Calythera is a narrated podcast about an invented continent, Aeloria, fifteen hundred years after a catastrophe its people call the Mourning. Civilization rebuilt around aether, a pressurized gas that powers its cities. I narrate every word myself.
Episode 6 is the Mourning, told by someone who was somewhere else that day: a sailor and captain named Cratten, three weeks out from a harbor he had spent his whole life being glad to leave. 46 minutes. New episodes every Wednesday.

Backyard Reno is a Lovecraftian suburban horror-comedy about cosmic terrors hiding beneath the most ordinary parts of American life. It's about homeownership, masculinity, marriage, weird contractors, and the terrifying possibility that some problems really are outside your property line.
So pull up a chair, grab a beverage, and join Dan on his renovation journey.
Just don't ask Tommy what he's planning to do with that hole.
He'll tell you it's no problem.
And somehow, that's the most frightening thing of all.

Sally demands restitution, Lucy shows some rare compassion for Linus, and the song Linus and Lucy turns out to be a big hit. Plus, Linus and his blanket might end up in therapy, yet another guest notices just how similar every Peanuts character looks, and the Van Pelt parents should face legal ramifications for how neglectful they are.

Kute grew up behind his father’s church in Ghana. His dad was known as “the miracle man of Africa,” and Kute watched him heal the sick in front of crowds of a thousand people. At 14, Kute was ordained to inherit all of it. Over 300 churches and hundreds of thousands of followers.
At 18, he said no.
He packed two suitcases, took $800 from his mother, and moved to Los Angeles knowing nobody. No plan, no safety net.
It didn’t go the way you’d hope. He spent two years broke and homeless. He chased a talk show deal with the same managers who represented Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey, then turned it down on a gut feeling he couldn’t even explain. That one took guts, and honestly, it made me think about a few of my own “obvious” opportunities that weren’t.
The part that stuck with me most was how he talked about money. For years he unconsciously pushed it away, because his father had chosen money over family. In his mind, staying broke was staying pure. That belief nearly kept him broke for good.
He also broke down why goals don’t manifest, and it wasn’t the usual stuff. Timing. Lessons we haven’t learned yet. And the counter-intentions running quietly underneath the thing we say we want.
His big takeaway is that real change starts with telling yourself the truth, before you take any action at all. Most of us spend our time editing the story instead.
Here’s what I keep asking myself since this conversation: what’s the thing you’ve been trying to fix for years that might not be a strategy problem at all?
Have you ever caught yourself holding a belief that was quietly working against what you said you wanted? Curious what it was and how you spotted it.
