Mod Update: Brand new flairs + "AI" Flair Requirement

We are starting work on adding new flairs to the community, alongside things like Question, Discussion, and Collection. We also now have an AI flair, which will be required from now on if your project has AI involved in it.

Just picked this up for $70. I purchased the recommended controllers seperately for $19.99 each. What do I need to know about it? Never had one growing up. Fenrir or Saroo ODE? Any easy mods?

Saturn usb-c psu

Post image

I recently revived my old Saturn (ntsc USA, I live in Europe) with the 30 years old step down adapter everything was ok. But I had the idea to try to install this new psu and use a regular usb PD. It works, apparently, I was playing several titles with no problem but I found out I have no longer access to system memory… could this be related? Do you have any experience with these PSUs?

I’ll leave the link below,

someone on Twitter suggested I do this game, didn’t know the Sega Saturn had gems like this. I mean the art alone is crazy, soundtrack is great. Writing was heavy surprising, it’s an adult story for sure. inspired me to go purchase the art books from the artist of this game off Japanese sites. Should be pretty polished, plz enjoy and thank you

if you want to keep up with my work, my Twitter handle is @ abyss

EDIT: works on a real Sega Saturn console, thanks to glow162 for the discovery

EDIT 2: 28/10/2026, the build I uploaded was the penultimate draft version, I didn’t realize. the final version v145 is uploaded

The Saturn Rabbit Hole. Mod, Saroo, Shmups and Collecting

Hey Saturners,

Wanted to share how this Saturn business is going for me.

After a teardown and deep clean, I did a simple mod for 50/60Hz conversion. First time soldering and way cheaper learning to do it than paying someone. Now I have all the gear for other mods if needed. Having the proper 60Hz speed and full 4:3 aspect ratio is a game changer. An S-Video cable is on the way too.

The Saroo as I'm sure you all know is an awesome bit of kit. The faster load times are a huge convenience. Although, I feel loading up a full list of ROMs can take away some of the buzz. Too many choices. I'm limiting myself to the Japanese pickups and PAL versions I have for now. Trying to stick to playing the physical versions I own – Radiant Silvergun included! The Saturn version is out of reach, but I picked it up on Switch instead.

The PAL Saturn game cases needed some love, so I reglued them and got some inexpensive acrylic cases to protect them.

The Saturn shmups are excellent! 2D Sprite goodness. I've been down the YouTube rabbit hole watching best-of videos to learn more. The Saturn is a gem (hidden for me).

I reached a new state of Saturn bliss yesterday

Found a mint copy of Fighters Megamix and when I got home, my new 8bitdo M30 had just arrived. Holy cow. The controller is perfection.

I just recently played VF2 for the first time on Saturn and it immediately shot up to my 2nd favorite game on the system behind Sega Rally. Fighters Megamix expands on VF2 with more moves, dodging, endless arenas, a cool motion blur effect and more. Just the Virtua fighter scenario could have easily been published by itself as Virtua Fighter 3 (or 2.5?). Maybe with all the new coding tools, someone could port the VF3 stages into this version.

My first Sega console was the Dreamcast (bought on launch day) so totally missed out the Saturn until about 2005 when I found one at a garage sale. It’s always been a novelty item for me but more and more, I’m discovering how much of a powerhouse game system the Saturn is!

We're getting a flood of Saturn translations

While some of these are still very rough around the edges, just this month alone there's been a huge flood of playable translations releases. Most are using LLMs in some capacity which I know is a third rail for a lot of people (my own personal position is like anything else it's a tool that can and should be utilized, but without human guidance it produces low quality work), but for those of us who don't speak Japanese it's really opening up a lot of new games to play.

While a game like Devil Summoners deserves polish, others I'm just happy to have available.

Should I even bother releasing my project

I know I’m gonna get automatic hate for this and it’s 100% warrented, I’m genuinely really sorry for doing a disservice to the command making vibeslop, but I gave in because it was easy, but unlike those who go for suprime sonic mania, or doom, or resident evil 3. I’m doing simple 2D puzzle games ported from PlayStation a lot, i’m not even gonna say what titles I’m working on, but one of them is 99% complete. I’m debugging it and I really am proud of it because it’s a game I love now running on Saturn with very minor visual bugs. And I think someone may enjoy it. But I honestly find I get kind of uncomfortable with large amounts of attention. Positive or negative and I just wish there was a way people could just ignore me entirely and just play this title. I’m not the talent behind it. I just wasted my money on a subscription and figured seeing people play it on YouTube would be nice. But I also know and aware that vibe coded games are digital asbestos, and no matter how much I polish a turd. It’s never going to be anything special and it will always be in the shadows of actual talent. So I’m extremely hesitant to release anything ever.

Looking for a game which I know nothing about (except that it's rare)

Hello everyone.

When I bought some years ago my SEGA Saturn, while browsing some sites, IIRC it was eBay, I came across a very expensive game whose cost was far higher than the console itself. At least 200€ (used, ofc). I didn't buy it because it was both too pricey and it was not something I was looking for.

Today, while browsing a site I came across some old Saturn games and that old memory resurfaced, despite being blurry after all this time.

IIRC, this mysterious game used some 3D elements which were like a new technology, or at least that's what I can barely recall so far.

I ruled out games like:

  • Any game whose cover includes any human character
  • Dragon Ball / Virtua Fighter or other similar games
  • Sport games (NBA, Soccer, etc.)
  • Resident Evil/Bio Hazard games
  • Command & Conquer
  • Daytona USA or racing games
  • Tomb Raider

If I were to guess its genre, I'd go for space combat/action games.

I considered that the game could be "Radiant Silvergun" but it's a JP only game, which means that it doesn't have a rectangular cover - something that my minds keep suggesting that the unknown game has...

I checked some web pages which list some famous/rare games, but nothing seems to be what I am looking for.

I know it's very little to work with, but if you have any idea, feel free to share it.

Thank you for reading!
