Question Why do people mess with the paranormal?
Assuming the paranormal is real, eg ghosts, demons, spirits, etc; why would anyone actually mess with it?
Why use quiji boards, why do seances?

I'm an intuitive and sensitive to spirits.
Newer cemeteries feel more peaceful. Like I don't feel a lot of energy.
The older ones is the one I feel the most activities in.
Like is it because there's so many visitors still or is it because they're younger spirits?

So, I had some guests stay for a few days in my living room and they kept telling me they saw something peeling at them in the kitchen, from behind the microwave. I brought this up to my roommate who has been regularly sleeping in the living room and roommate mentions they see it regularly but also from the living room window and kitchen window. Well, last night I asked her to try to capture it on video and honestly I think she did.
I'll attach both the unedited video and the brightened&zoomed in one, you can hear the cat freaking out in the background as well. It's peeking from the bottom left corner/side of the window
Let me know what y'all think

Craziest thing I’ve ever seen on video. He said that before he started recording that he heard three knocks and his bedroom closet light turned on. The noise at the end is a wrench he had on his dresser getting thrown towards him. Anyone have any explanation?

Sorry for the shortened words this community only allows 107 characters for the post titles. Let me know what you guys think, do entities not show themselves to skeptics?

Hi I'm new to this sub and I don't usually believe in paranormal things but they are intriguing. I don't believe in ghosts or anything just because I'm the type to have to see it to believe it.
So a couple nights ago I was making dinner, and I heard my son call me. "Mom!" I went to check on him and he said he didn't call me. I went to check on my daughter and she was asleep. The TV wasn't on and it sounded exactly like one of my kids. I started feeling uneasy at that point. I didn't hear anything after that, but I started getting scared that maybe I let something in because I like to leave the patio door open so the dogs can sit out there. I was getting really worried. My partner thought I was joking though.
Even though I am a skeptic, the idea of mimics are really creepy to me. Probably because I had a weird experience when I was 16 and I believe it was a mimic as well. I still can't explain it to this day.

Just found this sub and I love the paranormal.
When I was in 7th grade I lived in this new apartment complex in Florida. It was a nice place and I liked it. Nothing creepy about it.
What I’m about to say is a precursor to what my paranormal experience actually was, but I’ve never had sleep paralysis before or after and I had sleep paralysis in this apartment. I remember seeing a dark figure in my bathroom doorway, felt like I was levitating and I couldn’t move. Did some research on my experience and I brushed it off as I knew sleep paralysis was a thing that could happen to people.
About a week or two after that, I was gaming late at night with some friends online. Around 3-4am I started to look for my phone and I couldn’t find it. After about 5 minutes of looking, I start looking for my phone around my bed and my phone randomly falls from the ceiling onto my bed directly where I was looking for it. I couldn’t see the ceiling from my perspective as I was a foot away from my bed. No one in my house besides myself and my dad. My dad’s asleep and my door was locked. Just me in the room.
I remember backing into the corner of my room in shock while sitting in my office chair. I start hysterically telling my friends what just happened over Skype and I’m laughing like the joker as that’s always been my defense mechanism and I couldn’t fathom what had just happened. I remember staying up until the sun came up sitting in the corner and then my dad woke up and I slept on the couch and didn’t even tell him about it. He just thought I pulled an all night bender playing games as I did here and there at that age.
The craziest part about all of this is that I told my dad this story years later. He then told me that in that house, one night he woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat on the floor of our kitchen with a knife in his hand. No recollection of how he got there or why he was there. My dad’s not a crazy person. I know because my mom’s bipolar and a schizophrenic so I know crazy. My dad is sound of mind so when he told me this I begun to laugh like crazy as that’s the wildest thing I’d ever heard and it was insane to me that he had experiences in that house as well and we both just never told each other till years later.
I’ve never had anything else paranormal happen to me before or after that. We only stayed at that apartment for a year.

It started roughly 2 months ago when we would come back home, and our dog would be terrified as if it had been beaten or scared to death by something, we assumed nothing of it because this dog was naturally a little bit more skittish than other dogs.
However, this continued over the past few months, and the dog grew more and more afraid. One night I was up late home alone with the dog. It seemed to have spotted something down the hallway and looked over immediately and started growling. I looked over. I saw nothing and was deeply confused before returning back to what I was doing. A few minutes later, I saw something in the corner of my eye, which I know happens to a lot of people, but the dog seem to have seen it as well. Seeing that the dog saw what I saw was a little bit unnerving, but I ignored it until it continued to happen over the past few weeks when I would see something and so would the dog.
I recently moved out of my mother‘s house because she started performing lots of witchcraft and satanic rituals that made me uncomfortable as a Christian not trying to bring religion into this. Just wanted to give some context.. I live at my father‘s house which whom she hates deeply.
I’ve noticed lights flickering and subtle sounds in the house while the dog reacts to them and I occasionally glance over and see things as well that looked shaped like a human or some kind of spirit. My whole life I’ve seen spirits around me and ones that have frightened me but they eventually left me alone.
What is this and how do I get rid of it?

So, over the last couple of months, I’ve started watching horror videos on YouTube, mostly from channels like Beauties & Beasts, Asian Oddities, and Sleslor (Sleslor isn’t really scary, but I might as well mention it).
Asian ghost stories scare me the most because they’re based on places and folklore that are geographically close to where I live.
Before I started watching these horror videos, I considered myself brave—not fearless, but brave enough to live in a supposedly haunted warehouse for about six months to save money on rent. The warehouse had been abandoned for a while because of COVID.
Before I started watching these horror videos, I used to sleep with the lights off. Now, I need a night-light to be able to sleep.
Am I just mentally weak, or is there something wrong?
Extra information i need to clarified, i rarely watching the scary one nowaday, and if i did i only allow myself to watch it before 6 pm.

Just been watching the series. KD Stafford is the biggest fake I have ever seen on a paranormal show!
When using his "spirit boxes" he always keeps his hand on it and you can see him pushing buttons.
Every sound that comes through he immediately declares what it says to tie in with what they were told , even when it sounded completely different.
He always claims to see or hear whatever someone says they saw or heard, when HE goes through.

Went to the beach shortly after sundown and took these photos. My friend also took some from his phone and also caught the same things. I’ve asked a few people and they confirm what I have seen in the photos. Green orbs, face figure and silhouette can all be seen in the first photo. Am I loosing it or do y’all see something? When I saw the face in the photo, I instantly felt chills and a negative energy.

Also mods if you don’t let me post this tell me a good other subbreddit to post this on. I might do updates but only if this post gets big. see you if I update this i guess

I would prefer seeing/being haunted by an animal looking entity rather than humanoid ones, because they trigger sort of an uncanny valley feeling. Seeing an odd looking wolfdog or bull would be a better sight than a creepy smiling person.😭
My friend answered this question by saying she preferred seeing things rather than hearing something invisible make noises, because if she was able to see an apparition or something, she could just charge at them like a bull.

I’ve always believed there are witches and ghosts, yet I’ve sadly never had any experience with them myself.
I would love to hear of any experiences that you have had, including where and when. Did you believe before or was it the experience that made you believe?
Any genuine stories I would love to read particularly at this ‘spooky’ time of year 🎃🧙♀️👻

I work at a haunt, and we all see shadow people constantly. Other actors are more spiritually inclined, but I do firmly believe it's just our brains tricking themselves. We have flashing lights and are always expecting a group to wander in
But earlier today I spotted one in my home. Which is weird because my home isn't dark, doesn't have strobes, and I'm not expecting people to walk in. Looking into it, shadow people are very common for those with psychological conditions or hard drug users
The worst I have is ADHD and a caffeine addiction. What else commonly causes sightings of "shadow people"?

I work at a pet resort and spa. That’s what it’s called at least. It’s a boarding facility with daycare for pets, as well as grooming. There are 3 long halls where the pets are boarded, as well as an office, laundry room, cat area, grooming room, bathroom, a crematorium and an indoor space for daycare for when the weather isn’t favorable.
On Saturday nights, I work a shift alone. The halls make me very uncomfortable because I can feel the residual energies of dogs that are no longer living. I can feel their eyes on me, fixed, and waiting to be let out. It’s never creepy, just a bit spooky.
However today, as I was walking a shepherd to the indoor play area, I passed by the light switch and when I opened the door, everything was black aside from a dimly lit exit sign. The Shepard is always a bit nervous, but she halted in the door way.
I could feel the darkness. At the far end of the room, in the thickest blackness, I got a sense of an angry man, maybe angry men, it was awful. I felt like they were wearing all black but had stark white faces. The dog and I turned around after what felt like a 30 seconds yet 3 hours of suffocation.
Once I flipped the light on she was less hesitant, the room still felt awful, as if this presence didn’t shirk away with the dark, it just made its self adjust to the light.
TLDR:
I felt a darkness at work while I was taking a dog out for a potty break.
Just curious when the last time you’ve experienced something deeply unsettling.

i'm not sure if this is where this post belongs, and if it's not, please let me know so I can remove it and post it to the correct sub.
Three weeks ago, my father passed away after a long fight with cancer. I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to anything paranormal due to my religion and faith that I wouldn't say that it people leave the Earth immediately after death. I'm going to change my dad's name, but his nickname was something like papa dino for the sake of this post. Anyway, my son was not there and did not get to say goodbye to his papa dino which was sad, but also understandable because a two-year-old really shouldn't be hanging out in a hospital with someone that's sick. The day after my father passed, my son was laying down for a nap and out of nowhere he started just saying over and over again "papa dino papa dino papa dino". I hadn't even told my son about his grandfather passing and I was still processing it myself. I looked at the baby monitor and saw him looking straight up into the ceiling, saying the name over and over again. He then began singing a song that my father notoriously made fun of. My dad was a silly guy and liked making fun of the things that we enjoyed out of fun jest, never in a mean, or rude way.
My eyes filled with tears as I watched him, sing a song and say my father's nickname over and over again. I'm not sure if my father was actually there or if my son was just remembering Papa dino, who he had visited a week earlier, but either way it was a very kind moment. I like to believe that my father spirit came to say goodbye to the grandson he couldn't say goodbye to you. but you never know.

This happened when I was 20 years old (2012) and I’ll never forget it. I would love any thoughts or perspectives on this. This was in Utah, I was with my best friend, and we were sitting in her car. We were discussing what we were doing that night, parked somewhere, and about 35 to 40 m away, there was this forest area of trees directly in front of our view
So as we were sitting there talking, I saw this extremely tall skinny man walking out of the forest. He was on stilts, and I remember being like, why is he on stilts? Something about it felt supernatural. something was off about it, and I couldn’t make out what he was.
my friend was talking at that moment, but her words started slowing down, and she looked like she was in a trance looking at the same thing. By that point, I just got really scared because it started to feel real, and I was like “Carrie, what do you see right now???” and she answered in this slow innocent daze and said “a man on stilts“
And that scared me even more because I knew she was seeing the same thing I was. The man kept walking straight in the direction towards and then instantly became normal height in front of us without doing anything, and he disappeared into a crowd. and I was sitting there in the car freaking out, and Carrie was just quiet and in this trance, she never said anything about it. We never discussed it after.
I still think about it to this day.
Would really love any thoughts on this
