I (49M) recently fed my tarantula Chalupa (5F) three crickets. Noticing that they were relatively small feeders, I decided to toss a fourth cricket into her enclosure to ensure she received an adequately sized meal. In response, she kicked hairs at me! Ever since then, I’ve been feeling confused, overbearing, and a little hurt. Also, I’ve noticed that her BFF Sir Ping of Pong (3M) has been giving me the side eye. I’m now completely lost and am even questioning my ability to properly care for my beloved pet. AITA?

I got her today. She crawled onto my hand when I opened the box, I took a pic and put her in her enclosure carefully and she went to take a sip of water.
She's a 7 year old Grammostola pulchra 🖤🕷

This videos get 100s of thousands of views so I know the actual reason why. But why would anyone carry their tarantula like this into a store, it’s just risking the poor things life for views. It’s being held up so damn high, and the people in the store are scared of tarantulas (which is fine, but really dangerous for them and the T if it were to get loose in there). I don’t even personally like holding mine, but if you are going to you have to do it in a perfectly safe environment and where they can’t take a dangerous fall.
I also don’t blame the stranger for warning that they will stomp on it if it gets away from the owner. I keep tarantulas and have a bad immune system, I’m choosing that risk, but not everyone wants to choose that damn risk. This is just one reason it is disrespectful to both the tarantula and the people in the store.

This is my curly hair Feta, we believe she’s about two years old. i’ve never seen her (let alone any tarantula) do this before. She lays all of her legs out, completely flat, then she bounces her body and abdomen a few times. she molted about a month ago so i don’t think it’s post molt symptoms. i was wondering if anyone had any insight? thank you for any help ❤️

My tarantula had a bad molt, upright and jammed into a corner last night. This morning i saw her skin was stuck to her abdomen, but was still wet, so i was able to gently brush it off with a q tip without disturbing her too much. I moved her slightly from the corner she had tucked herself into cause her legs were bent in a really intense way.
Now about 12 hours since ive last checked on her, shes incapable of moving, shes moving her legs but isnt moving. I checked her underside and theres a large white wound, not wet but a wound.
What can i do? Is there any way i can help her?? Is she going to survive?

My worst fear came true the other day— my cat was somehow able to slide the magnetic lid off one of my T’s enclosures. Thankfully she was ok, but I found the poor thing stressed and bald in my dog’s toy bin. I have since tried using twist ties through the air holes to keep the lids from being able to slide, which he has chewed off, and used rows of packing tape around the shelving to block him without restricting too much airflow (he gets around this easily).
He is one of those cats that fears nothing. Loves water, spraying doesn’t work. Loves foil. Unbothered by sticky sheets. I don’t have a room that I can put them in where he can’t get to them just as easily, but am at a loss as to how to keep him out without restricting airflow to the enclosures.
I plan to try some kind of child proofing locks, but I am hoping someone here has some other genius cat proofing hacks or enclosures. I’m worried that for their safety, I have to rehome them

Hey everyone, we rescued a bird eater about a month ago, I'm not 100% sure of age but when we got her she had a bold patch on her butt, but it seems like the issue has escalated. I'm completely new to owning tarantulas and its not my forte but my partner is completely obsessed with them. Is this something we need to worry about?
I've done some research and figured it may be her uricating hairs but is it supposed to be this bad? I normally keep her enclosure covered so she can feel safe but we do also have cats that will occasionally just sit by the enclosure and look at her. We haven't been able to take her out yet as she still goes into defense stance.
All advice would be appreciated.
TIA.

I accidentally kicked the stool next to her shelf and spooked her. Poor thing looked like she ran into an invisible wall.

Was visiting the Rio Grande Gorge in northern New Mexico and spotted this beauty wandering across the gravel on October 25. My first wild tarantula encounter! Suspecting Aphonopelma marxi, possibly a mature male out looking for a mate. Such a cool animal to see in its natural habitat.

My fiance and I have gotten 2 Ts in the past year, a G. Pulchra and an A. Chalcodes. We didn't realize how much A. Chalcodes burrowed until we had gotten Tethys. She has been a treat to watch, but we thought it was funny that she comes up from her cave completely filthy from moving all of the dirt.
