Looking For The Cage Futsal for Singapore Seniors

Hi all, I am in my 40s and would like join leisure soccer matches to get some cardio into my life. Youths and younger adults can be quite rough at times so I prefer playing with people who are slightly older who enjoys the game.

I did some research but was unable to find what I am looking for so would appreciate some directions/advice/suggestions on where I should look? Location wise, I would prefer The Cage at Dempsey since it's quite central to where I stay but open to other options as long as not too far from central/south Singapore.

Thanks in advance!

General Should I just get a new PC from Aftershock or fix my current one?

I'm looking for some advice from people who actually know their PCs because I'm completely clueless when it comes to this.

For some context, I have a custom-built PC that a friend helped me build back in 2022. Initially built it cos I wanted to get into PC gaming but lo and behold, I pretty much only play MLBB now LOL.

A few months back, my monitor kept randomly losing signal even though my PC was still running. Brought it for repairs about 4 months ago and apparently all it needed was some cleaning? It was fine after that buttt now the same issue is back again 🥲

I've recently started a new job and wouldn't mind spending a little to upgrade my entire setup. That said, I don't need anything super powerful since I'm really just a casual gamer and mainly use it for entertainment/work.

Currently using an RTX 3060, which from what I've heard is still pretty decent for casual gaming? Also heard that GPU prices are quite crazy now so idk if it even makes sense to replace my whole PC.

Sooo just wanted to ask:

  1. Is it worth getting a prebuilt PC from Aftershock? Are they reliable or are there better options out there?
  2. Should I just get my current PC fixed again? A bit sian cos I literally just got it repaired 4 months ago and I'm worried the same issue will keep coming back.
  3. Any other PC shops/builders in SG you'd recommend for someone who knows absolutely nothing about PCs?

Not looking for anything super fancy, just want a decent PC that can last me a few more years without having to worry about random issues 😭

Would appreciate any advice!

edit:
here are my specs as requested:

5600X
Asrock B550 Steel Legend
Gigabyte Vision OC RTX3060
ID Cooling Pinkflow 240 AIO
16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3200Mhz
Lexar NM620 512GB SSD
Coolermaster 650W MWE Gold PSU

edit2: it's not a monitor issue cos my monitor stays on when i'm in recovery mood... but the moment i boot up windows it loses signal :/

General Old CDs - possible to recycle somewhere?

Hi all,

I want to dispose of some CDs that cannot be played any longer and I tried all sorts of methods, thinking that maybe someone can use them to scare birds or to do some arts&crafts. Olio, Carousell, FB - none is interested so I just want to make sure: is the best option now just to dispose them in the normal waste?

Let me know your thoughts 😁

Career, Job, Edu Qn in SG To whose who have graduated from private degree in Kaplan like Murdoch, how’s your career like now?

its been 5 years since someone posted about career in kaplan, and the economy is much worse, i am specifically studying in accounting and finance currently.

since i have literally zero prior experience , it's definitely going to be hard to find a job. So i am gonna ask about internships, is it manageable to get into an audit internship as a private grad?

have u managed to ventured from audit to fp&a analyst (or other roles) afterwards?

how much do u think the degree has helped you? is there anything that u have to learnt outside your own apart from the degree when u started on your intern/job?

Looking For Looking for Dress Alteration service

Hi everyone!

I um.. bought a expensive dress from an iconic scene in a movie.

It's my wife's childhood favourite movie and she once tipsily mentioned that all dresses she buys has been to chase the look and feel and this dress for the longest time. Anyway, it's impossible to get this dress and it appears like once every 6 months on the market and almost always get snatched up for an absurd price. I was down the Depop / Poshmark / Etsy rabbit hole for years, my ISO listings had over 2000+ likes and saves from others, offers and failure after failure to secure the thing, American PO boxes, routing blah. I've chased this thing for 4 years. My last window had me trying to surprise her for the wedding but the seller went MIA at the last second.

And here we are. Today is not the day I am left with only the mental anguish of this silent war I've been fighting BUT THE DAY WE MOVE to the NEXT STEP and our 1 year anniversary + her birthday is coming up.

Long story short, it's 3-4 sizes too big (Yes I record her 3 sizes, ring and shoes) and I need to alter this dress. No rush I still have over 2 months. I'm seeking help fellow Singaporeans, I need a recommendation for a tailor, I'm thinking wedding dress tailors or someone who can do sizing down of clothes that are slightly complex? Price wise the sky's the limit, I just need someone who can alter this thing confidently.

Thanks for reading my long story that I've not been able to tell anyone.

TLDR: I bought my wife a rare dress that requires sizing down, please recommend anyone who is skilled in alterations. TIA

Edit: Thank you so so much for your helpful responses, I will be checking in with some of these this week. As mentioned by many I may have to bring my partner in. I'm going to put that as the last resort so for now I'll just "borrow" a already altered piece of clothing I know she has and have the tailor work on the dress based on those measurements. If really cannot then I will have to ask her but I prefer to keep it a surprise for now.
Again, thank you everyone, the comments have been super super helpful.

Career, Job, Edu Qn in SG Fresh Graduates with Severe Anxiety: How Are You Coping with the Job Search?

Fresh grad here trying to find a more manageable job like KYC but most of these jobs are either offshored or replaced by AI.

Now you really have to upskill and learn things fast and constantly...otherwise you will fall even further behind.

My resume isn't impressive either because i spent the bulk of my time dealing with my anxiety issues.

And even if i am fortunate enough to get invited for an interview outside of my preferred job scope, the imposter syndrome (Or just anxiety) is there.

Just wondering if there's anyone like this.

P.S: Btw I did post this in r/singaporejobs as well to gain more opinions. No intention of karma farming or what, I swear upon my life I don't care about the karma, sorry if you see the same post twice. I am just desperate

General Does your parent treat outsiders much better than how they treat their own children?

Just wondering whether it is the "norm" in Singapore.

My dad treats his siblings (my uncles and aunties) and outsiders much better than his own family. He will always be forgiving towards his siblings even if they borrow money from him and never returned the money, saying that siblings should take care of each other. And he will always be very charitable to outsiders whenever they make mistakes so as not to offend them.

But when it comes to his own wife and kids, he will scream, shout, scold and insult us whenever we do not meet his unreasonable expectations. And he will always demand my mom to do this and that even when she is sick. Worst part is that he often threw his temper at us even though we are the ones helping him at his lowest while his siblings didn't bother to check in on him.

General Where to hide from HDB power outage?

HDB's Improvement Program (HIP) is going to upgrade my block's electricity and will cut off the power of my entire block tomorrow from 9am to 6pm at Pasir Ris.

Me and my wife being two retirees at home and not very much into exploring nature, where can we go to "hide" for the whole day tomorrow, especially the early morning part around 9am when most shopping malls are not open yet?

BTW, we don't own a car (though we can rent one if there's somewhere to go that's worth the trouble/cost).

General Storing books/manga in this environment

As the title says, i'm currently in the process of getting a shelf for my books and manga, previously i used to keep my books in a dark corner in my room, my room doesn't have aircon and i'm wondering what steps to take to maintain them. I've heard about risks of silverfish infestation and molding with this humidity, any ways to prevent it?

Tourist/non-local Question Singtel Esim Roaming Plan in Japan

Hi! I'm planning to go to Singapore and Japan, and want to get the Singtel Tourist esim. However I'm a bit confused by the APAC roaming and worldwide roaming.

Does anyone know if I use up my APAC roaming for Japan, will it switch to the remaining Worldwide roaming data since the 60+ countries also include Japan?

Looking For Good Roast Pig Supplier for ceremonies

Looking for recommendations for a good larger sized roast pig for ceremonies (e.g. GDL, wedding, prayers)

Main priorities are that the meat is tasty and, most importantly, the skin stays crispy and doesn't turn hard or chewy after cooling. I know the pig probably won't be served immediately, so hoping to find one that still holds up well after some time.

I actually tried one place for testing, but was quite disappointed with the results, so I'm hoping to get some recommendations before committing to an order.

Some options I've come across but haven't tried are:

- Lee Bin Hong

- Xiang Ji Roasted Meat

- Original Tiong Bahru

Has anyone ordered a roast pig from these places before? Would love to hear your honest feedback on the taste, skin texture after cooling, and overall experience!

Also open to other recommendations! It's getting quite costly to keep ordering pigs just to try them out, so hoping to narrow down the options before making a decision haha.

Thanks in advance! 🙏🏻

General People with 3 kids, how do you manage?

I recently met a lot of people with 3 or more kids, and the first thing that came to my head was it must be very expensive. To people with 3 or more kids, how do you manage, especially the financial aspect?

I have only one kid and I feel like if I have another baby, I will not be able to retire early. Traveling with one kid is already expensive, have to stay in resorts with activities or book hotel with family room. In terms of lifestyle, I also love doing activities like diving so either have to wait until kid is older or bring our helper with us. I am curious how people manage and how having more kid impacts on life decisions such as major lifestyle change, delay retirement, etc.

Tourist/non-local Question Indian traveller arriving in Singapore at 3 AM on the first day of visa validity — any issues?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm an Indian passport holder travelling to Singapore for a work assignment.

My flight is scheduled to depart India at 8 PM on 27 November 2026 and arrive in Singapore at 3 AM on 28 November. My Singapore visa would be valid from 28 November.

Would Singapore immigration have any issue with this itinerary, given that I depart India the previous evening but arrive in Singapore on the first day of my visa validity?

Has anyone encountered this situation personally, or does anyone have reliable information about how Singapore handles it?

I'm mainly concerned about whether the arrival date is what matters for immigration entry.

Thanks for your help!

Tourist/non-local Question Going for Joji’s Concert in Expo Arena

First time attending a concert in Singapore, I bought standing tickets. Can I ask what is the concert etiquette like in Singapore?

For example, is it recommended that I go to queue early since I’m in standing. I’ve heard some concerts in Singapore do a timed entry thing depending on ticket number for standing zones. Additionally how’s queueing like at that area, will i be expected to queue outdoors? Will I be allowed to bring a water bottle in?

General Is it me or has gymming etiquette become worse?

Gonna sound like a boomer here, but it seems to me like gym etiquette in Singapore gyms in general has taken a dip for the worse. For context, I've been a casual gymmer since I was in university 20 years ago so I have seen the progression of gymmers from gen Xs/millenials to gen Xs/millenials and now, Gen Zs. Have gymmed in school gyms, AF, Safra, FF (basically the whole gamut).

I generally like to finish my gym session in 1 - 1.5 hours so it's really just focused sets with 1 - 2 min breaks in the middle. However, the young kids nowadays take so damn long to do a set (and multiples of them want to share) that I end up waiting 5 - 8 min for my next set.

Just yesterday, someone asked to share (not generalizing but it was a young kid), and I said Ok. The dude took 2 min to add additional plates, then rests awhile before actually doing the exercise, proceeds to do single arms (so double the time), rests between the arms, and then just gets off without unloading to my original weights. All in all, it was about 5 min. I was baffled.

That's just one of the more egregious examples but there are many more examples e.g. wearing uncovered footwear to the gym, 1 person asking to share and then suddenly its the whole gang, doing 1 arm exercises when 2 arms is equally efficient etc.
