Season 1 Vivid Twin Peaks/Lynch dream relations?

• Upvotes

I had a very weird dream last night and trying to figure out if it's related to a specific scene in Twin Peaks or having just finished listening to Kyle's memoir and it's on my brain. I lost my mom earlier this summer suddenly but not unexpectedly. Unsure if related, but maybe important.

The dream took place in the woods and Dale Cooper was there. I don't think I was physically there, or myself. I might have been Cooper. A white horse trots up, and Dale seems happy or relieved to see it. He says hi and then smacks it on the butt to send it back off into the woods. Behind Dale there might have been other characters from the Twin Peaks police department. As the horse rides off a centaur appears. The centaur was female, but not obviously so? It seems to greet the white horse or... was the white horse? It moves farther away and Dale notices an injury on it's back leg. I know this is from an arrow, but not sure why. Dale asks why the centaur hasn't healed the wound (apparently knowing centaurs are magical?). The centaur responds "The hurt is the point" and slowly walks off into the woods.

The setting could just be the scene where they are throwing the rocks at the bottles. Kyle mentioned it specifically in the book. And the horse might somehow be related to the Llama? And maybe this is the wrong place, but the whole thing felt very Lynch to begin with. Anyway, thanks for letting me rant and get this out.

Twin Peaks Vibes Seventeen Magazine, 1990 september. 'Taking on an almost surreal feel, classic outdoorsy clothes are displayed against the backdrop of the woods... where things are not always as they appear.'

A slice of cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee. A perfect detour to see what David saw all those decades ago

Season 2 Just finished S2, please tell me that's not the ending Spoiler

That was not an ending. Episode 16 felt more like an ending. Leland's speech and the ambiguous nature of Bob made me really curious about what was to come. And then the rest of S2 was just pointless, it felt like a series of loosely connected events that didn't really lead up to anything and just left you with more questions. Did Audrey and Ben die? Why leave that for the finale? What was the point of Nadine's whole plot, why was that in the finale? Why did the show largely move on from Laura until the very end? You don't even see her mom much after she loses her husband. Where else did Andy see the mural? Why didn't Windom Earle leave a body, does that mean he's still in the Black Lodge? Or was that the White Lodge? Was it just the waiting room like the little guy said? Who even is that guy?

I'll watch the movie, but I know it's largely a prequel, so this is really what people were left with for 25 years? What the fuck?

Season 2 "It is a genuine soap opera, said by Lynch himself."

A reply to an earlier post has me rethinking my life:

"That it made it look like a parody is what he didn't like. The OG Twin Peaks is not a parody of soap operas. It is a genuine soap opera, said by Lynch himself. Him and Frost play with elements of the genre sure but it's honest. When you get stuff in the OG Show like James singing Just You you can think he's trolling the audience and you're supposed to laugh but at least on Lynch's side of things he truly likes James and thinks it's a beautiful moment."

If true, this is one of the most unsettling realizations I've ever had, more so than the dumpster scene in Mulholland Drive that made me fall in love with Lynch.

I've having trouble putting into words so here's an example: imagine a meta joke where you and 3 buddies agree you'll tell the group a joke that's meaningless, you three laugh and you watch the fourth's friend's reaction. Say the joke is "So a penguin steps into a shower and has a PBJ sandwich. He takes a bite and yells 'What am I, a toaster?!'" And the new friend may laugh because everyone else laughs, which is embarrassing because it's nonsense. Or they look confused and ask why that's funny, and you all look at each other as if it's obvious to mess with him further....

But what if, there's a third entirely different way, where the fourth friend laughs and laughs, harder than any of you, tears rolling down his face, and he isn't just acting like it's funny because you all laughed, the nonsense joke, is to him, actually completely hilarious, and then the whole situation is flipped on the three of you, and you three might even be a bit afraid because wtf?

That's the feeling I'm contending with right now. Lynch may be way way more off the scale that I had ever conceived. Anyone else ever get that feeling?

Music Audrey Horne inspired playlist

Hi all,

I made an Audrey Horne inspired playlist a few years ago and am looking to refresh it. I'm especially interested in supporting lesser known artists, and I figure there's been some new music since I made it. If you have any suggestions for songs, I'd love to add it: retro, dreamy, melancholy, all of the above: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/01rjJ7KxrwlJQ665g9kbRc?si=rS8qNYNaRFiga2-NVm5iRw

Thank you!

Season 3 (The Return) Part 8 is….

Sarah’s dream. Her coping with her own abuse. Being assaulted by a bearded man, her dream imagining a poem about drinking full, a water and a well, a phallic shaped bug crawling into her mouth as the man lures her to sleep. Unaware.

Laura Palmer is born into the world and unfortunately, the cycle continues. This time, instead of a bearded men, it’s Bob. Her own coping mechanism.

From The Lowdown. Just the amount of characterization he gets across with this shot of how his sleazy politician character jogs with his security detail is amazing. What a gifted but mainly gift-giving actor.

Taking a gamble here, I was thinking about buying my boyfriend a collectible tin lunchbox as one of his Christmas gifts, and to my surprise, this DOES exist!! but it looks like they came out in 2017 and are no longer available. I’ve had no luck on eBay, does anyone have one of these they’re willing to part with, OR is anyone in here crafty enough to make one custom? Anything helps!

General Discussion TV Shows and Films

Most of you here love Twin Peaks. And for most of you, it's your favorite show, like me.

What TV shows and/or films do you love that you feel have similar things with Twin Peaks.

For me it's The Leftovers and Blue Velvet.

General Discussion I had a dream with BOB in it. The first nightmare I've had in a long while Spoiler

I had a dream where Season 2 Jerry Horne was collapsed on the floor of the great northern pointing at a tile on the floor saying “Bob is here” over and over again. I was there and carried him downstairs because it looked like he had a stroke. I asked Ben if he knew of any Bobs and he said no.

Coop was there and of course I asked him and his interest was piqued. I stood under a part of the ceiling and said “he was lying above us around here pointing at a tile on the floor saying bob is here over and over again. As if he was pointing below to roughly where we’re standing.” “So BOB is right here?”

Then I woke up, but I had sleep paralysis and I had this feeling that BOB was in my room. I couldn’t see him until I saw this really long sock I have draped over an open door that opens to the hallway and has some shelves behind it, so enough space for someone to hide in. The sock started moving, as if someone was pulling on it, and I could hear music building up into a crescendo and I had to focus all and I mean ALL of my energy into shaking my head so I snapped out of it because seeing Frank Silva in my room would simply have been too much for me.

The chosen and the dammed, I suppose...

Season 1 The soap opera within Twin Peaks

Post image

Really loved the glimpses of "Invitation to Love" in season 1, felt like a knowing wink from Lynch that yes the sentimental and melodramatic tropes were intentional so "dig deeper" in viewing them.

I remember feeling at first like, "ok, this is a parody of crime drama, detective show, soap opera, off beat comedy all rolled into one" but it's interesting how if you play on edge of parody for long enough, it suddenly becomes something else entirely, so much so that I don't even know if Twin Peaks falls into any genre besides "the mind of David Lynch." Was there more to "Invitation to Love" than meets the eye, and why do you think it was dropped in Season 2?
