21 years ago, Rammstein released their fifth studio album Rosenrot.

The album was recorded in almost three months in the El Cortijo Studio in Spain, and the Teldex Studio in Germany. In an interview Till mentioned, that the work on the album was rushed and they didn't have time to really think about the songs.

Before the album was called Rosenrot, the band had the album titles Reise, Reise Vol. 2 and Reise, Weiter, Reise in mind. The artwork for the album is nearly the same as for the Japanese edition of the previous album Reise, Reise. The cover shows the ice breaker USS Atka, on a photo taken by Charles Swithinbank on 13 March 1960 at McMurdo Station, Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica.

For the album the band worked with songs, that were left over from the recordings to Reise, Reise. Those songs were Rosenrot, Wo bist du, Mann gegen Mann, Zerstören, Ein Lied, Feuer und Wasser and Hilf mir. All seven songs from the previous album session were left as they were. For the newly recorded songs, the band reworked a few demos, which turned into Benzin, Spring, Stirb nicht vor mir and Te quiero puta!.

4 days before the album release, a flashcard was released. It contained sound snippets of several songs and the photoshoot by Mat Hennek. Flake is not present on the promotional photos for the album, because he suffered from mumps. His brother replaced him instead.

These drawing have a speciel story to tell. Them and listen to Rammstein, got me through a dark periode of my life. I did some stupid shit and were sentence 1,5 year in prison. I deside, that Ive would use the time constructic, istead of give it all up. I had never draw before but now I had all the time in the world. I cant express how much Rammstein meant to me in these 18 month, as said it was my escape. My perspectiv was in creativity, listen to metal and learn something completly new from the bottom up.
