PS App [Kingdom Hearts Final Mix]#89 Did not expect proud mode to be that tough

After taking a break after getting the plat on BBS and DDD and being halfway there for ReCom, I just realized I haven’t played KH1 since the initial release on PS2. So after a 2-3 year long break I chose to continue the hunt for all plats. Had a blast replaying it but proud mode really kicked my ass at times (fucking final rest and Ansem 3 fight!!!)

Off to KH2!

Showcase [Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2] #437 - I will never forget Spec Ops

Post image

The campaign was a masterpiece, and veteran was pretty easy compared with cod classic, but doing all the spec ops missions on solo, playing with 2 controllers at once for the 2 mandatory coop ones was harder or at the very least the same level as cod classic veteran, despite the challenge im doing being about offline platinums, i don't mind using online features or getting help, but i could not find anyone from brazil to help and i heard is impossible to play with people from other countries beacuse of lag, so i did it solo and it looks like spec ops on mw3 is even harder, lets see

fun fact is that i am from Rio, and today i had to go to the other side of the city and i saw the christ statue from the road, so i planned to get the platinum screenshot while also looking the statue

number 53 of my all ps3 offline platinums challenge

An absolutely breathtaking game in every aspect. The term masterpiece often gets overused in the gaming community but make no mistake, this game is definitely that and more.

The story of 2B, 9S and A2 is one of the most heartbreaking yet compelling stories I've seen, I only wish I could wipe it from memory and start it all over again.

Showcase [Pragmata] Platinum Difficulty Gauntlet - Part VI

Post image
61 Upvotes

You know, every now and then you come across a game that leaves you staring at the TV after the credits roll. A game that leaves you feeling empty after it’s completed. A game that imprints itself on you in such a deep and profound way. Pragmata was one of those games.

I love so much about this game that I feel a little lost as to where to start.

The game’s biggest strength is easily the relationship between Hugh and Diana. Every single moment is beautiful and heartwarming. Grace Saif’s stellar performance as Diana is up there as some of the best I’ve experienced, and combined with some incredible writing, Diana steals the show whenever she is on screen. She is this eternally bright spark in a bleak, depressing sci-fi setting, and her relationship with Hugh extends into a relationship with you as the player. You want to talk to her. You want to collect REM data to give to her in the shelter. She transcends what an NPC should be. Make no mistake, this entire game is about their father-daughter relationship. The plot exists to further their bond, no other reason.

The plot itself is fairly predictable and safe, but it doesn’t need to be anything different. In fact, I’d argue that the game’s predictability strengthens its emotional aspect. I won’t say much more for fear of spoiling it, but for those that have finished the game, you’ll know what I mean.

Diana isn’t just a nice story beat; Capcom’s innovative hacking system forces a reliance upon her. Hugh is useless without her. The combat is fast paced, demanding you to manage positioning, the hacking system to provide openings, and offence all at once. It does this all without becoming overwhelming and is always enjoyable. I never got sick of the combat, and there’s a huge variety in ways to overcome the game’s many combat scenarios. The few boss fights are all great, and on lunatic difficulty they provide a decent challenge. You have to be tactical to overcome them, especially the upgraded version of the final fight.

Another small thing, but I really liked the shelter. It’s exactly what a hub should be. Seeing it gradually change as you gather collectibles is incredibly satisfying. Collectibles aren’t there without purpose, they again serve to provide additional aspects to Diana and Hugh’s relationship, and the shelter is where it all comes together.

Also, goes without saying, but the game looks and sounds fantastic. It runs smoothly, and I experienced no performance issues during many run.

Usually this is where I’d say what I didn’t like about the game… and my only real complaint is the length. When my only issue is that I’m left wanting more of the game I’m playing, that’s a pretty damn good sign I enjoyed it.

Platinum was a fairly simple affair, beat the game, collect the things, do some miscellaneous stuff. You know the drill. The game is rated a 6/10 difficulty but this is really only pertinent to lunatic difficulty and the final boss, and even then you’re given enough tools to reliably overcome all of the truly difficult obstacles.

I encourage everyone to give Pragmata a go, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. It has some of the best writing I’ve come across in a long time, and it’s exceptionally rare I care about the characters in the same way I did here. And, on the infinitesimally small chance someone at Capcom is reading this - give us a sequel, thanks.

10/10

Screenshot [Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve #88] – I HATE flying in games, but so far AC8 is my favorite game this year

Post image

I usually hate having to drive anything in games because I’m just really bad at it. Cars, motorcycles, boats, planes, skateboards, even broomsticks — if I have to control it, chances are I’m going to crash it.

So it was pretty out of character for me to give Ace Combat 8 a try, but the trailers and everything I saw about the game looked so incredible that I had to give it a shot. At the same time, I was terrified that I probably wouldn’t be able to platinum it.

I’d never played an Ace Combat game before, and at the beginning I genuinely had no idea what I was doing. I started on Pilot and spent a lot of time just trying to figure out how to control the plane without constantly overcorrecting or flying in circles.

Normally, I hate having to replay games for NG+ or difficulty trophies. By the second playthrough, it usually starts to feel like I’m serving a sentence. But for some reason, I kept wanting to replay AC8 and get better at it.
And it wasn’t just for the trophies. I wanted to learn how to fly better so I could actually fly alongside my allies, protect them, and fight with them to take our country back.

The soundtrack is incredible. The radio chatter, the story, and the way some of the missions build up gave me goosebumps more times than I expected. I even cried at one point, which isn’t something I normally do with games. I honestly can’t remember the last time a game made me feel this way.

The microtransactions are annoying, obviously. But you know what? At this point, just let them make their money lol. I really hope the game sells well and the team gets to keep making more.

More than anything, AC8 reminded me why I enjoy games in the first place — the curiosity of trying something completely new, learning how it works, slowly getting better at it, and discovering something I never thought I would enjoy. After playing games for so long, I think it’s easy to forget that feeling sometimes, and I really appreciate the teams that can still make me feel that way.
9/10 for me.

Big departure from how Silent Hill normally feels but still made for a good game. Terrifying with headphones on.

For anyone struggling with the Forever ending, this is how the point system works. Kept my tally going as I played and got it on the first attempt.
