Hi everyone,
I’m a Communication Design student at NID Assam, currently working on a research project around food culture, familiarity, and representation in India.
I’m trying to understand how people discover different cuisines, what shapes their food preferences, what foods they consider unfamiliar or avoid, and how factors like family, culture, region, dietary choices, ordering habits, and cooking influence what we eat.
A part of the project also looks at how familiar people are with Northeastern Indian food and food cultures, and whether lack of exposure affects the way these cuisines are perceived.
I’ve made a short survey and would really appreciate responses from people across different regions, age groups, and dietary preferences.

It should only take a few minutes. There are no right or wrong answers — genuine responses are much more useful to the research.
If you have any thoughts about Northeastern cuisine, foods you’ve wanted to try, misconceptions you’ve encountered, or your own experiences with food and cultural identity, feel free to discuss them in the comments too.
Thank you!
