TouchDesigner. Then I opened TouchDesigner, stared at the node graph for a while, and closed it.
So, being a C++ dev, I spent months writing a plugin that does it inside Live instead. It tracks your hand through the laptop webcam, and you can use it in two ways: play MIDI notes or map it to any effect parameter in any DAW.
Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVXLf-pgdNY
Honestly, I started making this plugin for myself, but then decided I could publish it as Hand Link. This plugin would be difficult to use for live performance in dynamic music, I see it more as a tool to help promote tunes online through short videos (TikTok, Reels) and also as an experiment, since a new workflow can create a new unexpected sound. So I’m curious, would something like this actually be interesting or useful? or you treat it more as tool for fun?

Growing up I spent a lot of time looking at plugins I could not have. The ones with the good panels, the ones everyone used. I did not have the money, and for a long while I did not have the skill either. At some point I stopped waiting and learned to write them.
I am the author of Retroexx, a free character, noise and space processor. It is version 0.1, AU and VST3, macOS on Apple Silicon only. It runs six modules in series: noise, wow and flutter, tape wear, saturation, bit crush and a resonator space.
Link in the first comment. Next on my list is Kickexx, a sidechain, transient and panning processor.

I wanted to see exactly how the bass comes back in around a kick, so I've been
working on Kick Air, a free sidechain ducking plugin for Windows and macOS.
It shows the external kick in red and the processed bass in blue on the same
timeline. You can move and edit the ducking curve, change the amount with Depth,
and adjust the return with Flow.
Audio mode responds to actual sidechain hits, including irregular rhythms. The
note division controls how long the response lasts. When the kick stops, the bass
returns to full level instead of continuing to pulse. It also has host BPM sync,
manual tempo and optional low-band ducking.
Downloads and instructions: https://github.com/kikk-i/kick-air
- Windows 10/11: 64-bit VST3 installer.
- macOS 11+: universal AU and VST3 for Apple Silicon and Intel.
- No account, activation or time limit.
This is a beta. The installers are unsigned and the Mac package is not notarized.
macOS has passed native plugin validation. The Windows build has passed runtime,
GUI and installer checks through Wine, but I still need feedback from real
Windows DAW setups because i cannot even test it, got only macbook.
If you try it, please share your DAW version, OS and plugin format. I'm especially
interested in sidechain routing, clicks, project recall and GUI scaling. Bug
reports and successful compatibility reports can go in GitHub Issues.
If you'd like to support development, you can buy me a coffee:
It's completely optional.

Hey everyone! I made a browser-based chord app with the help of AI, inspired by the Juno-106. It’s not an emulation—just a fun way to play with Juno-inspired sounds and chord sequences.
It works on your phone and runs offline too. I’ve been having a lot of fun messing with it on the subway.
Features:
• Scale-aware step sequencer
• Juno-inspired sounds
• Delay, reverb, flanger, and two choruses :)
• Auto-mapping for 15 popular MIDI keyboards
• Sidechain pumping to an “invisible” kick
• Arpeggiator
• Loop recorder with up to 4 layers and stem export
• Sample pack maker
A note on MIDI: use Chrome on desktop for MIDI mode. I haven’t figured out mobile MIDI support on iPhone or Android yet—if anyone knows a way to get it working, I’d love to hear it. You can still play the app on your phone without a MIDI keyboard.
Try it here: https://dub-chords-106.vercel.app/
Would love to hear what you think, what you make with it, and any bugs or suggestions!
Hi. I've been working on a wavetable SID plugin to replace a bunch of bespoke scripts and emulation frameworks for the last 18 months and now it's here. You have surgical control over every register of the 6581/850 SID chip. You can numberwang the tables or draw your soundscape on the graph editors. It comes with a tool that can dissect .sid files and create instruments. https://residuesynth.com

Hello! I've been making a plugin that will allow you to generate loops(clips) from the samples you have.
There is no AI - I just using some math methods and music theory and many different things combined.
Can you share your thought about it? Do you see it useful for you?
General idea: plugin creates you a loot of loops with selected instruments and you combine it for your track. Like "Lego bricks" later you have to construct track from it.
Here is some demo:

What do you think? Do you see value in it?

Currently in the midst of trying to expand my VST arsenal. Right now I’ve got Purity, Hive, Nexus, Zenology, and Surge. But I can’t decide if I should bother picking up ElectraX or Icarus first as I want to make stuff that sounds like this:
Just like that whole Hyperpop era with Oogie Mane, Loesoe, Starboy, Outtatown, Brandon Finessin, etc. Just watch only 1 or 2 of these to get a general idea and lmk which of the Tone2 Synths and Nexus expansions I should get.
Please and thank you.
