Discussion This year

Man after crying for the boys Dub and Caso for a few days, I think it’s a bit more appropriate to think of what could have been.

The rockets are solid but they don’t really scare me tbh. The Spurs are really tough but also vulnerable. The Nuggets don’t even seem to be worth the attention rn. The Wolves are always tough but I feel like we got them always. This would have been the year once more to get to the finals.

Man, the worst is had Caso been there and had we had the assurance we would have no other injuries, I would still be decently confident we had a chance. But now, the margins are soo slim and we’re still suffering from injuries.

Discussion Devin Booker trade haha

ESPN’s stats page currently has Devin Booker listed on the OKC roster along with the note “*Midseason Trades: Devin Booker (3 GP PHX)”

What do they know?? Haha.

Any realistic trade targets you all have heard?

Discussion Call me crazy, but I think we should trade for...Jaime Jaquez

He has winning intangibles, is solid all around, great iq, good playmaking, shoots a respectable percentage, plays defense, is on an expiring deal, and only makes $5.9M. I think we could get the Bucks to at least "listen" to an offer. Am I crazy here?

Discussion Really need Chet to step it up on the offensive end.

To preface this, Chet has been elite on the defensive end. Basically 10 rpg and 3 bpg. Good stuff from my PF.

Now while he has been making the correct play with the extra pass that has led to teammates making open shots which I am very happy about,

He has had a bad start efficiency wise to the season compared to what were used to though he's shooting 100% from the FT line so like I guess... idk just take it up a notch,

20 ppg, 10 rpg, positive A/TO ratio and 3 bpg. Give me the next leap.

Discussion Really wish we didn’t trade Dort

One thing he was reliable for health. Caso going down is gonna suck. Who’s gonna fill the dort role now.

Discussion I’ll be shocked if Presti doesn’t now use some or all of those 3 first round picks for next year to get a difference maker on a really cheap or rookie contract. It’s so early in the season plenty of time to incorporate someone.

With Cason and J dub down long term and Caruso, Chet and J will banged up plus Sorber and Topic injured that means we are already down to 7 fully healthy players and it’s 4 games into the season

If he doesn’t that tells me Topic is going to be awesome when we finally see him at 100% and he expects Stirtz to improve a lot. I really like Stirtz but he needs to get more comfortable and be more aggressive.

Good news is Cason should be back for the playoffs but might be middle of the first round. Crazy if the timelines I’m seeing are correct if we get lucky J dub could even be back by the second round

Discussion Estimated injury heal time (Jdub, Caso, Caruso)

Here are the Thunder player injuries and the most likely heal time to be eligible to play. Did some research on average heal time with different injuries. This can obviously vary a lot based on severity. I also provided some examples of players with similar injuries.

8️⃣ Jdub: Fractured fibula (lateral bone; distal leg at ankle) with ankle dislocation

- Estimated heal time: 6-8mo

- Gordon Hayward had a similar, slightly worse, injury with a tibial fracture. This bone is next to the fibula but does more weight bearing. He was estimated to heal at 6mo but returned after 1yr due to a second surgery being required to remove plates.

2️⃣2️⃣ Cason Wallace: Labrum tear of left shoulder

- Estimated heal time: 4-6mo

- just under 5 months is average

9️⃣ Alex: Caruso: Right ankle sprain

- Estimated heal time: typically under a week if mild

- most sprains are grade 1 which is mild (time could vary if grade 2 or 3)

Summary:

- Caruso should be back in the the coming week(s). Cason Wallace most likely will be back for play-offs.

- Jdub has potential to be back for play-offs, however this will vary case to case. Realistically he made need more time to heal. Hoping for a speedy recovery

Discussion How do yall feel about playing Chet at the 3 (in spots)?

On nights where we aren't playing against a dominant SF, what do you think about playing Chet at the 3, along with JWill at the 4, and I-Hart/Mara at the 5?

SGA

McCain (or Ajay)

Chet

JWill

I-Hart

I know this sounds crazy, but I think depending on the matchup, it could be pretty effective.

Off Topic Thunder Community Fantasy League

Would anyone be down to start a thunder community fantasy league, it’s happened on other sports related sub-reddits and have been very successful. I feel we have a really strong active community so it could be a really fun thing. League rules and what mode can be discussed, was looking to keep it simple so new fantasy players or people who have never played could have fun with it and also join in. Would be 8-12 teams preferably.

Discussion Topic and Sorber return

Anyone know when they're going to return? specially Topic? I was watching the games vs the Suns and for the most part I think the team could still compete on a high level but having another savvy big guard could definitely help.

Discussion Barnhizer

I may have missed something but why did we only play him 3 minutes last night? 6’6 wing and been on the team for a year yet Dix and Stirtz get significantly more minutes then him. Not that we needed him to get the win and I thought it was great Dix and Stirtz got real nba minutes but why not Barnhizer in a game like this.

Discussion OKC will eventually need to play through Mara..

That doesnt mean SGA deferring to Mara.. but instead purposefully running sets in the half court and playing at a slower pace at times.. The wing depth is done for this season.. there arent too many trades to be made.. Mara can be a main cog with repetition and presents a huge mismatch for most of the league..

Not Confirmed Charania about Caruso: “There’s going to be some level of time he is likely to be missing as well.”

I would say that he is speculating more than saying confirmed information but that's it. It is also what is expected with Caruso, in the last two seasons he had a total of 1000 minutes. They're not going to force him to the slightest discomfort he has

Discussion Is anyone else sort of excited to see what Presti does next?

• Upvotes

Obviously, this is not the start to the season we wanted... but am I alone in, despite the horrible luck so far, being super interested and pumped to see what Presti does? He's a genius and we have an abundance of picks... I would trust him with my life and I'll bet he makes a crazy move soon.

Discussion How would yall feel about Ace Bailey on the team?

Earlier today I listened to Gil’s arena’s podcast, where they discussed acquiring a player like Ace Bailey. Demarcus Cousins argued for MPJ, and while I would welcome Ace Bailey, the choice depends on the cost.

I thought I was locked in, but I was stat watching the game and saw Josh Dix check in.

I was like who tf is that. I apologies for my casualness, but what do we think of him in general and how did he look.

Discussion Topic and Lac clip swap rights for Ty Jerome, Who says no?

• Upvotes

You reckon Memphis would do this considering the pick has high value? also we would then have a clear depth of jerome, caruso, kenrich, jaylin, mara with a starting lineup of sga mccain ajay chet hartenstein. The money lines up aswell

100% Confirmed The worst part about the J Dub and Caso injuries is seeing NBA Twitter make the worst mock trades in the history of mankind for the Thunder

Post image

Seeing casual nba fan’s suggestions on how the premier organization in the league should trade for Zach Lavine or Miles Bridges or whoever the fuck makes me want to vomit in my own mouth. The public has no clue about our roster, our talent or our scheme except for “we’re good and we play hard defense”
