Announcement PSA: A guide to better results

1.8k Upvotes

Hi guys and gals. I've been here a while, and over my time I've seen a lot of posts sink to the bottom, without a single answer, or at best, very few. And none that solved the case.

I have noticed a clear pattern with these posts, and I will now share with you my tips to you newbies, so that you can get the help you need.

Firstly: When you make a new post, you will see this:

Platform(s):

Genre:

Estimated year of release:

Graphics/art style:

Notable characters:

Notable gameplay mechanics:

Other details:

Even though, in red, you are warned that while optional, you should follow this template... many of you do not.

Let me be clear: Follow this template.

Put simply, this template contains all the information we really need to solve your problem. Virtually every time I click a post that has not followed this, they have rambled on about nothings, while omitting critical details.

This format, for new and old alike, is very readable, and prompts for every data-point needed.

I know that you want to customize your message, that if you could just explain it, it would be better. I know you think that. You are wrong. Put all that in 'other'. Even if you end up saying it twice, follow the template.. add to it your story at the bottom.

Secondly: Following this template. You're rambling about your best mates Amiga-500 or whatever instead of telling us about the game aside, this is where they really go wrong.

Let's get something straight right now. We are not mind readers. It's impressive, really, how little information it seems we can work off. I mean, we solve some real tough ones with nothing sometimes, but still, we can't see that memory in your head. So you need to be as descriptive in every one of these fields as you can be...

And sometimes you really don't know. That's fine, we can work with surprisingly little information, but "old graphics" under art style... what are we supposed to do with that? Mate, I was playing on Atari-2600's, are we talking Wizard of Wor here?

Let me help you out a bit:

Platform(s): Whatever you played it on. But unless it's really all you know (very possible), don't write 'my mates pc'. Was it PC or Mac?

Genre:

First person does NOT imply shooter. Nor do any of the others. Try to answer this one in two steps:

What was the camera like (assuming it's not a text adventure)? Was it First person?, 3rd person, 2d? Top down or side on? Or maybe even isometric 2d?

Then, what kind of game? Real time strategy, point and click? Was it a fighter, action or platformer?

Good, now we know what KIND of game we are all trying to remember for you.

Estimated year of release:

"Between 2000-2005" is fine, something like that. "Mid 90's maybe?". I don't see many people mess this up, but I have seen people write "old". That is not ok. If you write old and expect it to mean anything to me, I will fight you.

Also, as always "Sorry, no idea" is always acceptable but try to give at least something. "Couldn't have been later than 2015, though"

Great, so even if roughly, we know WHEN.

Graphics/art style:

THIS. This is where you guys always mess up. This section right here I have found can be the difference between an answer, and a silent slink to the bottom. This is your moment.

This, really, should be the best-formed part of your memory. Even if you can only remember a single frame, a single image, it's so much to go on for us.

DETAIL. Was it a gloomy grimdark world of sadness, or a bright bubbly rainbow filled Mario-world?

Was it cartoony, or otherwise stylized somehow, or was it trying to be realistic?

Anything notable about the art direction? Was it going for a cyberpunk kinda feel, or a gritty war realism dirt and blood sort of direction?

If it was set over a long time, did the seasons change? Was there a winter in your game?

Remember when you hit people, and the screen had that awesome flash and your hands got bloody? Yeah, well we don't, unless you tell us.

Ok, so now we are really narrowing it down. This right here is often enough to go on, on its own.

Notable characters:

Anything at all you can remember here.

"There were only tanks, but you could play as both Germans and Americans"

"There was one really tough guy right after you left your office, he had an eyepatch, a white shirt with what looked like grease stains, and said 'this is for my sister'. I think maybe he was a cyborg"

"You play as some kind of Asian girl, you had a tattoo over your right eye and arm, a black tank top and white pants and I remember you always had only one red glove for some reason. I don't remember the arm, but the eye tattoo looked sort of like ancient Egyptian eye makeup, but a modern take"

Knowing nothing else about the game, I bet that last one there gets comments noting the game she is from. Details, details.

Notable gameplay mechanics:

Surely, you get the idea by now. This is tied with the importance of the graphics/art style. As much detail as you can here.

Other details:

NOW you may blab on about how you only played this game once at a winter solstice in 1782 with your grandmother from Tahiti.. as if that helps.

Edit: So it's been brought up that the template doesn't appear on mobile. While /u/wipeout4wh is aware of this and hopefully, something can be done... still, if you can, use the template. If you can't, maybe check back and at least make sure your post addresses all of the points the template does.

Also, my post seems to be saying NOT to add any custom details. So I want to re-enforce, please do. In fact, after you do the template, feel free to write out your post as you were going to without it. Just put it all in 'other'. Don't try and make your whole post like that, if possible. Even if you end up saying the same things twice, that's ok.

Now I'm going to take a moment to clarify something, though. This isn't some immutable law of the universe, and your post is destined to fail if you don't do this. It's just a very strong general trend I have noticed over a long time.

It's not that this template has some kind of magical powers or something. It's that this template prompts the questions that need answers.

When you go all rogue on us and try and type your explanation from scratch... you mess it up. You just forget to add everything that you know, and that we need to know. The template makes it very hard to do that. It's just so very easy to get typing, and by the end forget to tell us what kind of game it actually is. Especially when you are getting random flashbacks, and hazy memories, and you start getting frazzled and such halfway though.

While it might make my edit as long as the first post, I think maybe an example of the kind of post that is just too common here, and almost always helpless, wouldn't go astray here. So here we go:

Now this one is a pretty bad case, true, and I suppose might even be a troll post, but it's actually a good illustration of the problem either way.

It was on my old computer and I was using an emulator so I have no idea what system it was for. It was 8bit graphics and you played this orange cat that was constantly bouncing on a trampoline I think? And you had to navigate it through the city and face a weird boss at the end that would float in the sky. Sorry I can't remember more!

Let's break it down a bit. What kind of game is this? A puzzler or an action game? Who knows.

How old is it? I mean, Minecraft basically has 8bit graphics. Oh he said... "my old computer"... I will fight you.

Why did you bounce on the trampoline? Were there platforms or walkways or something, or was it just a big open space? There are bad guys then? How did they get around?

Now (he?) says that he can't remember more, but I actually asked about the boss fight:

You say 'face a boss', in what way? Can the cat attack? Was this top down or side on? When you say navigate a city, what do you mean?

The reply:

Definitely a side-scroller, I'm sure. You would encounter a boss at the end, the boss would slide onto the screen and it was usually pretty strange-looking. I think one of the bosses might've been a clown. I meant that the different "levels" were different cities with different backgrounds, I think. It's a pretty obscure game

Also you would be continuously bouncing. As in, you had to position the trampoline underneath the cat to bounce it up

So you don't even control the cat. And it's a side-scroller. Thats pretty important information. But the real issue here is that he knows this stuff. He just either didn't know to, or forgot, to tell us.

The template would have made it just so apparent how much information he was missing, and we probably would have got a whole bunch more information. Sadly, while there were some guesses, and a surprising number of up-votes, this post is just another one to join the endless unsolved on their journey ever down.

[Meta][2026] I would rather people post with no images than use AI prompts to generate images

Maybe it's just me, I will personally admit that it feels like its petty of me to complain, however i am going to.

I really dislike AI images just in general and i feel annoyed seeing people use them because it sometimes hampers really quality posts of people trying to find help. I feel like it also informs falsely about game expectations and what people will accept as they have solved the game.

I don't think people will agree with me and thats fine, i just wanted to post about how i personally think it degrades the quality of the sub

Ikenfell [Xbox One] [late 2010s] Pixel art turn-based game taking place in a magic school, MC has no magic and goes to the magic school to find lost sister

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I remember playing this game somewhere around the late part of the 2010s, maybe the first few years of the 2020s.

I remember the game having pixel art and turn-based mechanics; you could select up to three people to be in your party at one time, and they all had different magic and roles.

I drew a picture of the MC; she had long, straight, ginger hair and a blue and pink outfit, if I remember correctly. She had no magic herself, but had an older sister who went to the magic school the game is set in, but she disappeared, so the MC is looking for her. I think the MC gets magical powers through the game herself as well. Our first two party members were a boy; I think he had a more "nerdy" look and had book-themed attacks, and a girl, but I don't remember much about her.

The other girl in blue is one I remember the appearance of more; she had white, curly hair (a little similar to Bede from Pokémon Sword/Shield) and had a blue, baggy turtleneck and dark blue pants. She was kind of mean and came from a noble family, though I'm a little unsure about the noble part. At some point in the game, she was trapped in a mirror and got a lot of character development, especially towards the end of the game.

I also kind of remember two bosses; the first is a big star you meet in a planetarium. He seems friendly initially, but it's revealed he ate a witch and plans to eat your party next. After you defeat him, he spits the witch out and gets friendly again. The witch in particular was a very pretty girl; she was older than the other characters in your party so far, she wore yellow, was poc and had paint-themed attacks.

The other boss was one of the characters before turning into this boss towards the end of the game. He was some rich guy who had a bodyguard, but the bodyguard died, and the guy was so overcome with despair that he turned into this crow thing. I think the fight had three stages, and this crow-like one was the final stage.

Two areas I remember are a big library and the school courtyard. It was very pretty, had lots of trees and was pretty dim, except for the fireflies scattered around. I think you walked on wooden planks in some areas of it.

I'm sorry for having so little information; I hope I'm not making it too difficult to find!

Thank you in advance to anyone who might know this game!

The Wild at Heart [Xbox 1] [late 2010s] A pair of siblings crawl into the hollow of a tree and fall into a world with cute little magical creatures they explore and fight monsters with them

Post image
10 Upvotes

Like the other game I just posted about, this is another game I enjoyed playing in the late 2010s to the first few years of the 2020s, though I got stuck in the story at some point and never got to finish it.

The game had a 2d artstyle, and I seem to recall it having a very hand-drawn look, maybe even with a hint of watercolor. The colors were pretty vibrant; it was a colorful game. You mostly got around by solving puzzles, stuff like activating pressure plates; you also had to gather a bunch of these cute little creatures that did different things based on what kind they were. I think there was an orange one that exploded. The different variants were mostly specific to a certain area under the tree, if I remember correctly, but once you gathered them, they followed you until they died.

The main plot was that there was a pair of siblings; the older one was a lanky boy with a red hoodie, and you played as him most of the time. The younger sibling was a girl (90% sure about it, at least). I remember she was much shorter and stubby and vaguely recall her having glasses and pigtails, but those details I'm not too sure about. They had an uncle or grandpa who had a camp, and they were staying there when they came across a weird tree. They climbed into the hollow below it and fell into this world where there are mostly these cute little humanoid creatures; the default one was yellow and looked something like the drawing I made. There were also some monsters, and I think there was a corruption spreading, and the children were appointed to be the guardians of the little creatures.

One I specifically remember was an icy one; there was a monster there that I couldn't figure out how to beat there, and i think there was also a cold effect in those areas, but that part i'm a little uncertain about. The monster I recall looking like a big deer, but it might be Mandela effect from the Deerclops in Don't Starve.

Again, sorry for the little info, i hope i'm not making the job too difficult.

Thank you in advance!

[SNES][1991 - 1995?] A Game With a Top-Down Perspective. Unsure of Actual Genre. Seemed to be Based in Medieval Fantasy?

Platform(s): SNES

Genre: Unsure/Unknown (Possible Action RPG/JRPG)

Estimated year of release: 1991 - 1995?

Graphics/art style: 2D Pixel Sprites.

Notable characters: I don't know any of the characters.

Notable gameplay mechanics: I can't exactly recall.

Other details: Okay. This is seriously all I have to go on for this one. It is purely anecdotal, so please bare with me. I deeply apologize for how vague this truly is.

Around the time when Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island was being previewed for the SNES, I was at a Target and I saw this huge SNES/Gameboy information kiosk. On the display kiosk, there were these thumbnails of all these different games that you could push and it would show a small preview of the game.

Now I don't remember really much of the game in question. However, there was one moment in the preview that stood out to me that seemed a bit shocking. It showed the main character (couldn't describe who) seemed to be talking to some other character (again, no idea who or what they were even wearing) and then that other character went up some stairs (akin to like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past kind of stair climbing animation in a doorway). Then suddenly, it seemed that other character came falling/tumbling back down the same stairs, but looked like he had been impaled or wounded or something with spikes, arrows or something on his body? He ends up in front of the main character and I think there was further dialogue, but I don't remember what was said.

This is seriously the only brief moment that has lasted in my memory for me all these years, but I never really found out what that game actually was. I don't know if it is Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Mana, Terranigma or any other game similar to those because I've never actually played any of those titles to have experienced that moment in the preview before. All I really have to go on is that brief, curious moment. This is a huge stretch, but if anyone has a clue, it sure would give this old fart a ease of rest about this.

I've tried at several different points in time to find footage of SNES previews/trailers that might have been used for that kiosk they had in that Target, but it's practically lost media now... I apologize if this isn't enough to go off on to help identify it.

i remember playing this game on my huawei phone around 2016-2017. it was very similar to elastic man, where you could squish and stretch the face, but instead of morty there was mojee on a blue background. i think the game was in japanese or maybe chinese. i downloaded it from the play store. i really loved playing this game as a kid, and i’ve been trying to find it again for a while now. i don’t even know if it’s still available, but i’d love to find it or at least prove that it existed.

does anyone remember a game like this?

[PC/Flash][2000-2015] Mario clone but death is permanent

Platform(s): PC, Flash/Web Browser specifically

Genre: Parody, Platformer

Estimated year of release: 2000-2015

Graphics/art style: 2D Flash

Notable characters: Main character is a stereotypical nerd, voiced to sound like a stereotypical nerd. Otherwise unremarkable.

Notable gameplay mechanics: Mario parody. You play as a normal guy who has to rescue your normal girlfriend from Bowser. However if you took too much damage or fell into a pit you died permanently. After your death cutscene there were additional scenes of your girlfriend crying at your grave, Bowser being arrested for negligence, etc. After the bonus cutscenes all you would see was your tombstone after every refresh and flowers/grass grew over top of it over time. The only way to try again was by clearing your browser cookies.

[PC][Early 2000's] Fantasy strategy game

• Upvotes

Platform(s): PC

Genre: Fantasy, strategy

Estimated year of release: 2000-2005

Graphics/art style: Detailed 2D sprites

Notable characters: Typical fantasy races with humans, elves, dwarves, maybe orcs.

Notable gameplay mechanics: Potentially turn based

Other details: You move on squares around a darkened map that lights up as you move on the around. I remember a forest environment with wyverns as enemies. The wyvern was pretty distinctive and looked more serpentine and coiled than a traditional dragon. When you encounter an enemy you can choose to battle and it switches (almost like 2D Fire Emblem) to detailed 2D sprites. The player can control characters like paladins and other fantasy characters.

Sherwood Dungeon [Web browser][Early 2000s] Multi-player 3D dungeon crawler game that was a part of 3d multi-player web browser games collection (i think)

• Upvotes

When I was little, I didn't have access to many actual games and spent most of my time on flash games. Eventually i found a collection of game where one of them was a medieval game where you could dungeon crawl with other players into layers and layers of a dungeon.

I remember a green scenery with white stones, the ability to shop and maybe party up? And then going to a door to the side of the white/gray structure to fight monsters and find loot in treasure chest.

Another thing i remember from the game is the fact that it seemed to be part of a collection. The website i was playing it on had other 3d multi-player games. I don't remember all of the but one of them was an astraunot one where you could talk to other astronaut, use a space car i think... but most importantly, just your jetpack. You could use it in a way where you can actual consistantly gain height until you can reach a small moon on which you can walk and it was kind of a challenge to get to it.

I don't have a lot of visual recollection but i hope it's enough for someone to at least point a finger to their screen and shout "I played something like that!!!"

Thank you :)

[Pc][2024-2026] horror game that was described to be like fear and hunger but 3d

• Upvotes

I remember a short form video about a horror game that the comments describe it as "funger but in 3d" the game revolves you being in a castle and it's dungeon and you had different monsters you need to be careful about

I know the youtuber said one was blind and another was deaf

I also remember that the monsters would hurt you in some ways, either poison you or rip your limbs or eyes and you'd have to go to the town's clearic or medic(I forgot which one) and you'd healed, I also remember one of the comments saying the jester gives you the bubonic plague

Help me find an old PS2 game I used to play [PS2][early to mid 2000s] where you played as a little sorcerer in a collectathon platformer

It was this sort of platformer/puzzle game where you played as this cartoony little sorcerer and utilized spells to both defeat enemies and clear very rudimentary puzzles like shooting down something to clear a path. I think you also collected gems, sort of similarly to Spyro.

I remember it being in this kind of chibi/kid friendly artstyle and was rather easy so it was likely aimed at kids/young teens. Everything was incredibly colorful, much like a Spyro level.

[Flash] [2010s] 2D Snowman dress-up/photography game

• Upvotes

The game had a selection menu on the left side, you could select backgrounds, choose accessories(?) for the snowman and add props(?). I remember there was music playing in the background. You could drag around stuff to position them and save the scene you created to desktop as an image. I distincly remember one of the backgrounds being a snowy street that was kinda sloped down towards the perspective, but I'm not sure. I also remember the graphics were pixelated and not good, so it's not those first few games that show up when you search keywords. Thanks for all the help

[Flash][2012] Side-scrolling shooter where picking up a duplicate weapon upgrades it (orange theme, kid protagonist, shotgun recoil flight)

• Upvotes

I used to play this Flash game on Friv years ago (roughly 2010s) and I can’t remember the name. Here’s what I remember:

Gameplay:

  • Side-view action/platformer shooter
  • You play as a kid, and the game had a mostly orange color theme
  • You progress through levels finding weapons and fighting enemies
  • You could only carry 2 weapons at a time
  • If you picked up a duplicate of a weapon you already had, it upgraded and unlocked new properties
  • The shotgun is the one I remember best: with two shotguns combined into the upgraded version, you could shoot downward and the recoil launched you upward, so you could basically fly
  • Each level ended with a boss fight

Visuals:

  • I vaguely remember the levels and enemies looking slimy or acidic, like toxic goo, but I’m not 100% sure about this part

I’m not sure whether it was pixel art or a more cartoony style, and I don’t remember the exact name of the weapons. I’ve searched for it for a while without luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

[PC Win/DOS][1990?-2000] Sprite based angled top down exploration game. At one point you could get turned into a frog, this made you weaker but smaller and able to fit through gaps.

• Upvotes

Platform(s): PC DOS, or DOS-compatible Windows 95.

Genre: Exploration/combat?

Estimated year of release: Before 2001. Probably mid-90s.

Graphics/art style: Sprite based

Notable characters: MC was probably a knight or robot figure. Someone armored IIRC. There was also a witch who could curse you.

Notable gameplay mechanics:

Other details:

I played this on my computer sometime before 2001, likely sometime in the mid 90s. Things that I remember:

  • The main view was semi-overhead. I do not think it was isometric, more of a straight-on angled overhead view. (Think the sort of angle the old Zelda or Pokemon games took, but not as cartoony, and not quite as overhead so you could see taller thinner bodies and not just the tops of heads.)
  • I think the main character was a knight or robot figure. Someone metallic?
  • Some points in the environment could not be passed as a humanoid figure, but it was possible to get cursed by a witch or similar. This turned you into a frog or other small animal. You could not attack as the frog (I think), but your smaller size let you pass through gaps you could not as a humanoid. I don't remember ever finding a way to turn back from a frog, but that was probably just something I couldn't find at the time. Turning into a frog was not a central mechanic, IIRC, but was just something that could happen in one section of the map.
  • I remember the game being set outdoors, vaguely medieval and lightly forested.
  • I am pretty sure the game name started with "R", and may have had the word "Robot" in it. I am not 100% on this, however.
  • The game had combat in it and you could die. This was not turn-based combat, it happened in real time.
  • The graphics were sprite-based and not 3D. Very old-school look to them, smallish character sprites.
  • I think it may have been a DOS-based game, but I am not totally sure. I definitely played it on an old PC, either a DOS-only machine or a Windows 95 machine that could play DOS games.
  • I vaguely recall the game name starting with 'R'. Might have had 'Robot' in it? I'm pretty sure it was a one word title. Not fully sure on this though, I might be misremembering part of the title details.
  • The game was not an adventure game, nor a point-and-click game.
  • The game would have been available in the American market. It might have been downloaded shareware, I'm not sure.
  • I have a vague recollection that you might have been able to upgrade or switch weapons. I think an axe may have been a possible upgrade.
  • I do not remember any story details, and I'm not even sure there was one. This might be just because I did not progress far enough when I was younger.

[Android][Prior to 2022] Short pixelated game ending in the MC suffering a terminal disease related to programming

• Upvotes

I remember a short game published by a Vietnamese person on the play store which I believe was a mobile adaptation of a game for a game jam. It featured a pixelated 2d view where the MC wakes up and has to complete multiple tasks, one of them involving a puzzle which involves colors, and the end of the game it shows the MC in a hospital room with his father and the doctor says something along the lines of "your son is diagnosed with critical loop (or some other programming related term or something related to a loop)". Pretty sure the guy who published it also has another more successful game or two published on the play store but might be wrong

[Nintendo DS] [Early 2000's?] Old DS Game with a silhouette running along rooftops?

Platform(s): Nintendo DS

Genre: Parkour, at least. Maybe like adventure as well?

Estimated Year of Release: Early 2000's I believe. I can't think of a specific year. Maybe around '04?

Graphics/Art Style: Sort of dark and mysterious from the shot I remember. It was very like 'rogue parkour-ing on rooftops to get to something' sort of vibe.

Notable Characters: N/A (Helpful, I know)

Notable Gameplay Mechanics: Basics? Running, jumping, maybe a double jump or wall jump?

Other Details: The shot of the game I remember looked like it was in a desert-esk city. It was 2D from what I remember and there were palm trees you could jump on top of. I vaguely remember the character you play as looking almost like a rabbit(?) but it was so long ago I have no idea if that's even remotely true.

I've been having near fever dreams about this game to the point where I can't tell if I did actually play this game, or my brain is tricking me. I distinctly remember playing some game on my brother's DS and I was stuck at a point where I would spawn on the top of a palm tree and had to like, jump onto rooftops in a city in the desert, it seemed like. I can't remember if there were coins or fruit or something to collect. But I KNOW I played a game like this and for the life of me I can't figure out what it was.

I get it's a long shot trying to ask from so little information, but if anyone has ANY ideas, please help a guy out 🙏

Funky Karts [Mobile][2015-2017] 2.5D Racing Platformer game

Thumbnail gallery
59 Upvotes

Hey, guys! I’m trying to recall the name of a mobile game (for Android) that I played a lot between 2015 and 2017. Here are all the specific details I remember regarding its progression and mechanics:

In terms of visual style and mechanics, the game featured 3D graphics, but the gameplay was strictly two-dimensional (side-scrolling—moving forward, backward, up, and down). The controls were simple (forward, backward, and jump), and the art style was cute, vibrant, and childlike—with a "rounded" aesthetic. There was also a translucent, grayscale "ghost player" that would run alongside you, acting as an opponent and showing the optimal route.

You could run along walls and ceilings if you were moving fast enough; furthermore, jumping would give your vehicle a boost perpendicular to the angle of the surface you were on.

The character you controlled was a tiny cart with four large wheels. The driver—a small, cute creature (resembling a little bear)—was visible only from the head up, bobbing around inside the vehicle. As I recall, the goal of each level was to reach the end of the course within a set time limit.

The game began in a "forest" environment. The scenery was reminiscent of the *Green Hill Zone* style, featuring platforms and walls with green grass on top and brown earth underneath, set against a sky or a green background (I don’t quite remember which). However, after completing a few levels in this biome, there was a transition to a new "map," during which the cart was captured and locked inside an iron cage.

Following this capture, the game shifted to a second world—a dark dungeon or castle. The platforms/walls were made of gray stone blocks, and the background looked like a dark wall (as seen in the second image). In this castle map, progress was divided into "rooms" (I remember running around along the walls, not knowing how to move on to the next areas), and the player had to break certain wooden platforms—either on the floor or on the walls—to drop down or advance to the next rooms and descend further into the dungeon. I never quite figured out the exact physics for breaking these wooden planks consistently, so I ended up getting stuck at that point.

Does anyone remember a mobile game from that time that matches this description? Thanks!

So basically you play as someone who has lost memories and you are searching on your teenagehood laptop because you were trying to see if you would find anything about your past and you ended up solving a murder about one of your best friends (the best friend is a woman who got killed by her boyfriend who is also your best friend) there is multiple endings I played the demo but now I can't remember the name of the game

[pc][2001] top-down 2d mmorpg in beta: could craft cakes and vend them

i believe there was a site called mpogd or something (not limited to mmorpg genre) I used to discover free mmo games to play, most of which were in a testing phase. I was keen on trying experimental ones, such as “a tale in the desert”, or ones that had good graphic animations/sprites that didn’t require a good gpu like ragnarok online. This had neither.

during one summer, i believe 2001 or 2002, i played a top-down 2d mmorpg game of which I have little memory of other than being able to vend items (like ragnarok online: character sits there with something to click above the avatar) and crafting included making food and power-up items, which may have required some skill (chance to success?) and some resources to make (tho, I don’t recollect there being any flour..). Maybe the cake power upped a certain stat.. Was there soups..?? I feel like there was some candy, perhaps a chocolate bar consumable item too..

it had an archer, or at least being able to use a bow ‘n arrow. That was quite good/broken as you could find points to lure enemies in the level to hit enemies safely.. some kind of cliff?

theres a good chance it had classes, but not certain..

there was a bear that was quite strong, maybe in a foresty environment—the cliff was in that area!

it was likely a grind to level up.

gl

im probably using this sub in the wrong way..

[Android] [2015-2018] Minecraft clone

Hello! I’m looking for help finding a specific game. It was a Minecraft-style clone that used to be available on the Play Store, but it seems to have been removed. Unfortunately, I don’t have any screenshots left. Here’s how the gameplay worked: You always start in a winter biome, where it’s almost constantly night, featuring an aurora borealis (northern lights) effect. The crafting recipes are more complex than in Minecraft; the game includes materials like copper and brass, and you can use a knife as a tool. The game leans toward a voxel-based aesthetic. I’ve tried searching using Gemini, but I haven’t had any luck—it’s definitely not *Vintage Story*, *SurvivorCraft*, *WinterCraft*, *IceCraft*, or any of those; it’s something entirely distinct. There are definitely no cars, airplanes, NPCs, or firearms. I don’t think there’s even a creative mode—only survival. In fact, there aren’t any 3D elements that would feel out of place within the Minecraft-style aesthetic. If anyone has seen or remembers this, please help me find it.

[PC?] [2010s] Molten Armor Game??

This is so vague, so I'm not sure if it'll be enough to help. But there is this game I'm thinking of, and I feel like the final upgrade to your armor was a molten variant (maybe a sword as well?). In my head, it's like a flash game/mobile game, something that you would've found on Coolmathgames, not like Minecraft or something. I feel the texture made the rocks really chunky, and there was lava running through it. I played it probably like a decade or so ago, so I don't think it's that new. Any help would be appreciated; I just keep seeing images of the armor like a flashbang in my head and can't get it out lol

[PC/Browser game][2013-2016] Ninja game

So, I don't have any pictures or anything really.. But this was a game I played on my old computer when I was young. Its a 2D game, most likely on a browser game site like Kongregate or similar.

You play as a ninja, and I remember the overall theme as light blue/blue. I think you were sneaking around chopping dudes heads off with katanas or whatever ninjas do. If im not mistaken there was an elevator somwhere in the game aswell.

Very vague description but if anyone has any ideas please respond. :)

Spartan: Total Warrior [Ps2][2005-2012] god of war clone that is roman not greek

I remember the plot vividly but can not find the game despite searching.

The game was set in ancient Rome, you're either playing a roman or a Greek and fighting against the Romans. The gods are actively involved and the final boss is Mars/Ares in the coliseum. There's a whole plot line around 2 brothers whom you spend the majority game time with, then one of them gets corrupted by the gods and becomes a boss fight. A voice line that sticks out in my head is "man the balista"
