October 2026 - /r/Twitter Mega Open Thread for everything else - UN/SUSPENDED, LOCKED OR AGE-LOCKED ACCOUNT PROBLEMS & QUESTIONS GO IN THIS THREAD ONLY
Greetings!
This is the monthly "Open Discussion" thread, where you're free to ask questions, start a discussion, promote your Twitter account, give ideas on how to improve this subreddit, or provide feedback on how this subreddit is moderated.
This thread is for your support questions, discussions, self-promotion, subreddit feedback, or anything else.
IF YOU ARE POSTING ABOUT UN/SUSPENDED, LOCKED OR AGE-LOCKED ACCOUNTS (PROBLEMS & QUESTIONS), THIS IS TO BE DONE IN THIS THREAD ONLY.
Stand-alone threads about Twitter Account Suspensions or Twitter Account Locks are unwelcome anywhere else in this subreddit. They *Will Be Removed* and Locked.
If you're looking for more guidance on How To Get Your Suspended Account Back, read here.
Don't forget to read our FAQ, and if you have information to add to it or something that needs updating, please feel free to make those changes!
While r/Twitter aims to be a community to help other Twitter users solve problems with the service, this also isn't the ideal place to ask support questions.
Support questions are preferably asked in this "Open Discussion" thread. If you've posted a thread asking for help and no one has responded, you may have better luck asking your question here instead.
If you do have a functional (meaning: not locked or suspended) Twitter account, it can't hurt to let @ TwitterSupport know of your problem directly on Twitter dot com.
If you are looking to promote your Twitter account to others, ask for followers, or any type of self-promotion, you can do so in this thread only.
The volunteer moderators who guide the direction of this subreddit rely upon the feedback of the community in order to make it a more perfect place on Reddit.
Feel free to give that feedback in this thread, or if you'd prefer to give your feedback in private, [send a private message to the subreddit modmail.
If for some unholy reason you need to see past open discussion threads, they are available here

Question Twitter keeps turning my replies into posts.
I haven’t used Twitter in a few years and finally decided to revamp my old account. I ended up responding to something on my feed, but it keeps showing up as a post on my profile and not just a reply. All of my old comments are still under the reply tab. I /really/ don’t want to broadcast everything I say to my old followers’ feeds. Is this a new feature and, better yet, is it something that can be turned off? I feel silly even having to ask, but I’m at my wit’s end here. I’ve already deleted the ‘post’ twice out of embarrassment and I can’t figure out how to fix it despite multiple searches. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Question Why is my message bar covered?
I use the Android web version of Twitter and it updated one of my accounts. The new version covers my message/reply bar in dms with the notification bar and won't let me see what I'm typing. It won't let me send anything either. Is there any way to fix this or get rid of the update on this account? I am currently logged into 5 accounts on my Twitter and the other 4 function normally.

I have found where the new "likes" section is but no longer can see the number of posts that I have liked that used to be on the top of the page, has this been moved somewhere? If this feature has been removed can anyone recommend a work around?

COMPLAINTS Has anyone else received a suspicious login alert on X (Twitter)?
I've been getting multiple suspicious login alerts on my X account since October 14, and again on October 26. One was from the UK.
Anyone else experiencing this? Is this normal or is someone actually trying to hack my account? Kinda worried since it keeps happening.

Bug Report Can no longer select certain albums saved on my SD card?
In the past Twitter used to let me select photos from certain albums saved on my SD card when using the app's built in image picker. But now, I just get this instead. This is annoying because now I can't really post the pictures I wanna post.
I don't know how to fix it. I have actively taken away, and given back photo and album permissions to the Twitter app. It doesn't change anything.
Also, what does media picker and deny access mean??
Any advice can help.
Edit: for additional context; my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

anything else! Twitter keeps showing me political content even though I’m not interested in it!
I’m interested in technology, video games, and a bit of sports. I want to ask why Twitter/X keeps recommending political content to me ?
I don’t follow any politicians or news accounts, yet the “For You” tab keeps showing me tweets and videos from racist people, accounts posting about immigration, and videos of racist streamers talking about race-related issues in the US (I DON’T EVEN LIVE IN AMERICA!!).
Recently, it has also started showing me posts from online fights between users from different countries, using the translation feature. For example, I’ve seen people making memes about the Hiroshima bombing in what seems to be an ongoing online war between French and Japanese users. Before that, X recommended posts from a similar online fight between Turkish and Chinese users. The content was absolutely disgusting.
**Is there any way to stop this?**

Question I'm subscribed, but my impression level is low
It's almost as low as it was before I subscribed.
I've seen people suggest logging off for a week for the algo to shake the etch a sketcb.
Does this work, or am I SOL because I'm not a MAGA bot?

Question Cant message people through dm anymore?
So before if someone asked dm if interested I could simple dm them now its telling me "only verified people can send messages to chat with people they dont follow". thats bs I literally have like 20 previous dms still open and I messaged first and they dont follow me is this new?
Developer I think it's high time twitter should give us an option to hide "joining date" & add media to old tweets.
I hope it reaches to twitter developers for real

anything else! Fix for "Unsupported phone number" during X/Twitter account recovery
If you're getting the "Unsupported phone number" error while trying to recover your X account, just leave the phone number field blank and continue.
You don't actually have to enter a phone number.
It worked for me, and my account restoration request was successfully submitted.
Hope this helps anyone stuck on the same issue!

Question Is there a way to download your dms as a readable pdf?
Hi. I'm wondering if there is a way to download a DM as a readable PDF or something similar. I know Discord has some tools like this but I was curious if twitter/x does. Any help would be appreciate!

COMPLAINTS For the last few months, searching someone's profile history using advanced search on Twitter (X) has been almost completely broken. It barely pulls up any old tweets compared to how it used to, and the platform has clearly ruined its backend index for specific handle searches
For the last few months, X's advanced search history on people's profiles does not work well any longer. It barely pulls up any old tweets compared to how it used to. A few tweets will pop up of the key words you're looking for, but the majority of them won't like they used to.
And it seems like the backend index is completely broken.
I noticed it started happening over this past summer (of 2026) if I am remembering correctly.
I go back and forth and wonder if this is intentional or not by X. Who knows. But it's a valuable tool that is lost.
X needs to be honest about it hiding post history now. When you look up a keyword on someone’s profile using advanced search and only get a handful of tweets instead of the hundreds they’ve actually written, it’s completely deceptive, especially to users who aren't aware that the advanced search feature isn't working to its full capacity and that's an understatement. If the person wrote 1000 tweets about a certain word, only about 10 will pull up now.

COMPLAINTS Why is almost everyone on Twitter so comfortable being racist?
I’ve never seen this much racism in my life. Why the hell are people just being racist to other races and other people don’t call them out on it? It’s a basic thing you learn in history class, Racism is bad, and having the racist mindset makes you a bad person. I genuinely never seen this much slurs be thrown around like it’s a daily occurrence. If anyone on Twitter were to be like this in real life, nobody would like them.
Like racist people exist in real life, but everyone hates them, people on twitter get to be racist and people agree and whenever someone disagrees, they get called slurs. It’s making me wonder if these people are bots because no one could ever be this racist without thinking of the consequences.
