1240 on practice test

Hey guys, I took my first full length practice test I think also called a diagnostic and I scored a 1240. This was with no studying before, took the psat once but ive never really cared about it before now. Breakdown was 650 on reading 590 on math. What would you guys reccomend I do? And also with that, where do I find resources to study for specific things.

1400 -> 1500 advice?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I scored a 1420 on the SAT but needed a 1500. Probably isn’t the first nor the last person who will ask this question but currently feeling quite lost on how to get the score up. I don’t feel like I deserve this score since i feel like the test is quite easy after comparing to other friends who also took the test and the practice test. I am quite anxious since November probably will be my last shot.

I have the November SAT and have tried to study but just feel quite lost on how to perfect those last few points. Any advices are very very welcome(desperate). November is just a reach away but I am WILLING to try any of the suggestions.

Right now I am doing the collage panda sat math book but I feel like it just doesn’t match the sat test and I am waisting my time.

can someone falsly report you of cheating and get your score cancelled?

i got a really good sat score after taking it 5 times and someone in my social circle got envy and started spreading rumors that i cheated (i didnt).

now im worried they might report me to college board and get my score cancelled. ive seen ppl on reddit saying their scores got cancelled even tho they didnt cheat so its stressing me out.

they dont even know when or where i took the test cause i never shared that. can someone actually get my score cancelled just by reporting me? This is my last SAT before early action so i am not trying to risk anything.

The SAT doesn't test knowledge, only learning the test

Once you're around 1300, you stop going from getting smarter to just breaking the system.

I studied for the SAT during COVID and ended up getting a 1500 after 6 years. But most of the time was actually just devoted to learning how the test worked and memorizing its question types, rather than actually learning. Take, for example, vocabulary, which isn't particularly helpful to me as an engineer.

Everything from learning that em dashes and commas mean the same case (in which circumstance none of the answers are right) to Desmos tricks that can only help on math sections, the SAT has stopped serving its purpose for high-achieving students.

This is especially prominent since T20 schools often reject students for 30-40 differences, often attributed to who learned the test better.

What do you think?

Do i cancel my SAT for a football game?

They decided the Holy War (BYU vs Utah) should be at 10 AM, which is like a crime in itself. I already have a 35 ACT and a 1490 SAT, so should I cancel my Nov SAT to watch the Holy War since I live in SLC where its happening and I gotta rep the U

I’ve been trying to find a way to get good practice questions, and i know everyone says to use the official question bank but it just doesnt feel the same as the actual test like im just looking at a pdf?? Idk if im the only one with this problem

ive seen some people talk about cooksat and i just want to ask if anyone knows if their free version is good? are their questions accurate?

ive also seen khan academy as well, but some people say it’s not actually as hard as the real test

lmk if you guys have any recommendations for question banks. i feel like there’s no good free options

SAT Studying Extension

I created an SAT studying Chrome extension. All you need to do is go to this link (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/sat-question-bank-tracker/eeinjoeegjkhiddemncmbbgianhliopi) and download the extension. And then, go to this link (https://satsuiteeducatorquestionbank.collegeboard.org/) for a ton of free study problems. This got me from a 1370 to a 1560. Hope this helps!

How are around half of the questions excluded? There are only 8 practice tests..

As far as I'm aware, each practice test contains a Module 1 + A relatively easy Module 2 or the harder one.

So, each practice test contains:
27 questions * 3 modules = 81 questions for RW
22 questions * 3 modules = 66 questions for math

81 questions * 8 practice tests= 648 RW active questions
66 questions * 8 practice tests= 528 Math active questions

1845 total RW questions - 648 active questions = 1197 nonactive questions
1925 total Math questions - 528 active questions = 1397 nonactive questions

Where are the rest??

Which month might be considered as final to take SAT?

I'm tending to study in Europe(germany, particularly) as an international student. I wonder if there is some kind of a date for the universities' applications to end. So I can take the previous SAT exam as my last. I don't want to miss the early application deadlines cuz I desperately need a good amount of scholarship.

Should I submit a 1240?

UVA is my dream school and I got a 1240 on the sat…their 50% range is 1410-1540

I have good extracurriculars and a 4.19 weighted gpa. I’m doing ED and in-state

Everywhere I look it says go test optional but i’m still on the fence about it. My friend last year got a similar score and got it but please let me know cause apps are due soon.

What’s the best order to take college board’s practice test?

I’m planning to take all the practice tests but I’m not sure about the difficulty level of each one and don’t want to end up leaving the hardest ones till last. If anyone has completed all of them what do you think is the best order to take them? And are there any which can be left out?

Practice Tests' Module 2 Difficulty

For practice tests 4-11 on bluebook, is module 2 for math and RW a mix of difficulties or the harder or easier module in comparison to real tests?

Sat practice

Giving the SAT hopefully on the 7th, the blue book tests seem a tad bit too easy, any other sites that can help for more accuracy in terms of the actual test difficulty?

Hot take: they should increase cap of SAT a lot, especially for math

Right now, almost all competive students for top schools are getting near perfect scores. A single mistake or too can drop ur sat a lot, so schools can’t really distinguish. However this is a huge gap among those people. If they increase the celing, it’s easier to highlight proffenicy, and in a better way for schools to see.

how to get my SAT score up to 1520+ until the November SAT

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been getting the same score more or less for 3 weeks now and it is starting to get really annoying. 1550+ people I don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore I feel like I already did everything. I basically do every grammar question and I only have a few careless mistakes in math sometimes(not always) but as a international student it is really hard to understand the clues on tricky reading questions and module 2 vocab. What am I supposed to do? there is only 13 days or smth left I'm kinda stressed

PSAT score

Thoughts on my 980 PSAT score as a junior?
I recently got my PSAT score back and scored a 980 (450 Reading & Writing, 530 Math). I wanted to see what people on this sub think of my score, especially since I’ve noticed there are lots of perfectionists here 😭
I’m not necessarily looking for validation, just some honest opinions on where I stand and what I should focus on improving before taking the actual SAT.

Plateaued at 1450 range

I have been studying for the SAT for a while , long enough to be fully done with the practice tests and almost all the English rw questions bank. In all my latest practice tests I broke the 1500 barrier and have been doing that for a while. However, when I’m taking the real exam I cannot achieve a score above 1500 let alone 700 RW. I have been at this weird stage for a while now and I have plateaued at around 1450 with 660-680RW and 790-770 maths I really don’t know what else I could do and I’m in desperate need for advice
