Legal Question ⚖️ Can I SBS my grandpas shotgun?
Hey everyone, question for you. My grandfather passed away a few years ago and left me with his modest collection of firearms. Among the beautiful collection is an H&R single shot Pardner. It’s one of the shotguns of all time. Worth maybe 200 dollars at most, likely a lot less.
I want to cut the barrel down to the forend so maybe I can enjoy it instead of letting it collect dust, but it’s not registered to me or anything like that. Do I need to get the gun transferred to me through an FFL, or can I just submit an F1 and get to slicing?
I’m a little worried about trying to submit a dead man’s shotgun to the ATF, not to mention we were not blood related. My state has laws around NFA items so I’ll have to register it to avoid being prosecuted out and about.
