Video Singapore stands in solidarity with Indonesia in tackling haze: Vivian Balakrishnan
Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan stated that Singapore stands in solidarity with Indonesia to combat transboundary haze, noting it is man made rather than natural. He praised President Prabowo's commitment and firefighters' efforts, assuring that Singapore will use all regulatory and legal powers against responsible companies.
This is the first time I've heard Vivian Balakrishnan speak Indonesian, how proficient is he?

Opinion/Fluff Post Mapped: Countries Spending the Most on Food
One may say high income countries spend less on food but given that we import 90%+ is not an easy feat. We did a highly engineered, multi-layered food security architecture, managing the global supply shocks, geopolitical tensions and continuous search for import lines. Now we import > 180 countries. Just imagine that.
Even compared to hongkong, and china right next to it, they spend more than us (6.3 vs 8.5) or UAE (10.8).

Opinion/Fluff Post Does the Solar Panel work in this situation?
Walking along Jalan Bukit Ho Swee and saw this setup by PUB. I noticed that the Solar panel was installed under the sheltered walkway. The vegetation growth behind the installation does not allow sunlight to penetrate onto the solar panel as well.
I'm curious does the solar panel work in such situation?

Discussion SKLRT West Loop overcrowding after dual loop operation reinstated
Really wish SBST did something to address this. I’m sure they have also received complaints from many other Sengkang residents regarding the overcrowding.
From April to October 2026, SKLRT ran on a single loop operation in order to facilitate their viaduct connection works for the new LRT depot. There were many concerns over the potential overcrowding because SKLRT is the (most?) dense LRT loops, which is clearly seen by the snaking queues at Sengkang. To combat this, and I commend them for this, they implemented 1 min frequencies with 2-car operation on the single loop, and in the peak hours, introduced shuttle buses SWA for the morning peak and SWB for the evening peak to supplement the LRT.
This was quite successful and I was adequately satisfied with the crowd control measures, and could enjoy a seat on the double decker buses during peak hours.
The real woes came after October. Ever since then, even at peak hours, it was more common to see only 1 car operation during peak hours, and the frequencies have been atrocious at all hours. I might even go on to say that the crowding situation at some LRT stations have are worse than with the single loop operation. I’ve actually timed 5 min frequencies during yesterday morning’s peak hour, and there was only a single car. People at the final 2 stations before Sengkang had 0 chance of boarding.
What the hell sbst? Frequencies and 2-car appearances have been worse than even before all of this happened, and I honestly would rather the longer LRT ride and good frequencies during single-loop operations than any of this going on right now. I cannot even believe more than 3 min frequencies during peak hours is a thing given that the west loop has a 200k population.
