A new diner is coming to Tucson's Sunshine Mile
Good news, guys--looks like something will, in fact, be opening in the space where Welcome Diner once stood! 😁🤞🏻

This discussion thread is to provide a single place to talk about all of the various TUCSON ballot propositions and candidates. Please try to keep the discussion limited to initiatives and candidates IN TUCSON and Pima county. If you'd like to discuss state wide ballot items please see the Arizona 2026 Proposition + Election Discussion.
Here are some links you might find useful:

If you have other links or info, leave them in the comments. We may add them to the original post.
Keep in mind that personal attacks on other users will result in a ban. You're welcome to call Democrat or Republican leaders/candidates idiots, but you may NOT call other redditors idiots. The purpose of this thread to to create a civil space to discuss the elections and trolls, fear mongering, or comments that offer little or no value will be removed.

My girlfriends and I would like to get dressed up and go out for a drink or two. What are some cocktail bars in town that have a more upscale atmosphere? I know that it’s Tucson so no place is too fancy. We are okay with being the most dressed up.

Sad to see another local spot close doors. What are your guesses on what will take its place.

I just need a place to be sad about this.
Tl;dr Tucson Jr. Roadrunners is going to fold after this season because the new Mosaic sports complex refused to lease them any ice, opting instead to start their own corporate program run by Edge Sports, a for-profit company run by a Massachusetts real estate venture capitalist.
My 7yo daughter LOVES house hockey with the Jr. Roadrunners. She did Learn to Skate and Learn to Play, both inexpensive gifts to the community. She does House team now, which is our limit- we're not interested in high stress, high cost corporate travel hockey.
The Jr. RRs make hockey, a traditionally expensive sport, super affordable for younger ones by doing gear swaps and charging very reasonable rates for a very long season. The coaches are all volunteers and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's THE best sports education she's received in any sport here (including swimming, Xcountry, basketball, gymnastics, etc- she's an active kid). They are excellent with young kids, supportive of female players in the coed program, and have really truly coached her with love and expectation. We've been so so thrilled.
We got a message recently: "Based on the information currently available, it appears very likely that the Junior Roadrunners will cease operating youth hockey programs at the conclusion of the current season. Mosaic Quarter has indicated that it does not intend to lease ice to the Junior Roadrunners for the purpose of operating an independent youth hockey program. In partnership with Edge Sports Group, Mosaic Quarter intends to launch youth hockey programming beginning with the 2027-2028 season. The new programs are expected to offer significantly more ice time than has been available at the Tucson Arena, as well as access to coaching experience previously unavailable to our organization." Edge Sports Group has the trashiest, buzzword-iest corporate site and identity- it's hard to see anything here that looks like it's about kids, community, education, or anything other than money and real estate.
I don't want to borrow trouble, maybe it will be fine, but Edge Sports and Mosaic, if you're listening- Please make sure there's a program for kids who want to play "root beer league" low-stakes kid hockey. Make it affordable and support the community with the earnings. Consider hiring these dads who have done an excellent job out of love for kids and the ice. Don't let the spirit of this die through profit driven enshittification.
Jr. Roadrunners, you are loved and we are grateful. Let's make this last season amazing.

My dog is sick and pretty old, plus she's disabled, I cannot afford to euthanize her, I don't even have 50$ to my name and I am 18 and don't qualify for any kind of insurance. On top of that I am unemployed. I don't know what to do.

Hello everyone, I recently found a domestic rabbit that was abandoned outside my house. I checked with all of my neighbors and none of them had seen this rabbit. It seems to be over a year old and in a neglected state but no signs of injuries. I’ve reached out to PACC but got turned away. I’ve also tried to reach Humane Society but no answer so far. I am not sure of what to do since my living situation is unstable and unfit for a bunny as well as rising issues with allergies from my family. I also have no experience with handling a rabbit and everyday is becoming more and more stressful. Please help me out!

Ive lived in Tucson for a couple of years, and it seems like there are more and more car wrecks every week. What is going on? Is it people speeding? Are the roads that bad? How can these be preventable?

Hey everyone it might be my little brother's last year trick o' treating. He's turning 13 soon and all of his friends are telling him that he'll be too old to trick o' treat. I was wondering what neighborhoods are the best for trick o' treating. I know we could make his friends jealous if he gets a good amount of candy this year.

does anyone have advice on becoming confident in ur driving skills?!? i'm 17 and i want to get my license before college, i have my permit right now and ive been practicing with my older sister (though i haven't been going consistently..) im kinda sad cus it feels like i'm the only senior who doesn't know how to drive and whenever i do drive i get nervous and i don't feel confident if that makes sense. also it doesn't help that tucson is the 5th most dangerous city when it comes to driving. i really don't want to hurt anyone while i'm driving but i feel like that mentality is the reason why i drive like im terrified 😕 any advice?

Hello fellow Element lovers! I am wondering if there is a local mechanic who knows Elements inside out. I need a valve adjustment and want it done right. Extra credit of they know an indy mobile mechanic who will do it without having to pay dealership price. Are there any local Element lovers meetups in Tucson? I have a great mechanic but I for certain things I want to be 100% sure they know the quirks.
This is my 2003 EX automatic - 180k
I’ve done some basic repairs myself but I am a noob still gathering tools and watching videos.
Thanks!!!

I drive by the Tucson Mall everyday for work, but I just noticed that they put up “ARCO Living” fences around the area that used to be the Sears. Anyone know what they’re doing over there? I tried to look up any updates and I saw a Harkins was once planned there, but it was announced in 2020 and nothing ever came of it.

Where in the world is the guy going at 4pm Monday ?
Outside of CVS on the busiest street in town at midday.
Unbelievable I still see nature in the city realms..
Watch out for this homie if you see him.
Although he might be bird bait by now..
Just wow 😳

Does anyone know how Mount Lemmon fall colors are looking? I tried checking on all trails and saw a few different opinions for both Aspen draw and Meadows trails.

Looking for a second opinion and estimate to replace everything shown in the picture. Our 6 year old merritage home already needs an entire new assembly.
