Hold or give birth already?

Hi mommies!! Need your thoughts.

I have Cervical Insufficiency, was admitted when I was 29 weeks cause I have open cervix at 4cm. I was already given a medicine for lung maturity that time and got discharged after 5 days.

Was on bedrest after, also isox and progesterone.

Now Im 33 weeks and got admitted again cause yestersay I saw blood when I wiped my pee. Turned out I progressed to 7cm open. Here now at the hospital but I have little to less contractions. My OB said she will no longer hold. Been here 24 hours now in the labor and delivery room. A part of me wants this to be over but the biggest concern is whats the best for the baby. Though I was given another round of medicine for lung maturity now and some antibiotics to avoid bacteria when he come out. They’re not letting me eat anymore too, just had a light snack this morning.

Should I tell my baby to come out now? Or wait for another week/s. I know I cant control that but I have been telling this baby that I will say its time lol and I think that’s why he’s holding on. Our goal before with my doc is 35 weeks. Last time I was here our bill was 65k and that was for 5 days stay. I don’t think they will let me go home this time anymore 🥺 and honestly Im so tired, they won’t let me be in my room as well just here in L&D which is so draining for me. Any moms here who gave birth around 33weeks, how many days was your baby in NICU? He’s current weight per ultrasound is 1.960grams.

DTS tomorrow!

• Upvotes

Guys, I can’t believe I’m here. Tomorrow I’ll be 37w1d and it’s DTS day! I got my cerclage as an emergency back in July when my anatomy scan showed 0.9cm cervix with funneling and 1cm dilation. Not going to lie, the first couple months were rough, but now I feel pretty good. I wanted to thank everyone here for their support and stories that helped me when I was really struggling with anxiety. Now the anxiety about when he will come starts! We are hoping for labor to start naturally but if it hasn’t by 39 weeks, I’ll have to be induced. Anyone have a similar story? How long until labor after DTS?!

Chronic cervicitis and IC

• Upvotes

Greetings,
this May I’ve lost my son at 21 weeks gestation, and now I’m preparing for my future pregnancy.
However, all my life long I’ve had high amount of leukocytes in my cervix, and it never changed.
At the same time I have an ectopia on my cervix.

For example, now I have perfectly clean Femoflor-16 and Bacteriological culture from the cervix. However, level of leukocytes is extremely high.
It gives me anxiety that I won’t be able to get a pessary or cerclage in my next pregnancy.

Has anyone been in the same situation?

Shower in strict bedrest.

Hi everyone,

I'm 22 weeks and 3 days pregnant on strict bedrest with a cerclage. I have some cervical opening/funneling. My water balloon amniotic sac WAS previously down. Luckily, it is NOT down right now, but I am terrified of doing anything that might make it come down again.

My doctor cleared me for quick warm showers to avoid infection, but my anxiety is very high. I have very long, thick, heavy hair, and I am scared that sitting or standing to wash it for half an hour will put dangerous downward pressure on my stitch.

How did you manage washing heavy hair while keeping pressure completely off your cervix? Did you use a shower chair, or did you wash it while lying flat in bed with help? Looking for any quick tips or shortcuts to stay clean without the panic.

Thank you!

If you’ve had a rescue cerclage then a preventative cerclage….

When did you go into labor each time?

I had a rescue cerclage with my first at 25&1 (9mm cervix with funneling, 1cm dilated). It was removed at 36&3 and I went into spontaneous labor at 37&6, he was born 38&0.

I’m currently 36 weeks with my second, got a preventative cerclage at 13 weeks. Getting the cerclage removed next week at 37&1 - I wanted to wait as long as they would let me.

Just curious if people had a similar timeline of going into labor each time, especially with the preventive vs rescue.

Can anyone who had short cervix and also pcos tell me if they had success with progesterone alone? They found my short cervix at my anatomy scan at 19weeks 3 days and i started 200mg daily progesterone the following day. It’s been one week. This is not an ivf pregnancy and it’s my first baby. I’ve never had LEEP or LLETZ and have no idea why this happened to me. I’ve seen that there’s a small link between short cervix and pcos so I was wondering if any of you who had short cervix and pcos ended up needing a cerclage or if progesterone was enough? I’m worried sick. I already had health anxiety and this sub unfortunately makes me feel hopeless

Currently admitted in hospital after 22 week scan. In shock

Second pregnancy (first was a MMC). Everything has been normal so far then today went for my second anatomy scan and my cervix was measuring under 1 cm but no opening/membranes.

We were told to go to hospital and get monitored for next morning procedure. I just got back from a trip abroad, my husband is still abroad luckily my mom was with me.

I heard of this issue before but did not understand the procedure and it all happened so fast. I cried a lot after finding out and while being admitted bc it was all so overwhelming but looking forward to protecting baby and hoping for a smooth procedure and recovery

Emergency cerclage at 21 + 4, still funneling — positive stories?

Last Friday at 21 + 4, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with cervical insufficiency. My cervix was 2 cm dilated with bulging membranes and funneling and I had an emergency rescue cerclage placed that same day.

Thankfully, surgery went well, my membranes were successfully pushed back in, and baby is doing great!

Two days later, my transvaginal ultrasound showed 3 cm total cervical length, with 1.9 cm closed and some remaining funneling. Thankfully, the funneling does not reach the stitch as of now.

I'm now on modified bed rest, and my doctor doesn't plan to check me again for two weeks, saying there's no real benefit to checking sooner.

Has anyone had funneling remain after their cerclage and gone on to have a successful pregnancy? Did your funneling stay the same or improve? How far did you make it?

Help

Anyone know of a woman that had a cervical cerclage? My doctor wants me to have one and one of the 10 plus doctors at UAB I seen is pushing for it. They risk are bad in my opinion and could kill JR. I am 22 weeks today. 24 weeks is supposed to be a better stage for JR. I am on the fence because God has made sure my cervical length has improved from 1.46 to 2.1 and I feel like God can handle it without the risk from the surgery.

I am 1 cm dilated and that is the main reason they want me to have the procedure which would mean I cannot work or lift my kid for a week or so.

Risks and Complications

• Infection: A small risk of uterine or cervical infection.

• Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM): The amniotic sac may rupture early.

• Bleeding or Spotting: Mild vaginal bleeding or cramping is common right after surgery, though heavy bleeding is a complication.

• Cervical Damage or Tearing: Potential tissue tearing if labor progresses while the stitches are still in place.

If you could say one thing to a mom who is terrified of trying again after a second-trimester loss, what would it be?

I lost my baby at 21 weeks, and although I want to become a mom again so badly, the fear of going through the same heartbreak is overwhelming sometimes. A part of me is so hopeful, while another part is terrified.
I would love to hear your words of encouragement, advice, or personal experiences. If you have been through this and found the courage to try again, or are currently navigating another pregnancy after loss, please share your story.
Sometimes, hearing from someone who truly understands can make us feel a little less alone✨.
