10 TRUE Things Alienated Kids Won’t Admit..... (from a child survivor’s POV)

I’m an adult child of parental alienation (29, f). I figured everything out last year... after being alienated from my dad for twenty years. As I'm sure you can imagine, it has been a painful, confusing, and heart-breaking process since learning the truth. At the same time, however, the truth has allowed me to begin to heal and become the person I've always wanted to be.

I created The Anti-Alienation Project to speak out about this form of abuse. I thought I’d share the link to my most recent video because I’m hopeful some targeted parents might find it helpful :)

Let’s make a Small Joys thread.

This is the worst. We know that. Let’s share some small joys that keep us going. Here are two for me:

Lately, my husband and my other child take a morning hike on the weekends. We’re trying different trails around the area and it’s been peaceful and beautiful. The movement + sunshine (I know most people aren’t getting sunshine right now, but spring is coming, right?) + quiet has been really nice. I sleep better on those days. The reminder that seasons change keeps me hopeful.

Also, 2 friends and I started watching a series together. They come over Tuesday nights in their pjs, I buy junk food and make tea, and we watch a couple of episodes. It’s a comedy so we laugh together. Community is healing for me right now. They both know a bit of what’s going on with me, but we don’t talk about it much so it stays lighthearted and easy.

Side note: It took me a long time to find joy in anything. Sometimes, I fear the worst is yet to come. But my therapist reminded me recently of how much I’ve already overcome. I do believe it will get better. Might take a decade. But I’m choosing to hang on until then and want to be present for as much of life as I can. I want to show up for myself and my friends and family. If my son chooses to come back around one day, I want him to see the same strong, reliable person he’s always known.

Communicating through letters.

In the new order it says my husband can write letters to his daughter through her cou selor who must review them. He hasn't written any letters because why would his letter be reviewed?!

Anyways so I write my stepduaghter letters directly to her I let her know she's having a baby sister on the way.

She ACTUALLY WROTE BACK. She said she would like to be in her sister's life.

It seemed reassuring.

She hasn't spoken to her father in 10 months now. I mailed her a baby shower invitation. I have no idea if she will go or not. If she will have a ride or if she would be allowed to go at all. I will be extremely surprised if she shows up but I'm also concerned about of her mother or step father goes as her chaperone.

If her stepfather goes, I will need to call the cops to have him removed but if her mother (alienator brainwasher mental health abuser) goes idk what to do.

She's at least very good at pretending to be nice so I know the peace will be kept. Her husband on the other he doesn't pretend. Hes a genuine POS. If they show up to chaperone for her, what am I to do?

This shower is for my baby, my friends and family with good and positive energy. My step daughter is family but her abusers are not.

Why

Maybe this is too broad of a question but from reading everyone’s stories here and living my own. Why is this allowed to happen?

When the obvious signs of parental alienation happen or there is proof, why is there nothing that can be done? Clearly it’s doing the child harm, look at what we’ve all posted. I don’t understand why no governing body or law or whatever allows this type of abuse to happen?

I always equate it to jay walking. If I jay walk across the street in front of a cop, I’m breaking the law and could be subject to a fine. But figuratively kidnapping a child from their parent and everyone’s hands go up and don’t want to touch it?

I dunno. Just a frustrated father trying to make sense of it all.

22 years of heartache

My son was taken at age 11 by my ex and had no contact with his younger sister or me until age 16. He was told lies about me that he believes, we had a better relationship since he was 16 but not as close as we were. he is now 33 and got engages and instead of calling to tell me he had his father post it un our family chat and I tried to call him to congratulate him but he kept telling me he doesn’t talk on the phone to send him a chat msg so after a month he still wouldn’t call or pick up the phone. Then I find out the wedding venue was picked and posted on Facebook 4 days prior to me finding out.. he didn’t have the decency to tell me even in the family chat. So I made a comment how it would have been nice to be told since I am his mother. And we got into an argument in the chat and he told me I am uninvited for thanksgiving and the wedding. And just now wrote to his sister he is standing by what he said and that I scared his fiancé. Then my brother who used to be friends with my ex until he found out what a POS he was called him to say it’s not right to do to me what they are doing. Ex told my brother he is hiring extra security for the wedding. Wtf? All because I called ex out on the parental alienation in a private chat that he decided to once again make it my son’s business. Yes ex did say things about me in front of kids. He told me he left my daughter with me because he couldn’t ’influence’ her at age 8 to go with him back when he took son. Courts did nothing. Went to court about 4x always in my favor but they didn’t enforce anything. He then moved out of state had no idea where my son was for almost a year. Complete torture.

Here it is 22 years later, thought son and I were on a good path then he gets engaged and I’m told nothing. I start being treated as an outsider again. I was so excited. Congratulated them. Tried calling my son to tell him in person and he started with, Mom, I don’t talk on the phone. If you want to hear my voice you can listen to it on the radio when I dispatch! Well that was unfold for. So I tried reaching out to his fiancé to congratulate her and then my son texted to me. Don’t call her. She doesn’t like to talk on the phone either.. WTF? At the top of what’s going on. Escalated and blew my mind because I don’t understand what happened why he was acting this way all of a sudden. I have been so hurt over the years by ex and how he raised my son. I cry all the time again. Those wounds have reopened and I’m hurting so bad. My beautiful boy who I watched grow up from afar then celebrated every milestone since 16 with now uninvited me to his wedding because I expressed my feelings about not being told about the engagement and venue and finding out about it on FACEBOOK! I wasn’t nasty to him or angry I just told him I feel left out of my son’s most important day.

If read this to this point thank you. I just needed to vent. As the parent whose child was alienated from them, the wound never closes. I tried to forgive my ex to keep peace so we could all get along as we aged but his influence and mental illness overtook my son again. I don’t know how to cope. My daughter is 30 now and remembers life with her abusive father and has told me over and over what a good mother I was and am. I love her and my son so deeply But I still long for my little boy. I hate that he believes the lies and thinks I’m a horrible person. No one else in my life does and it should be enough but it’s not. My heart goes out to all caught up in this heartbreaking situation.

So am I the problem for feeling betrayed that my mom and sisters babysit for my ex on his custody time—especially while he's trying to take sole custody of my kids?

I have sole physical custody of my two sons (11 and 9). My ex has court-ordered visitation specifically on his days off from work so he can spend time with them.

The problem is that he works during his custody time, and instead of returning the boys to me, my mother and sisters step in as his free babysitters. When I confront them, they dismiss me and say: "We're just helping the kids, not him."

By covering his schedule, they are taking those hours away from me and helping him manufacture a track record of full-time care.

A few weeks ago, my ex escalated: he filed an emergency motion in family court to strip me of custody entirely and grant himself Sole Legal and Sole Physical Custody. In his sworn declaration to the judge, he literally weaponized my family against me—writing under oath that my family has "had enough" of me and citing private conversations to claim I'm an unfit mother.

I sent my mother and sisters the official court paperwork so they could see his exact words.

Their response? Complete, total silence. Not a single reply.

They refuse to stop bailing him out and I'm just self centered and ungrateful?

Am I the problem for feeling deeply betrayed and asking that my mom and sisters completely stop babysitting for my ex?

Child is suffering.

My child is suffering in school, and emotionally, because of the situation he is in.

His mother refuses to co-parent with me.

His education is failing because of his in-school behavior and I want to homeschool but she doesn’t want to hear it.

From what my son tells me he is mostly left with his grandparents, even overnight when he is supposed to be with me if she isn’t with him overnight.

She’s always going on trips, he is taking a backseat.

He is starting to have behavioral concerns.

I’m also being alienated.

At first when I didn’t face-time I was accused of not caring.

Now she refuses to even let me talk to him.

He’s basically living a sham of a life and I can’t do anything about it.

I can’t afford an attorney.

What do I do?

People Against Parental Genocide (PAPG) Help Us Build a Movement That Holds the System Accountable

Thumbnail gofund.me
1 Upvotes

Our mission: Protect families. Expose failures. Demand accountability. Keep the voices of parents and children from being ignored.

Why People Against Parental Genocide Will Be Different

Across the country, families find themselves navigating a child welfare system that can have life-changing consequences. Parents may struggle to obtain meaningful legal representation, challenge questionable decisions, access independent investigations, or make their concerns heard by the people responsible for overseeing their cases.

Too often, families are left trying to navigate complicated legal proceedings, mountains of paperwork, agency requirements, and administrative complaints without the resources or guidance they need.

People Against Parental Genocide (PAPG) is being built to change that.

We are not building another organization that simply raises awareness, shares stories, and tells families to seek help elsewhere. We want to develop a practical, action-oriented advocacy organization that connects families with resources, helps identify procedural and accountability concerns, and works to ensure that legitimate complaints receive serious attention.

Our goal is to help bridge the gap between families who need assistance and the resources that may be available to them.

What Will Make PAPG Different?

  1. Private Investigation and Independent Fact-Finding Services

When families believe their cases have been mishandled, they deserve a way to organize the facts and seek an independent review.

PAPG intends to develop access to qualified private investigators and investigative professionals who can, where legally authorized:

Review timelines, documentation, and relevant case records.

Help identify inconsistencies between reports, records, and documented events.

Conduct lawful interviews and gather relevant information.

Help families organize evidence and develop factual case chronologies.

Document potential misconduct or procedural irregularities for appropriate review.

We want families to have more than their word against an agency's records. We want them to have a structured, evidence-based way to raise concerns.

Investigative services will be provided within applicable licensing, privacy, and legal requirements. PAPG will not promise particular findings or outcomes.

  1. Access to Actual Pro Bono Attorneys

Legal representation can be expensive, and families facing child welfare proceedings may have difficulty finding independent legal guidance.

PAPG aims to establish a network of licensed attorneys willing to provide qualifying families with pro bono assistance or reduced-cost legal services.

Depending on available funding, attorney participation, eligibility, and professional requirements, this network could help families access:

Initial legal consultations.

Referrals to attorneys experienced in Article 10 proceedings and family court.

Assistance understanding court orders, procedural requirements, and filing deadlines.

Independent reviews of potential due-process or civil-rights concerns.

Guidance on administrative complaints and appropriate oversight channels.

Legal assistance for eligible families whose circumstances warrant further review.

We want to connect families with real, qualified legal professionals—not simply hand them a list of websites and wish them luck.

PAPG will work to develop genuine attorney partnerships. Until those partnerships and funding are secured, we will be transparent about the services actually available. Legal representation will depend on attorney availability, eligibility, and the scope of each attorney's engagement.

  1. Accountability and Oversight Advocacy

PAPG will work to bring documented concerns to the appropriate oversight bodies when families believe their rights have been violated or agency procedures have not been followed.

Our proposed work includes:

Helping families prepare organized, factual complaints.

Referring credible concerns to appropriate oversight authorities.

Supporting requests for independent administrative reviews.

Tracking publicly available policy changes and oversight findings.

Advocating for stronger transparency, meaningful complaint procedures, and safeguards against abuse of authority.

Supporting lawful public education and legislative advocacy.

We will focus on verifiable facts, documented concerns, and appropriate channels for accountability—not rumors, harassment, or unsupported accusations.

  1. Financial Transparency and Responsible Oversight

Public trust requires transparency.

PAPG intends to examine publicly available budgets, audits, contracts, and government reports relevant to child welfare funding and oversight. Where appropriate, we will advocate for clearer reporting on how public funds are allocated and whether programs are meeting their stated objectives.

We want taxpayers, families, policymakers, and oversight officials to have better information with which to evaluate the effectiveness and accountability of the systems entrusted with protecting children.

Donations to PAPG will be tracked and used according to the organization's governing documents, approved budget, applicable law, and donor restrictions. We intend to provide supporters with clear updates about fundraising, expenditures, and program development.

  1. A Family Advocacy and Case-Organization Program

Families dealing with court proceedings often face overwhelming amounts of paperwork and conflicting deadlines.

PAPG aims to build a practical support program that helps eligible families organize their records and understand the next steps they may wish to discuss with their attorneys.

Potential services include:

Case timeline preparation.

Document organization and evidence indexing.

Court-date and deadline tracking.

Meeting preparation and question checklists.

Referral coordination.

Support locating parenting, counseling, and other services when appropriate.

Referrals to qualified professionals for independent assessments when warranted.

We want families to feel better equipped, informed, and prepared—not lost in a system they do not understand.

  1. Support for Children and Family Reunification

Children deserve safety, stability, and consideration of their individual needs. Parents deserve fair treatment and a meaningful opportunity to address legitimate concerns.

PAPG intends to support lawful, child-centered advocacy that promotes family stability, appropriate reunification efforts when safe and legally appropriate, and meaningful consideration of children's relationships and well-being.

Our work will not be about ignoring genuine safety concerns. It will be about advocating for decisions grounded in evidence, proper procedures, individual circumstances, and the best interests of the child.

  1. Public Awareness, Research, and Legislative Reform

Individual families should not have to fight alone to bring systemic concerns to public attention.

PAPG plans to collect voluntarily submitted information, protect confidential records, identify recurring issues where the evidence supports doing so, and publish carefully reviewed educational materials and reports.

Over time, we aim to build relationships with:

Family advocates and affected parents.

Attorneys and legal aid organizations.

Licensed investigators and relevant professionals.

Researchers and policy experts.

Journalists and responsible media organizations.

Legislators and government oversight officials.

Other nonprofit organizations working to protect children and families.

Our objective is to turn credible individual concerns into informed public discussion and constructive reform.

What Your Donation Will Help Build

Your contribution will help PAPG move from a mission and an idea to an organization capable of providing meaningful assistance.

Funds raised may support:

Establishing and maintaining nonprofit operations.

Recruiting and coordinating volunteer attorneys and professional partners.

Developing a qualified private investigator referral network.

Subsidizing eligible investigative or case-review services.

Supporting legal aid partnerships and eligible pro bono matters.

Creating secure systems for handling sensitive family records.

Developing educational materials and case-organization resources.

Researching public records, policies, budgets, and oversight reports.

Building a family referral and support program.

Conducting public education and legislative advocacy.

Covering necessary administrative, insurance, compliance, and operating expenses.

We will prioritize direct program development while maintaining the safeguards and administrative infrastructure necessary to operate responsibly.

Why I Am Starting This Organization

I believe families deserve an organization that takes their concerns seriously and helps them pursue answers through lawful, evidence-based channels.

Too many people feel powerless when dealing with institutions that have significant authority over their lives. When families raise concerns, they should have meaningful ways to document those concerns, seek qualified assistance, and request appropriate independent review.

I want PAPG to be an organization that does more than speak about these problems. I want us to build practical resources, establish professional partnerships, and work toward measurable improvements in transparency, accountability, and family support.

This will take time, funding, qualified professionals, and the support of people who believe that protecting children and respecting family rights must go hand in hand.

We will not claim to have services in place before they are established. We will not promise legal victories, guaranteed reunification, or outcomes that no nonprofit can honestly guarantee. Instead, we will work to build the partnerships, procedures, and resources necessary to make our mission real.

Join Us in Building PAPG

Your donation is an investment in the development of a new kind of family advocacy organization—one that seeks to combine investigative resources, attorney partnerships, case support, public oversight, and legislative advocacy under one mission.

Whether you can give $10, $25, $50, $100, or more, your support can help us take the next step toward building these programs.

If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this campaign with friends, family members, advocates, legal professionals, and anyone who believes families deserve fair treatment and accountable institutions.

We are building an organization that aims to turn frustration into documented evidence, isolation into support, and legitimate concerns into meaningful action.

People Against Parental Genocide (PAPG)

Protect families. Demand accountability. Make every voice count.

Thank you for helping us build something that can make a difference.

What can I expect from a Motion to Change - Ontario, Canada

Hey

Initially when we Seperated my ex withheld the kids from me for 5 months before I could get an emergency order in place. We went through the court process and did mediation/arbitration. Left the arbitration with lawyer telling me i would get no less than 50% and potentially more. Fast forward to arbitrators decision and she completely went against me, even allowing ex to move the girls over two hours away. She gave me 6 days every 14 days (Tuesday-Wednesday every week and Friday to Monday. Every other weekend) but the issue came that she put pickups and dropoffs at school. I work like I said 2.5 hours away. She also awarded nightly FaceTime calls, shared decision making, listed the school the girls were to go to, and shared summer and holiday time (week on, week off)

Well my ex moved and since the move has refused any exchange outside the court order. I request weekly to have them after I get off work, offering to drive the entire way and she refuses and says unless I follow the order exact which is impossible with my employment, I don’t get the girls. I’ve looked into moving closer but it’s a very expensive area and no jobs in my field in the area. She doesn’t answer the nightly FaceTime calls, having answered only 16% of the nightly calls I make over the last year (since the order) and only 5% last longer than a minute. She put them in a different school then was ordered, and entered my oldest daughter in 2x weekly cheerleading practices that run during the week on week off in summer, despite me saying no to this if it interfered with my time, leading to my daughter (9) to refuse to come, as she was told “cheer is like a job and if you miss you will get fired and thrown off team”

Now the odd time I do get through to them on call, my oldest refuses to talk to me, acts like she doesn’t like me anymore. We’ve always had a great relationship before but I genuinely feel like she hates me now for no reason. At one point she told me “mom says you only want us for child support”. I recently was made aware of a Facebook post that I saved that shows my daughter had a baseball tournament, that I didn’t know she even played, and my ex bragged in the post about how many fans were there for her first tournament but especially thanks to her new boyfriend who took the day off work and drove to it. No problem with boyfriend going but shouldn’t her dad have a chance to go to this too?

In our court order there is wording basically warning her about the withholding. My exes lawyer didn’t file our order with the courts so when I tried to challenge it I was told it needed to be filed and then have to wait 6 months. It is now been 6 months and I’m going to file the motion this week and request primary, 50/50 if mother chooses to move back, and Ontario children’s lawyer involvement. I’m just so scarred from the first round, I’m just wondering if anyone has any idea what I can expect from this one? Has anyone ever had anything like this and gone back? What happened?

This was the short version. There’s much more but at least gives an idea.

This is Ontario, Canada for what it’s worth.

New plan of attack

So following the storm of the last hearing, we are shifting tactics. We are now going to press the judge for full accountability and transparency. As courts are videotaped here, we are demanding that her comments are analysed independently, and that should her comments be (correctly) interpreted as prejudice, we demand recusal.

The fact that the blame was fully flung at me by the judge before I testified, and without proper longitudinal evidence analysis is pretty wild. This alongside the consistent interruption of myself and my lawyer by the judge generate many concerns. We were admonished for demanding we were not interrupted - yet ex spoke mistruths for over an hour uninterrupted and our questions were rejected immediately. My lawyer is an experienced trial lawyer with international cases, and she was shocked by the clear misbalance in treatment.

I also stated that I’d be away for the next 2 weeks at least on work - so what does judge do? Schedule hearing exactly 2 weeks later. It is almost feeling that this judge is looking to push through a verdict without proper scrutiny. In addition, we have a formal complaint sitting with Ministry of Justice and believe that the hearing should not continue (yet alone a decision be made!) until this is properly reviewed.

Am hanging on…but now I see the level of hypocrisy or potential corruption in the system. Will fight until the longitudinal evidence is properly reviewed - after that, I’m outta bullets except hope and patience

Advice needed

My son is currently living with my nan & is being extremely controlling about me seeing him, i need advice on how i can fix this.

Some backstory, during covid I had several very traumatic things happen to me & due to this i expressed to my nan that i needed help with looking after my son as my head was a mess. She told me the only help she could provide was my son staying with her, this only led to me having a bigger breakdown & what followed was her belittling me, telling me he was better off living with her & when i expressed that what was happening was making me feel like i didn’t want to be on this earth anymore she told me that was okay & she would look after my son when i go, she made me feel that it would be best for him if i wasn’t alive. She also turned my whole family against me so i had no one to turn to.
In this time my nan also went to courts to get a special guardianship order, she didn’t inform me this was happening & when i asked about a letter i’d had from the courts she told me it was nothing to worry about & that i didn’t need to go to court it was just so she could take my son to the doctors without me being there ( i know i was stupid, i was in my early 20’s & not in a good headspace).

Fast forward a couple years & i began to put in the mental work, medication, therapy & making lots of supporting friends & rebuilding a relationship with my mum (who also began to see how my nan was treating me). Despite me working on myself my nan clearly had no intentions of changing her behaviour towards me, & she began reducing my time with my son & upping the emotional abuse towards me. Then after an incident where i let him play with polly pockets & she didn’t like this, she stopped me seeing him completely for almost a year. she only let me see him on a few occasions through family members that i’d told her had been abusive towards me.

So after saving up the money i took her to court. they said that because she had reduced my time so drastically we needed to build up me seeing him slowly so it wouldn’t disturb him, we began the contact through a contact centre, the courts also said because we’re a ‘family’ we should work it out between us & up my time with him. this didn’t happen, mediation didn’t work as she refused to answer anything & would only bring up incidents that had happened when i was a child. This exact scenario played out 4 times in court with them saying the same thing & her doing nothing, 20+ mediation sessions & 3 years later, the only changes have been that i see him where i live, not in the contact centre & i now see him for 7 hours every other week.
*To add, the contact centre from the beginning said that we shouldn’t be there as it was for people who needed supervision with their children & i was definitely not one of those people, i had nothing but positive feedback from the staff there who would regularly tell me how much they loved when we would come in because they “loved watching us play together & could see how happy we both are”.

A years ago i had a daughter, my nan still hasn’t changed, not even to try let my son build a relationship with his sister. the last time we visited court the courts were very clear that she needed to up my time & that she wasn’t being fair & had to fix her behaviour towards me, she hasn’t. She continuously tells me i can have extra time just to take it away with no reasoning. Her husband (who got physical with me & my cousin a few years back) has now started coming to pick ups & drop offs to intimidate me. She told me i could have my son all day in his birthday, & yesterday (2 days before his birthday) she told me I’ll only have him for 3 hours.

My son has told me over the years how much he hates the rules my nan has put in place. This past year he has started to express even more that he wants to come back & live with me & is making it very clear that he doesn’t enjoy living with them. He has also said he knows he cannot ask them for more time with me or my mum because he knows they don’t let him do what he wants. They make him sit in his room alone most of the time & have him around people who shouldn’t be around children, but when i tell them these people (from my experience with them) shouldn’t be allowed near kids they completely dismiss me & actually used it against me.

I am going to contact mediation to get that started again & try to get her to hopefully change her mind & move things forward. But after so many attempts i’m really losing hope. I’m looking for advice on what i can do, where do i go with all of this? Solicitors are very expensive & i am trying to save up for court but that wont be possible for a very long time with the way my money is going right now, i also know she will have a solicitor as she has a friend who is her solicitor for free.
