Mound Key as You Have Never Seen

Mound Key circa 1569. The Spanish established Fort San Anton de Carlos in 1566. This visualization represents the period directly before it was abandoned. Island Elevations based on LiDAR and building locations based on Archaeological finds. Of note: The first Jesuit Mission in North America was located here on the Calusa's man made island on Mound 2 directly across from Mound 1 where Calusa's palace stood.

Meetup Wife and I looking to make new Latina friends in SWFL

I’m 31M and she’s 32F and we’re located in SWFL. We’re looking for a girl who’s open minded and enjoys activities that would like to do life with us. We’re planning on going to Puerto Rico in February and would love to bring a friend along albeit we get to know each other first before hand. We’re both Latin so we’re preferably looking for a Latina since we also plan on going to the Karol G concert while we’re in Puerto Rico.

Dropped from mental health — EliteDNA

Hi, I just wanted to see if anybody knew why I can no longer see my provider from EliteDna. I guess my insurance is no longer covering my services or my partners service. We have different insurances. It’s crazy, they worked with my Medicaid plan.

Wedding recs

Looking to have a wedding (ceremony only) with about 100-120 people in the Marco/Naples area Oct of 2027. I don’t want to get married on the beach but any other indoor or outdoor areas would be lovely. So far I’ve contacted the Naples botanical gardens. Any other recommendations?

Welcome back for the season. What's the first place you hit when you get back to SWFL?

The traffic on 41 and the full Publix parking lots say it's that time of year again. Every year I do the same thing on day one: drop the bags, grab something to eat, and get to the water before the sun goes down. What's the first place you go when you get back, and what's the one spot you avoid until May?

Advice Wisdom tooth removal or something

Background: I just moved here a week ago, I just started a job and I have no insurance.

First i got strep, taking antibiotics for it right now, then got a few canker sores and now the wisdom tooth that has been dormant all these fucking years has decided to flare up.

Its angry, i can barely open my mouth and even swallowing hurts its side.

The move consumed my savings and i only got like 1k in credit limit so of course I'm worried about how am i paying all this and how it will affect my job.

Idk if its allowed but can you recommend a dentist/surgeon/place where i can get this looked at? Fort Myers area or close.

Quick Survey Opportunity! (Help a local student out)

Hello Naples residents! I am a junior in high school here in Collier County, and I am performing a quantitative correlational research study on the role of Canadian tourism and it's growth in Southwest Florida.

However, in order to complete this project, I have an extremely simple survey that every resident of SWFL is eligible to fill out! It is 100% confidential and will be used to expand the literature in this category, and would help out a local student very much! Thank you all in advance!

I'm making a huge fantasy themed map of Florida and would love to get some some local landmarks included in the south west and elsewhere. Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm making a map of Florida in a classic fantasy style (sorta Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones). It's going to be filled with real world history and mythology, with the aim of highlighting local landmarks and history in a fun and educational way. Please ignore how rough parts of it look (text going through hills, rivers, etc), it'll all get cleaned up at the end. Forests will be going on towards the end of the process too.

While it's around halfway done, I'd love to get more places and features in here before I get this made into print. Any more burial mounds, ruins, forts, battlefields, Civil War heritage, Native history or the like that you think should be on here? Anything else is great too - landmarks, natural features, mythological creatures or just anything cool and quirky you think would look good on the map. Thanks!

Have a hive setting up home under the gutter near my front door. Any recommendations? Would prefer to have them collected, but they need to be removed before they can cause bigger problems.

We need a nice gym

Does anyone else think that Estero needs a nice gym with childcare? I feel like the gulf coast LA fitness continues to go downhill and I was especially annoyed when they completely discontinued their childcare. I would love a big, nice gym in the coconut point area. Do you agree?

Free Magic for Good Causes

Calling all Southwest Florida nonprofits!

I'm a local close-up magician getting into walk around and table hopping performances, and I'd love to donate an hour of magic to a charity event.

Galas, fundraisers, auctions, volunteer appreciation nights, community events: if your guests are mingling, I can roam the room and perform up close magic right in their hands. It's a fun icebreaker and gives people something to talk about.

No cost to your organization. I'm building experience, and you get free entertainment for a good cause.

If you're planning something in the Fort Myers area, email me at ctcmagician@gmail.com.

Modern Lux Pools Sucks

Before doing business with these scam artists, Joe Valdez and Rigo, please type either company name or Joe Valdez! Two scammers!
Valdez is the biggest piece of shit layer on the face of the earth- he needs to be deported back to whatever third world country he came from! My pool took a year and still have pool deck tiles sinking and no help in site! Have your lawyer rewrite their contract before signing or run for the hills!
They WILL NOT honor any of their commitments or warranties!
Look up Sunshine Pools- he was the owner …

Advice Boat owners needing weekend help

Hey all, my wife and I have moved back to Florida after years away. The biggest thing we'd love to do is to learn how to sail. We've seen YouTube videos so we aren't coming in from zero, but I'm also well aware that textbook knowledge and doing the thing are two entirely separate things. So what we're looking for is someone that has a boat, and needs some extra help on the weekends. The best thing is you don't even need to pay us. Teaching us the ropes, pun intended, is enough for us. In exchange we can provide witty banter, friendship, and a pack of your favorite beer. Any takers?

My younger brother turns 25 this week and I want to take him out to a place with a crowd his age where we can talk to girls his age. He has no game. I just want to take him out and spark up some conversations with women around his age. Any recommendations between Port Charlotte and Fort Myers? Thanks

Advice Quick survey on power outages & patio/lanai living in SWFL (Mod approved — $50 follow-on interview potential)

Hi everyone,

With hurricane season and storm recovery always on our minds down here, I’m running a brief research survey focusing on how we live outdoors (lanais, patios, yards) and how power outages impact households across Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties.

The survey takes about 5 to 6 minutes:

👉Take the Survey Here

What it covers:

  • How you use your patio, pool, or lanai space year-round
  • Experiences with storm outages, backup power, and recovery hurdles
  • Feedback on an early-stage concept for modular solar power integrated into outdoor living

Follow-up Interviews:

At the end of the survey, you can optionally opt in for a 45-minute follow-up interview. We will be selecting several participants to chat further, and selected interviewees will receive a $50 gift card for their time.

I cleared this post with the mods beforehand. I promise no sales pitches or spam, and your responses are completely confidential.

Thanks for helping out!
