We've been getting an influx of people just asking "I want a pc what's a good build"? While we're glad you came here for help and would love to give it, we need more info! So here's how to help us help you to put together a great build partlist.

Things to include: Budget- Include how much you're willing to spend on the build.

Usage Scenario- What you're going to be using the PC for. Examples are: light gaming, productivity, professional usage, high end compute, etc. Also, if gaming, state which resolution.

Specific touches- What you WANT on your build. Make it yours! Things like form factor, color scheme, lighting (RGB for days), and other things you'd like help with.

Thanks, and feel free to add things!

Couple notes, I plan on getting TTC Frozen Silent V2 switches for the keyboard, haven't decided on keycaps (maybe some dark souls 3 themed keycaps). The cooler comes with its own fan/RGB controller, and I wanted the best mic I could find that was ready out the box cause I'll never need/want an XLR.

Troubleshooting New PC build, left it running GTA V for ≈14 hours to test it and came back to "Event 41, kernel power". Is this a concern?

I built a PC with MSI RTX 3050, Ryzen 5 5500, Machinist B450, CUSU 2×8GB 3200MHz, LUX 650W and TB NVMe. It passed Superposition and Furmark. And in OCCT, i ran the combined test of CPU, CPU+RAM, 3D adaptive and Vram. Also ran OCCT power test and everything was fine. For the final test, I ran GTA V legacy on ultra settings at 1440p overnight and until about the 12th hour everything was fine. But I came back around the 14th hour and it looked like the PC restarted by itself, with both GTA and Afterburner closed and found this error in event viewer. The next day, I ran GTA V on same settings for the same period and it was fine. Temperature is also good. What's the issue?

Part List Help Help with GPU choice, First-time Builder.

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey everyone, Im in the final stretch for building my PC and needed some help with the GPU.

I made a post a few days ago and the GOAT Snoo25477 gave me a parts list with great advice, but unfortunately the GPU he recommended was sold out, and I'm a little impatience. So I was hoping for an alternative that can still be in line with everything else he recommended.

Some questions I have is do I have to get a new GPU if I upgrade my CPU + MOBO + RAM? And Is it better to buy more or upgrade memory?

CPU + MOBO + RAM: Core Ultra 5 250K Plus+Gigabyte B860+ gskill s5 32gb ddr5 dual stick

Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin

Memory: WD_BLACK SN770 M.2 2280 1TB

Case: MONTECH HS01, ATX Mid-Tower PC Case

Then upgrade in the following years to

(Year 2) Core Ultra 7 270K Plus+Gigabyte Z890+ gskill s5 32gb ddr5 dual stick

(Year 3) Ryzen 7 7800X3D+ASUS B650+gskill x5 32gb ddr5 dual stick

The budget is 300-600

Completed Build PC build: AM5 9700X + RX 9060 XT 16GB (~$2,000 USD) — Sanity check needed!

Hey everyone,

I'm putting together a desktop primarily for PC gaming, light game development (Unity & Godot), light 3D work (Blender), and general coding/tinkering.

(Note: I am purchasing locally in India, so all prices below are converted from local currency to USD)

Context & Why I'm Moving to PC:

- Current Setup: I currently have a PS5 connected to an LG OLED C5 55" for living room AAA titles, an ASUS ROG Ally (Z2A version bought for ~$715) for older/indie/2D titles, and a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro for general productivity. My desk currently has a basic 24" 1080p IPS monitor (LG UltraGear).

- Why the switch: Between rising console physical disc prices ($60–$70+ each), recurring subscription costs for games I don't own, and zero mod support, console gaming has felt increasingly restrictive. Playing modded titles on the Ally (like Sekiro Resurrection) showed me how much better the PC ecosystem is.

- Desktop over Handheld/Laptop: High-end handhelds run upwards of $1,400+; at that price point, spending ~$1,600–$2,000 for an upgradeable desktop makes far more sense. I'm a full-time professional and get maybe an hour on weekdays, but I want a solid, future-proof rig to tinker with long-term.

- Budget Target: Initially aimed for ~$1,600, but current market pricing (especially RAM) pushes it to ~$2,000 USD (including UPS).

---

The Build:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X (8C/16T, 65W) — ~$295

- Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WIFI6E ATX AM5 — ~$175

- GPU: Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9060 XT OC 16GB — ~$620

- RAM: Patriot Viper Venom 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL36 — ~$515

- Storage: Corsair MP600 PRO NH 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 TLC w/ DRAM — ~$185

- CPU Cooler: Deepcool AG620 G2 ARGB Dual-Tower — ~$30

- Power Supply: Deepcool PN750M 750W 80+ Gold (ATX 3.0 / PCIe 5.0) — ~$80

- Cabinet: MSI MAG FORGE 320R AIRFLOW (4 pre-installed ARGB fans) — ~$50

- UPS: CyberPower UT1200E 1200VA / 720W — ~$50

Total: ~2K USD

---

Questions I Need Help With:

  1. Regional Retailer Experience: For anyone ordering in South Asia / India, has anyone had recent experience ordering from Ads Store or Computech Store regarding shipping reliability, packaging, and warranty invoices?
  2. RAM Pricing Strategy: Given the severe DDR5 memory price crunch right now, does it make sense to bite the bullet on 32GB (2x16GB) upfront, or start with 1x 16GB 6000MHz and add a matching stick later? How noticeable is single-channel DDR5 for Unity/Godot compile times?
  3. GPU Choice (AMD vs. Nvidia): Is the 9060 XT 16GB solid for Unity/Godot viewports and light Blender, or does the lack of CUDA/OptiX make stretching for an Nvidia card (like an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB) practically mandatory for game dev?
  4. Cooler & Case Clearance: The MSI Forge 320R lists a max CPU cooler height of 160mm, while the AG620 cooler is 157mm. Since the Viper Venom RAM has a moderate heatsink (~43mm), will raising the front fan over the RAM cause it to collide with the tempered glass panel?
  5. Display & Framerate Target: Since I have an LG 55" OLED C5 in the house, I'll likely hook the PC up to the TV for casual/story titles with a controller, and keep the 24" 1080p monitor for coding/desktop dev work for now (upgrading later). I don't play competitive esports and am completely fine with 60–90 FPS. Does targeting 60–90 FPS change your thoughts on Questions #2 and #3? PS5 will continue to be plugged to C5. I am okay with a lower build right now and the upgrading both GPU and Monitor together later.

Appreciate any constructive criticism or tweaks before purchasing!
