Experience I need some help!
Hi so I’m not too sure how to word this so I’ll just tell my story. For the past two years I’ve been experiencing seeing spirits. It started back in 2024 when I had come home from a long vacation and had seen a man staring at me through the archway of my living room. After that for about a month it was all noises. Foot steps when nobody was home, crashing sounds with nothing being broken, doors creaking when all of them were closed, that sort of stuff. I talked to my father about it as he is interested in that stuff and he gave me a blessed cross necklace and told me he felt that I was more susceptible to seeing ghosts and what not. Ever since that summer nothing much has happened, but I have had his feeling of unease whenever I was home alone. Almost like I was always being watched unless I was in my room. I do have severe anxiety though so I just atributed the paranoia to that.
No flash forward to last night. It was my birthday weekend and I had just gotten home from a tour of the Lizzie Borden house in Fall River. I’m not a believer in any sort of god or higher power and I am strictly athetist. That being said, the tour guard told us about different spirits living among the house and I honestly didn’t think much of it. I mean it’s a tourist attraction ag the end of the day, how are they gonna make money with out attracking people?
First off, in the drive there my mom frantically turned to me and told me she had seen her windshield wipers go off, just one time, and asked if I had seen it to. I was looking at my phone so I hadn’t seen it and we assumed it was just a malfunction in the car. Then on the way home it happened again, in the exact same spot. A feeling of unease came over the car and my mom even said it felt like they were saying hello and goodbye to us.
Now I’m home and asleep. I had practically knocked out when I hit my bed. Then I woke up at exactly 3:35am(I check the time on my phone). When I woke up I felt like someone was sleeping next to me, and like they were moving around in the bed behind me, like they were shuffling in their sleep almost. The night before my best friend had slept over and so in my disoriented state I figured it was her, but after I had woken up a bit I realized she obvisouly was not there. I start to freak out internally and wonder what the fuck is going on. Then, and I swear on everything I have ever loved, a girls voice said so loud and so clear “come cuddle with me” and laughed. I then her footsteps running out of my room and I heard nothing else. I obviously freaked the hell out and called my boyfriend. I ended up not falling asleep and staying on the phone the rest of the night and nothing happened.
Now I’m coming here to ask, what the hell do I do. I’ve saged by house per my dad’s request and am planning to put salt on the corners of the doors tomorrow, but I still feel so confused. I’m not so much wondering what I can do but how do I learn more about this? Is there a way I can coexist with this or am I just going to have these spirits following me the rest of my life. Any help is seriously appreciated, and in all honesty I am not interested in any religious talk so please don’t bring it here. Thank you everyone.

Your lack of belief in God may be contributing to your heightened paranormal encounters. If you're going to wear a blessed cross necklace, it's important to have some level of faith, or at least hope, in the existence of a higher power. From a Christian perspective, evil spirits may test a person's resolve, and without confidence in yourself and/or God, it can become a continuous struggle.

I didn’t mention it in my og post but I haven’t worn the necklace in like a year, for other reasons! But I see what your saying about them testing me and what not

Ive experienced something similar. In Missouri I lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere. It was the most haunted place Ive ever experienced. We had forks thrown across the room at us. We had chairs tossed from a bar across the basement. We would have what sounded like heavy boots stomping up and down the stairs. One night around 2am our bedroom door flew open so fast and hard that the door handle put a hole in our bedroom wall. I have so many terrifying stories from that house.

To learn more, go see the ghosts subreddit. Adding that to your algorithm will open other subreddits.
Also check the mediums subreddit. That practice could be useful for you as well. You can learn how to deal with spirits and ghosts, and how to control them.
And keep wearing your cross.
I hope this helps.

You can try Palo Santo instead of sage. Sage is a smudging tool used to reset the energy in the home. Palo Santo focuses on negative energy while allowing the positive energy to remain. If you used sage, you may have completely reset the energy in your home but didn't necessarily get anything to leave. When you use Palo Santo, you want to repeat a mantra of sorts that focuses on your intent of using it. For example, try repeating something like, "This is my home. Only positivity, light, and love are welcome in my home. Any negative energy is not welcome here and must leave." You have to make sure that you are speaking with conviction and confidence and don't second guess yourself.
I always suggest using the Palo Santo more than once. Do it a couple of days in a row and then once a week for a few weeks until you're confident that you've removed any negative or unwanted energy. You need to feel empowered so you know that you do have control over things in your life, even if you can't see them. Make sure you cover every area with the smoke and that you leave a door open that you can "push" the negative energy out of. I like to start in the far corner of a room and then walk backwards while covering the whole area with the smoke and your intent.
I do suggest that you look up a few videos on YouTube of tutorials on how best to do it that you are most comfortable with because I don't think there is only one way. Again, it's all about your confidence, conviction, and comfort in what you are doing. If you find yourself thinking, "this isn't gonna work" or "what am I doing?" take a deep breath, get your confidence back and start over so your confidence leaves its mark in every part of the home.
I understand that your father gave you the blessed cross but if you don't have any faith in it, it won't work as intended. I don't think telling someone to use a religious belief they don't have faith in is the right way to go. That's just my opinion but if you use a tool that you aren't confident in, the tool won't work the way it will for others. Plus, I don't think it's respectful to push personal religious beliefs onto others.
Positivity, light, and love are tools that can be used universally with any belief system and are something we can benefit from even if there's nothing paranormal going on.
Another thing you can do is set your boundaries. Make a proclamation while in your home and feeling that feeling of being watched or raised anxiety saying basically the same thing as what you'd repeat while using Palo Santo but also include that nothing there is allowed to affect you physically, mentally, or spiritually. You're setting boundaries verbally with something you can't see the same way you would do it with someone you can who is standing right in front of you.
Besides setting your boundaries, don't make any attempts to communicate or even acknowledge anything that may be there.
People who are more open to the spirit world look like a lighthouse in a dark ocean to spirits. That could be why you picked up a stray from somewhere. It could tell that you can see it, etc, so it is making more of an effort to make its presence known. Remember that just because you may be more open to the spirit world doesn't mean you are obligated to interact with them. You have aithority over yourself and can make the decision that you aren't going to interact with them and there's nothing wrong with that. To help you close yourself off to everything, I've found that taking time out of your day to do some controlled breathing and meditate while picturing something that means "closed" to you.
Personally, if I need to shut my mind off to communication and activity, I picture something I used to see in cartoons all of the time, which is when a bank vault is being closed and the character closes a bunch of doors one after the other that gradually get bigger until the final vault door that swings closed and the wheel on it spins simulating a locking of that door. Then I will picture a closed sign that you see on the doors of businesses. That is something you will have to practice with and find what you are most familiar with so it easy to picture.
I had to write this in 2 parts. Sorry it's so long. Just wanted to cover everything I could for you! I'll put part 2 and that link in the replies to this comment.

Another few things that can help promote positive energy in your home are natural light and live plants. They physically make a space feel better, so I think they would naturally make the energy in a space feel better as well.
I think that the natural light and live plants make sense scientifically as to why they lighten a space and make them feel more positive. If there is any clutter, that can promote negative energy and anxiety both naturally and spiritually. It's hard for a person's mind to rest when there is a lot of clutter and/or chaos in their life. That may not apply to you but I wanted to include it just in case. We are a product of our environment, minds included. If our environment promotes positive energy, we don't have as much anxiety and can rest easier. (I'm saying this while I'm sitting here unable to sleep. Lol) Sometimes, I'm not the best at applying my advice to others to my own life. We're all human. None of us are perfect and none of us know everything, especially about the paranormal and spirit world.
Something that people who have abilities or are more open to the spirit world may have the ability to do is create something called a PK manifestation or psychokinetic manifestation. I'll reply to this comment with a link that explains that because I'm not sure if they're allowed in this sub and don't want to lose this whole comment. The jist of it is some people can hold in and don't process their grief, stress, trauma, anxiety, etc, and unintentionally create an energy that becomes intelligent and then pushes those emotions back onto the person who created it or other people in the home. It isn't a common thing, but it is a possibility and I just want to cover everything for you. The link is only a page and half and isn't as wordy as I am. Haha! I think there's some valuable information in there that someone else may like as well so I like to share it when I can.
I want to include this final part because I think making sure you check the boxes to debunk things is important as well. Some things I've already touched on with the clutter and chaos being a catalyst of natural anxiety. Other possible reasons for the feeling of being watched, high anxiety, and even hearing or seeing paranormal activity can be exposure to high EMF (electrical panels, big appliances, old wiring, power lines, and more can put off electromagnetic energy that can cause symptoms similar to paranormal activity when exposed to it. Some people are more sensitive to it than others). Another is sound waves that may not be audible to the human ear, like a low vibration from a fan sitting on a shelf, etc, or a low humming from a stereo receiver being on, an old TV or monitor, and even a PC that is left on and vibrating just enough to create a sound wave that we can't hear but our bodies and minds can still react to. If you are extra sensitive to any of those things, that may be what's causing this new uneasy feeling and hearing what you're hearing. You can also get a vertigo or funhouse effect type feeling from having uneven floors, or walking around in a new place with uneven or soft floors. Going from walking around on them to a space you are more familiar with can cause it and you can get like random flashbacks to that feeling at times since you weren't familiar with it but had to adjust to it when taking that tour. The last thing that I personally hate because of how rare it is but how often I see people say it is to check your carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are still working.
People on Reddit love to use Carbon monoxide as a debunk for people's experiences but they don't mention the fact that hallucinations are the last symptom before someone goes unconscious and it becomes fatal. Plus, your experiences started outside of your home so I don't think it's anything you have to worry about unless there's a possibility that the car you were in had an exhaust leak but the chances of being in a car with an exhaust leak and having a gas leak in your home are so low you'd be the most unlucky person ever. Lol!
The last thing I'd suggest to you is to keep a journal of what you were doing when you experienced something. Write down everything you can remember about it, including the weather, what you were thinking about, talking about, watching or listening to, what you were eating, doing, etc, etc. If you have multiple experiences that you're able to log in the journal, you may find a pattern of what's triggering the experiences and possibly even notice a natural explanation.
I've done private cases for a bunch of people and what I just suggested to you is everything I suggest to them before taking any further steps. In a lot of cases, the person remedies the unwanted activity themselves or figures out a natural explanation for it. I do it strictly on a volunteer basis and have helped people who had many different personal religious belief systems as well as people who weren't religious at all. The last thing you'll catch me doing is suggesting anything that I know the person does not believe in. I think that's not only the most respectful but also the most effective way to approach it.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm happy to help any way i can. I'm not an expert nor do I think I know everything about the paranormal. All of the information I've shared with you are things I've learned from personal experiences and from people in the field who are much more experienced than me that I've been fortunate enough to work with. If something comes up that I don't know, I'm not going to bs you with a made up answer but I will pick the minds of other people to see if I can get an answer for you.
I hope you can take something from what I said and use it to better your situation. Some things work better than others for people. Every case is different because we are all different in our own ways. Most importantly, I hope you can keep positivity, light, and love in your life and use it as best you can.
Best wishes to you!

You can get a Catholic priest to bless your house and get rid of the thing that's bothering you. You don't have to be religious or a believer for it to work. Like calling an exterminator, you don't have to know what product he's using or endorse it, it just works. Seems like you may have brought back something from your trip. I also don't recommend going to any haunted or tragic houses.

I would think after 550,000 child molestation cases, one more mass payment settlement just recently, that people would start to avoid the pedo church that murdered people for 600 years in the past. What part of, THIS IS the evil incarnate is unclear about that sick bunch? If anything is evil on this planet, that messed up church is the poster child for it.

Please give your life to Jesus, I never encountered these sprits but many have, I lived my life in sin and apart from God and now I REALLY regretting it. My life has gone to complete hell and further more, eternal hell awaits me. The ONLY thing that can protect you from a terrible fait and more attacks is surrendering your life to Jesus.

Drink the blood, eat the flesh, yet nobody shows the promised powers or any holy anything from this fake belief system. What part of respecting the OP's request for NO religious BS didn't you get? Oh, that's right, you are forced to spread it like the brain cancer it is.

Ok, I stopped reading after the necklace part. You need to get a psychic medium in your home to find out what is going on. You seem to have an active something… I don’t want to label anything, but I believe that this is your best bet. I am a sensitive medium but you need a psychic medium.

I've dealt with them personally for my whole life. The truth is in the unchanged ancient tora, and Enoch but you won't receive it. That wasn't actually a little girl. It was the watchers. They have legal rights to you through your unbelief, as an open door. Just wait till they start touching you. 90% of Christianity has been twisted, changed, and preverted. Christians don't even know the real history. The majority of them, and they judge others are hateful and lead people astray. It's understandable why people are put off by religion because they made it into something It's not. I promise you salt and sage won't do the trick. None of that will work. When you get tired of dealing with them, come back to me. They used to have access to me, but I have starved them now.

You can certainly coexist. If nothing bad has happened up to now, I would assume you have some kind of skill that is unfolding? You can just try communicating, see if there's something you can do for them, or if they are just bored, or trying to connect, etc.
Fear and superstition are the cornerstone for most religious BS. So treat whatever is going on with respect and patience, and see what unfolds. There are a number of experiments you can do to see if you are the only one seeing this. My advice would be to go all scientific on the matter, and see what you can prove or disprove about these experiences.

If you read up on demons try people also worship angels and demons, goetian and whatever.
You call them superstitions but when it comes to sports that beliefs transcends time and continents. How do people that have never interacted have similar stances on what is spiritual in the realm of paranormal? Natives, the major religions , etc?
