Beware Menards New Rebate Mailers

In the past, Menards rebates came in the mail in a post card format and it was very clear what it was. Easy to spot and store away.

I just got a rebate in the mail that was printed inside a giant Masterforce advertisement. I thought it was junk mail and almost threw it away, but for some reason decided to open the mailer. The rebate card was literally printed inline with the advertisement on the inner page.

If you're expecting a rebate, don't throw away stuff from Menards until you open it.

Jake Lang and Zak X spout racist nonsense at Plymouth City Council Meeting

• Upvotes

After 6 long minutes of racist foolishness, residents and a city council member spoke up against the insanity witnessed during the public forum.

Lang and X have been obsessing over a local USPS office that shares a building with an Islamic Community Center. Since last Friday they won’t leave our community alone - harassing people at prayer and postal workers alike, they came to waste their breath at the city council meeting last night.

There may be some whacko outliers, as in any case, but it’s going to become more and more clear as time goes on that Plymouth residents will not tolerate racism. We will make sure of it. We love ALL of our neighbors.

Who are you listening to? I like to have it on in the mornings in the background or in the car driving home from work, but since Dave left KDWB I find Fallon super annoying. Since Lori and Julia left Mytalk in the late afternoons, Brittney and Kendall I find annoying. So frustrated!

Plastic Surgeons - Brown Skin Tones

I would like to get breast reduction and lift, but it has been incredibly hard to find a doctor that has recommendations specifically from people with a darker skin tone.

My sister went to a random plastic surgeon recommended by insurance and ended up with extensive scarring and keloids. Darker skin tones tend to have darker scars and are more prone to keloids.

I really don't want to have the same experience and would like to work with a surgeon that understands how minimize scarring on someone of my complexion.

Any recommendations?

Election Night Bulwark Watch Party

Join fans of the Bulwark on Tuesday, November 3rd, at Dual Citizen Brewery in St. Paul from 7:00 to 10:00 PM to watch election returns come in from across the country. Will it be a Blue Tsunami? Or will Tim Miller’s prediction of 52 seats barely give them a Fetterman-proof majority? Let's find out together!

All attendees present at 8:00 PM will be eligible for a drawing for some of the sweet new Bulwark swag.

There will be beer and other drinks available, and you can get food delivered from nearby if no food truck is there that night.

Here's the Meetup link to the event, but don't feel like you have to join, you can just show up: https://www.meetup.com/the-bulwark-meetup-group/events/316766469/

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions and invite your friends to join the group or just bring them along.

Anywhere to donate used laminate flooring?

We're replacing our flooring at home and will end up with about 350-400 square feet of Pergo laminate that has some wear but is still in decent condition. I'd hate to throw it all out, is there a place that would accept it so it can be reused?

Minneapolis singer-songwriter Barrister brings rich, expressive vocals and theatrical performances, blending folk and rock songwriting with a soulful approach to storytelling. Atlanta-raised artist King Swank adds infectious energy with his fusion of hip-hop, melodic rap, and Afrobeats, while South Minneapolis rapper Malcolm Jabar combines thoughtful, poetic lyricism with rhythmic, emotionally vulnerable hip-hop. Rounding out the night is singer-songwriter Amore Azadi, whose bilingual rock music transforms personal experiences of heartbreak, identity, and resilience into expressive songs. With costumes encouraged, a special merchandise release, and a lineup that crosses musical and cultural boundaries, Fright Night offers an intimate opportunity to discover rising artists.
  • Fine Line - (Right Here Tour) Winyah, Foxtide [8:00p] [18+] Indie Rock / Alternative Rock / Garage Pop
    • South Carolina indie rock band Winyah brings its explosive, guitar-driven sound to the Fine Line, touring behind September’s sophomore album Right Here, Right Now**. Formed in 2023 and named after the coastal South Carolina bay where its members grew up, the five-piece blends the urgency of modern alternative rock with Southern swagger, psychedelic textures, and emotionally direct songwriting. Led by vocalist Thomas Rowland, the band has quickly gone from college house shows to appearances at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, building a reputation for cathartic, high-energy performances. San Diego trio Foxtide opens behind its 2026 album** Entropy**, evolving from sun-soaked surf rock into a more expansive blend of garage rock, shimmering indie pop, and textured alternative music. For fans of: The Backseat Lovers, flipturn, Mt. Joy, Kings of Leon, and Arcy Drive.**
  • Turf Club - Sweeping Promises, Panel, Constant Insult [8:00p] [21+] Post-Punk / Power Pop / Garage Punk
    • Kansas-based post-punk band Sweeping Promises brings its electrifying combination of jagged guitars, driving bass lines, and irresistible punk hooks to the Turf Club, touring behind August’s You Say I Romanticize**. Formed by bassist/vocalist Lira Mondal and guitarist/producer Caufield Schnug, the duo channels the nervous energy of late-’70s art-punk and new wave, creating stripped-down, fiercely rhythmic music anchored by Mondal’s explosive vocals. The new album expands their raw recording approach into a heavier, more immediate sound without sacrificing their infectious melodies. Minneapolis band Panel, led by songwriter Annie Sparrows of The Soviettes and Green/Blue, adds melodic, ‘80s-influenced alternative rock, while longtime Twin Cities punks Constant Insult bring fast, scrappy garage punk and sharp power-pop hooks.**

Places decorated like proper Halloween?

Hi! I am looking for a restaurant or somewhere the bae and I can go Saturday. He LOVESSSS Halloween and hates when it’s like… kid/family friendly Halloween. Proper horror fan.

I don’t imagine anywhere is decorated to that level, but curious if there’s anywhere that could be good. Even just a stroll through a part of town.

We can go anywhere TC metro. I looked up tavern 400 but I think it’s not quite enough.

Thank you so much!

Box Wine

I’m wondering if you have a favorite box wine. I like Cabarnet or red Zinfandel. For whites I like Chardonnay, Pinto Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. I prefer dryer over sweet. I’m just looking for a decent wine for less that what bottles cost.
Thank you.

Recently visited chicago. The twin cities feels dead, sleepy and tired. In comparison.

Note I live in Marcy Holmes near the old white castle.

I have been residing in Minnesota for a few years now. at the time the biggest city I've ever lived in was Minneapolis.

Visiting Chicago has shocked me just how active and dense north chicago and downtown is.

North chicago near oz Park had people playing sports team games other events parents with kids when it was getting late. I never see this many people packing parks and community spaces.

The sheer density of the city is shocking. But also the fact that most of the bars and businesses remain open. It feels like so many places in the twin cities are empty of closing down outside of shitty chain stores.

There is a fatigued spirit in Minneapolis and st Paul that I do not feel in chicago. I was told chicago was broke. But the city feels like the people are thriving. I've lived near the university of Minnesota. But it doesn't feel the same

Maybe it's due to chicagos historical investment in rail and it's housing structure. Maybe it's due to chicago still have far more historical buildings?

While we have the light rail it doesn't really go where I want it to go. Its sort of terrible outside of it going to the airport. And it's slow.

I don't know maybe there's just work in chicago. Or maybe I'm not going outside enough as a pedestrian in minneapolis. But it feels like in chicago there are more community spaces for people to thrive in.

"Edit people are pointing to chicagos investment in better green spaces and street life."

We do have a fair bit of greenspace in minneapolis that's for sure. Yet the density of housing seems incomparable to Minneapolis where single family homes and duplexes dominate. I will try to learn more about the history of both Minneapolis and chicago .

Why does Minnesota always vote for the same families and party even though the states economy has underperformed significantly vs the avg. US state over the last decade? Are Minnesotans just risk averse/unable to embrace any change, whatsoever? Is it a cultural thing? Brain drain?

I have lived all over the US and most states I have been in change as their prospects deteriorate yet I find it so bizarre that Minnesota (which broadly underperformed economically the last decade) keeps electing the same families / party into power over the state. Worse yet, most states I’ve been in admit their issues and laugh about them/actively seek change to better their economic circumstances, but I’ve encountered so many locals who become incredibly defensive at the mere reality their state isn’t #1 economically and actually has very significant issues (much like other economically depressed rust belt states). I’m sure this post will even be banned as we can’t have any negative things said about our dear state.

Economic indicator | Minnesota rank
Real GDP growth | 33rd
Employment growth | 39th
Labor force growth | 40th
Per-capita income growth | 33rd
Real median household income growth | 46th

I’m not a republican by any means. I just find the culture of willful ignorance “everything is perfect here don’t ya know” while watching homelessness explode before my eyes, incomes not match housing, the lack of entrepreneurship and the same old tired companies who run the state, to be the literal antithesis to any progress.

The first step is actually acknowledging reality. And I don’t want to hear about how “but US news ranked us… blah blah”. I’m talking about economic performance.

What is this states deal? Why does it act like it’s Silicon Valley or NYC, while performing at the same level as other rust belt states.
