news r/OregonCoast has a New Rules section, new flair, new banner, etc. Also, new accounts are now restricted from posting.
Please review the new rules section. It's mostly a more formal version of the previous rules, however, language has been added about lazy "itinerary" posts, and spamming sunset/landscape photos for instant karma.
There has been a marked increase in low-effort posts, stolen photos for easy karma, and trolling, so new accounts are now restricted from posting.

After 8 years, the Oregon Coast continues to amaze me!
I've been going over to the coast nearly once a month for the past 8 years and this (Oct 24th) was one of the best sunsets I've seen.
A rare occasion to have such a beautiful sunset line up with peak low (slack) tide on the bay to have such a smooth mirror effect.
Bonus: I got a Dungie keeper from shore crabbing as well

Local, trustworthy movers that can help my disabled dad - Lincoln City
He needs to move a cluttered house of stuff into a storage unit a few miles down the highway.
This isn’t one show up, move fast, and go. He’s older and disabled and particular. He needs someone who is caring and can move what he needs and leave what he wants to stay. (Ultimately, he’s preparing to sell a home he can no longer live in comfortably.)
Thank you so much for any leads. I’m out of state right now and my heart is breaking as he keeps hurting himself trying to move it all by himself.

Moving to Yachats and No USPS? No PO Boxes available either. What do you do?
Yes, I value and always do everything in my power to buy local, but there ar many things that ar not local for me and I rely on online purchase, most of which us USPS. I assume this will be even more of a need on the coast. Since USPS does not deliver, and the post office has a wait list for PO boxes, what do I do? The post office doesnt even have a working telephone so I cannot ask them directly and the website is a national one. Thanks to anyone who has figured this out (or not) and walking me through this.

Oregon SPPE
Hi all. I'm looking for an Oregon attorney willing to supervise me through the Oregon SPPE
Foreign-trained lawyer, 8 years of practice (litigation and advisory experience)
California immigration consultant since 2022 (U.S. immigration experience)
Oregon State Bar confirmed my SPPE pre-eligibility and I
Passed MPRE
Any advice on how to get an Oregon supervising attorney will be appreciated. Thank you.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse
Taken in July. I was so enamored with this place. The lighthouse is so stark. The cobblestone beach by the tide pools was unlike any other beach I’d seen before. Also, be mindful of rolling your ankle if you get down there.

Water is falling from the skies! Hope it's enough to get cranberry harvesting going and end fire season!

Explosion in Newport?
A friend who lives on the bay front just had to evacuate her house due to ammonia fumes from some kind of explosion in or near Newport’s harbor. Does anyone know any details? Big smoke plume, tons of fire trucks on site apparently but nobody seems to know other details. Hoping nobody was hurt.

Seaside webcam
Anyone know what happened the Seaside webcam? It was down for a few days and now it’s totally removed from the KOIN webcam listing. I sure enjoyed watching the sunsets thru it. Please don’t say it’s gone forever!

This is a photo of a harbor seal (I believe) from my trip to the coast in July 2026. Taken near the tide pools by Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Hope you enjoy!

Seasonal Job
Update: Reading through the responses has been informative, in both good & negative ways. The kind & informative comments from those who took their time to respond are invaluable & we thank you for them.
For those who offered such vocal criticisms, they should revisit Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story" & ask themselves "what don't I know." This 21 y/o has been the full time caregiver of an elderly person with dementia for the past 2 years. If you've done it, you know how hard it is. If you haven't done it, you have no idea how exhausting it is. Those "grown ass man" moments of being out with friends, enjoying a weekend camping, etc., don't happen when you are a caregiver. He will finally have an opportunity to step away for a few months.
OP: We have a 21 y/o that wants to get a seasonal job on the north coast this year. Any suggestions on finding housing for him? What jobs would be the best shot at getting hired? He'd prefer something like janitor or evening/nights. Has experience working at a truck stop & doing trucker manifests.
