Pet loss My baby boy is gone
My baby boy is gone. I was trying so much for his stage three ckd. Fluids every night, had to go up to 150 ml, changed vets because two were not communicating well with me. Last emergency vet said 150 sounds like too much. He was on lactulose, fluids, cbd, porus one, amnivast, fomatidine, probiotics and I finally got mirataz last week for him. It helped him eat so much, he perked up, was talkative like he used to be, and four days into eating like he used to was up and walking around again. On Columbus Day weekend my fluid bad got compromised and I couldn't get another from my vet until that Tuesday so he went without fluids for three days and I didn't have the money to take him to urgent care because of all the other vet visits and meds. It took a toll on him. I almost got him back to as hydrated as before but it never got back to that. He was even eating his hydra care again. He was so so good about taking his meds. He would always want pets after and be the same. He wouldn't run away after his fluids. He would listen to me when he had front porch time and wouldn't get too close to the edge. I wish I took him outside more his last week of living. But I guess the amount of food he started eating again was too much for his system. He was diagnosed on September first (his gotcha day) and declined fast 😭 he lost a lot of weight due to the nausea, and when I took him in for his final vet visit at urgent care because he couldn't pass a stool, it was taking him an hour and he was so exhausted he was laying on his side trying to pass it, the vet said his gums looked pale and it was concerning the anemia was possibly showing up when he was just diagnosed last month. Ive been to three vets since his diagnosis, first one I had to do most of the thinking, they told me to give fluids once a week and wouldn't let me take a bag home, second was communicating weird and talked about putting him down before even trying an appetite stimulant, third was great, but none of them talked about his pale gums. He got an enema, I took him home and he was uncomfortable the whole night 😭 finally got to sleep, passed two stools within the 24 hours and I thought I was in the clear. While I was in the other room I hear him throw up, he had been throwing up every time after trying to push it out for the past 72 hours and definitely didn't have any food in his system because it had all been fluid and bile, but then he threw up fecal matter 😭😭 my poor poor little boy. Took him back to urgent care and the vet confirmed with me that that is very bad, and he could be hospitalized but even then he might not make it. So I had to call it. We sat in the room together for three hours, he curled up in my lap. He passed in my arms. I tried so fucking hard for him. If I could have given him my kidney I would have. My only child, my favorite little boy declined so fast. When I finally told the vet to give the euthanasia my brain was panicking saying "Why are you doing this to your boy?!?" It felt like the worst dream I have ever had. I spent some time with him after his heart stopped. But I couldn't lift his little limp body up for the vet and couldn't let myself see it. But I did see his feet as he was gently taken away from me for the last time. He was so furry, everyone loved him and he loved everyone. Would still want pets from the vets even after multiple temperature checks. He was my little sun spirit. He loved me so much. He was only about 9. I thought I was going to have time to spoil him in old age. This shit is so cruel. But im so happy I did my job and ushered him to the threshold of this realm. I was holing him when his heart stopped. I can't believe my boy is gone.
