Plumber rec needed

Post image

Looking for a second opinion and estimate to replace everything shown in the picture. Our 6 year old merritage home already needs an entire new assembly.

Hey. Independant plumber here. The first question you should be asking is why it needs to be replaced. Are you having issues? What are they? A lot of companies in town will send out salesman without much trades experience to make sales even if you dont need them.

Thanks, that's why I want to get a couple more opinions from experts. There is definitely a leak in the main line coming out of the ground. The insulation is covered in calcium and the copper under neath is really green. Also the horizontal pipe coming off of that and going to the irrigation is completely rusted over. They said it was galvanized but all you can see is rust. Blew my mind for a 6 year old house

Sounds like they might have connected copper directly to galvy. But id have to see it to believe it because they stopped using galvy a long time ago. As far as the copper being green thats normal. Plumber probably didnt wipe the flux off after soldering.

Can you get us some better close ups of the corrosion?

I was a handyman in a past life, this just looks like regular-ass corrosion that doesn't need anything. All the insulation wrap is probably overkill unless this is waaayyyyy up in the foothills and it's probably just holding moisture against the surface of the pipes.

I highly recommend imperial plumbing. They recently replaced that part on my home. I got five quotes, theirs was not the lowest, nor was it the highest. I totally trusted them. They were honest, dependable and professional. Even though they ran into a few hiccups, they kept me informed and didn’t even try to upsell me. 520-222-7665

Thanks for the response, I have 1 quote so far from the plumbing branch of our AC company (who I like) for about $2300 not including a new irrigation control valve. Doesn't that sound on par with what you were seeing among your 5 quotes?

I've enjoyed using Cal's Plumbing. Not the cheapest but still local and each experience has been low effort and low stress for me, which is most important to me.

Have had multiple jobs done by RG & Sons where the water line comes up and they've been fantastic every time and fair priced. Probably the only company Ive gone out of my way to recommend before
