Season 2 "It is a genuine soap opera, said by Lynch himself."
A reply to an earlier post has me rethinking my life:
"That it made it look like a parody is what he didn't like. The OG Twin Peaks is not a parody of soap operas. It is a genuine soap opera, said by Lynch himself. Him and Frost play with elements of the genre sure but it's honest. When you get stuff in the OG Show like James singing Just You you can think he's trolling the audience and you're supposed to laugh but at least on Lynch's side of things he truly likes James and thinks it's a beautiful moment."
If true, this is one of the most unsettling realizations I've ever had, more so than the dumpster scene in Mulholland Drive that made me fall in love with Lynch.
I've having trouble putting into words so here's an example: imagine a meta joke where you and 3 buddies agree you'll tell the group a joke that's meaningless, you three laugh and you watch the fourth's friend's reaction. Say the joke is "So a penguin steps into a shower and has a PBJ sandwich. He takes a bite and yells 'What am I, a toaster?!'" And the new friend may laugh because everyone else laughs, which is embarrassing because it's nonsense. Or they look confused and ask why that's funny, and you all look at each other as if it's obvious to mess with him further....
But what if, there's a third entirely different way, where the fourth friend laughs and laughs, harder than any of you, tears rolling down his face, and he isn't just acting like it's funny because you all laughed, the nonsense joke, is to him, actually completely hilarious, and then the whole situation is flipped on the three of you, and you three might even be a bit afraid because wtf?
That's the feeling I'm contending with right now. Lynch may be way way more off the scale that I had ever conceived. Anyone else ever get that feeling?

Season 1 The soap opera within Twin Peaks
Really loved the glimpses of "Invitation to Love" in season 1, felt like a knowing wink from Lynch that yes the sentimental and melodramatic tropes were intentional so "dig deeper" in viewing them.
I remember feeling at first like, "ok, this is a parody of crime drama, detective show, soap opera, off beat comedy all rolled into one" but it's interesting how if you play on edge of parody for long enough, it suddenly becomes something else entirely, so much so that I don't even know if Twin Peaks falls into any genre besides "the mind of David Lynch." Was there more to "Invitation to Love" than meets the eye, and why do you think it was dropped in Season 2?

Question What is the single greatest scene in all of Twin Peaks?
Not your favorite episode. Not the scene that explains the most lore. The one scene that, to you represents everything that makes Twin Peaks special.
Original series, Fire Walk with Me and The Return.
For me it would be the final 30 seconds of episode 18 of The Return.

General Discussion TV Shows and Films
Most of you here love Twin Peaks. And for most of you, it's your favorite show, like me.
What TV shows and/or films do you love that you feel have similar things with Twin Peaks.
For me it's The Leftovers and Blue Velvet.

From The Lowdown. Just the amount of characterization he gets across with this shot of how his sleazy politician character jogs with his security detail is amazing. What a gifted but mainly gift-giving actor.

Season 3 (The Return) Part 8 isโฆ.
Sarahโs dream. Her coping with her own abuse. Being assaulted by a bearded man, her dream imagining a poem about drinking full, a water and a well, a phallic shaped bug crawling into her mouth as the man lures her to sleep. Unaware.
Laura Palmer is born into the world and unfortunately, the cycle continues. This time, instead of a bearded men, itโs Bob. Her own coping mechanism.

General Discussion Anyone know where I could find this?
Taking a gamble here, I was thinking about buying my boyfriend a collectible tin lunchbox as one of his Christmas gifts, and to my surprise, this DOES exist!! but it looks like they came out in 2017 and are no longer available. Iโve had no luck on eBay, does anyone have one of these theyโre willing to part with, OR is anyone in here crafty enough to make one custom? Anything helps!

General Discussion I had a dream with BOB in it. The first nightmare I've had in a long while Spoiler
I had a dream where Season 2 Jerry Horne was collapsed on the floor of the great northern pointing at a tile on the floor saying โBob is hereโ over and over again. I was there and carried him downstairs because it looked like he had a stroke. I asked Ben if he knew of any Bobs and he said no.
Coop was there and of course I asked him and his interest was piqued. I stood under a part of the ceiling and said โhe was lying above us around here pointing at a tile on the floor saying bob is here over and over again. As if he was pointing below to roughly where weโre standing.โ โSo BOB is right here?โ
Then I woke up, but I had sleep paralysis and I had this feeling that BOB was in my room. I couldnโt see him until I saw this really long sock I have draped over an open door that opens to the hallway and has some shelves behind it, so enough space for someone to hide in. The sock started moving, as if someone was pulling on it, and I could hear music building up into a crescendo and I had to focus all and I mean ALL of my energy into shaking my head so I snapped out of it because seeing Frank Silva in my room would simply have been too much for me.
The chosen and the dammed, I suppose...

Question What are some theories on this show that you stand by?
What are the theories you genuinely think are real but that most people disagree on.
Theories you'd always defend, not just theories about the finale.

Season 3 (The Return) Sarah, Laura, and Judy
The following will contain spoilers!!
After Agent Cooper successfully alters the timeline and is leading Laura through the forest to the White Lodge, we cut to Sarah Palmer screaming, as she is prone to do, (it runs in the family presumably) and she starts smashing the photo of Laura. Then something happens. The camera starts jerking forward and back, and we see the shattered glass moving back and forth.
I've always wondered what exactly is happening in this scene. I think I have a solid theory.
Sarah, whom we know is possessed (probably by Judy), is altering time/reality. She is responsible for Laura being separated from Coop and being whisked away to this new reality where Richard and Linda exist instead of Dale and Diane and Laura is Carrie.
What i'm not so sure about is what happens next. In this new reality, the Palmer's never lived at their home. Carrie (Laura) works at Judy's. In this new reality, perhaps Judy had taken up residence in Carrie (Laura).
That's why Carrie responds when he mentions Sarah to her, that's why we hear Sarah scream her name at the very end. The only way for Judy to defeat Coop and the Fireman was to hide inside Carrie in this new reality.
Maybe? I don't know but I've been re-watching S3 and this feels kinda right.

Fire Walk With Me First time watch after completing seasons 1 and 2 Spoiler
Wow. What an intense movie. The implications of Laura's traumatic past were alluded to in the first two seasons. But knowing who the killer is and them saying why they did what they did in their confession, it makes the prequel movie all the more heavy

Music Audrey Horne inspired playlist
Hi all,
I made an Audrey Horne inspired playlist a few years ago and am looking to refresh it. I'm especially interested in supporting lesser known artists, and I figure there's been some new music since I made it. If you have any suggestions for songs, I'd love to add it: retro, dreamy, melancholy, all of the above: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/01rjJ7KxrwlJQ665g9kbRc?si=rS8qNYNaRFiga2-NVm5iRw
Thank you!
