Event Voice the Constitution November 7 at 11 am

• Upvotes

Hi all - we are having a Voice the Constitution event on November 7 at 11 am at the Mendon Public Library, 22 N Main St, Honeoye.

As always, everyone who comes can participate or just listen, depending upon your preference. We read the U.S. Constitution outloud to one another. It takes about an hour to read it straight through, but we pause for questions, definitions and interesting facts.

Hope to see you there! Call or go on the library website to let them know you will be there.

Help Single dad

I never thought I’d be posting on an forum for help.

I’m a single parent of two. We have fallen on hard times. Bills are paid thankfully. But we are scraping by when it comes to food. I went to two food pantries two weeks ago and that didn’t last us very long.

I’m looking to see if anyone has any additional resources or even any food that they don’t plan on eating if they could drop off to us a Walmart order anything we are struggling bad right now and I know I’m not the only person on earth struggling but I figured I’d reach out here for some help.

Thank you.

Recommendation Groups

• Upvotes

Hey, I'm looking to make some friends and I can't seem to find a club or group that I like. I tried Meet Up too... I like visual arts, spooky stuff, bugs, philosophy, coffee/tea, activism, fun facts, board games/cards. The problem is that most of this is in large groups and I get nervous. Any tips or ideas? Clubs that I might like? TIA

Help Rochester seamstress for custom job

I am looking for someone in Rochester who can sew a regular shower curtain into a custom shower curtain for me. My shower has two angled slopes and I essentially need someone with sewing skills greater than mine to cut off the corners of a curtain I bought and sew them on angles evenly. I have a prototype I made myself, but it’s not pretty. Is there a shop or a seamstress in Rochester who could do this? It’s probably a 30 min job for someone skilled.

Recommendation Dentist recommendations

• Upvotes

Hello everyone.

Just like the title says, I am posting this post to ask if anyone has any recommendations for any dental practices that accept Delta Dental insurance. I was previously being seen at a practice that accepted me in network with my previous insurance through Excellus, but with the new plan, I am out of network though still accepted. I realize they do have a website that tells me what clinics/providers accept them, but I would appreciate if anyone has had any experience with clinics that they are willing to share just so I don’t go based blindly on reviews.

I am honestly looking for caring providers who don’t rush the job and don’t work too rough. I have had bad experiences in the past back home which made me put off going to the dentist for regular check ups and routine work for a decent while. My partner also has not been in a while and would probably need some repair work done to fix old crowns along with other dental work, but is less willing to go because of bad experience as well, so I want him to feel comfortable to go and get seen.

I don’t really care for the distance, we both have cars. Maybe some extended hours just as he works Monday through Friday 8-5.

TLDR: looking for a new dental provider, accepting new clients that are in network with Delta Dental. Plus if they got extended hours. Bad experiences in the past, looking for recs.

Thank you all, have a nice one!

I need to remember the unfathomable scale of the universe. I haven’t had many chances to see many stars since moving to New York. What are the best places to see many stars near the city? Thank you

Help Music therapy students?

My friend’s child is autistic and has really benefitted from music therapy previously. Unfortunately, his school no longer offers it.

Do college students going for music therapy need any sort of clinical hours with real students? Maybe I’m not using the exact correct term here. Where could I look into this further?

Thank you!

Other HIGH BEAMS

Why is it all of a sudden everyone is driving with high beams on. And yes, I know lights are brighter on newer cars, but I shouldn't see someone's front door with your car lights. If they go wider than the road or the little blue light on your dash is on, your high beams are on. And they are only necessary in the country where there are no street lights!!! And out of common courtesy, you should turn them off briefly when a car is coming in the opposite direction.

Let's just normalize driving etiquette again. 😁

Thats is all. Thanks

Discussion Lower falls clean up?

Hey all, I go to RIT and regularly fish for salmon and steelhead below Lower Falls. It's such a beautiful place in the heart of Rochester, but the trash is really bad. Is there any way to organize a clean-up? Just curious, want to do my part to make Rochester a little nicer.

Grew up going to this theater, makes me kinda sad to see it still sitting abandoned. Maybe if they had put in recliners like Eastview it would’ve survived. Odds are probably low another theater chain will buy it and flip it? What do you think will happen to it?

Discussion Are Panhandlers getting more aggressive ?

I’m not trying to upset anyone, I realize that there is a large population of people who need help and resources. My concern here is that everyday I pass several panhandlers on University Ave between winton and East Ave and they are getting very aggressive. Shouting and shaking their fists at motorists, approaching windows and getting in people’s faces, weaving through cars and blocking traffic. It isn’t all of them but it is nearly everyday common. Is this happening everywhere or is this somewhat isolated to the few individuals I see everyday?
