Doeren leaves NC State 'with no grudges,' will always be rooting for Wolfpack
Say what you will about his coaching, but Dave was a stand-up guy who loves his players and loves his school

I'm currently a junior majoring in Computer Science, and I have about 1.5 semesters left before graduating.
With all the layoffs happening across tech, especially at companies like Microsoft, Oracle, and Meta, I've been thinking a lot about what I should be doing while I'm still in college to prepare myself for the job market.
I'm already getting some industry experience, and have a RO lined up, but I'm wondering if I should consider picking up a minor, learning something outside of traditional software engineering, or focusing on a particular specialization.
I've also noticed more conversations about data centers, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity, and I'm curious whether these are areas worth exploring.
For those already working in the industry, what would you recommend to a CS student who's getting close to graduation?
Would you pursue a minor, focus on certifications, develop skills in another area, or just stick with CS and keep building experience?
I'm not necessarily trying to switch majors. I just want to make the most of the time I have left and give myself more options after graduation.

Does anyone have any information regarding what is going on with Sigma Nu? The WRAL article was really vague!

Professor Chen is the only one teaching this class next semester, but he has a 1.9 on rate my professor. Anyone who has taken this class online or in person, which one do you recommend?

I am currently in the engineering first year program, and I plan on trying to CODA into the ChemE department. From what I’ve heard PY205 is extremely hard here, and I was wondering if I should take it online at a community college. I don’t know if I should take it online though because I learn best in person, and I would not be able to do that at a community college. I know physics is one of the biggest parts of engineering, so I didn’t know if I should take it here so I could learn the material better and how they want to do it or if I should take it online to make it easier on myself. I also wanted to know how important it would be to know the stuff from both PY205 and maybe even PY208 for future CHE classes, because I would not want to mess up future understandings of potential concepts.

I found an ~8wk old kitten in the engine of a truck yesterday (she is okay!). I think she was dumped by someone because no one has claimed her and she seems much too friendly to be feral. I've been taking care of her since, and she is very sweet, but I don't think it's going to work out for me to keep her long-term.
I've called 6 rescues now and none of them are taking cats. Another one wants a $700 donation to maybe take her. I've been to the county shelter and the conditions there are really miserable so that is a last resort.
Does anyone know any leads I can pursue? Ideally we can find someone to just adopt her, but it would be almost as good to find someone who will foster her.

I graduated a few years ago, but I always appreciated the free music studios in both libraries and the computers that could be used to edit video.
I also borrowed DSLR cameras from the library and had a fun, free photography/videography hobby, helping shoot music videos for artists in the area.
I borrowed an Oculus Rift and tried VR for the first time. Shit was awesome.
There's so much cool shit you can borrow for free and just mess around with. But I'm sure I missed out on some. So what else is out there?

Hey all, Cal fan coming in peace. I’m looking for the score to the fight song. I’m an active member of the Calgorithm on Twitter and I make 8 bit NES versions of the fight song for whoever our opponent for the week is. Any current/former band members have it or know who I should ask? I’m happy to post the finished product here when I’m done. Thanks for your help. Go Pack and Go Bears.

Hi, I’m not sure if this is far-fetched. Does anyone have a 5’10- 6ft Master’s in Computer Science regalia for this upcoming graduation?

There's some sort of "carnival" with games and food setting up near Talley, anybody know what for?

I've had a rough first semester grade wise as a non-thesis MSME student. What are your guy's thoughts on these two in the Spring as GPA boosters? Any advice to help a worried student is much appreciated.

Are calculators allowed in MA 341? I'm wondering if we can use basic calculators (non-programmable and non-graphing). Which profs allow non-graphing calculators for MA 341?

Hey! I've gotta take CSC216 next semester, but with the way my schedule is set up one of my classes on main ends at 11:25 and 216 starts at 11:45 on centennial meaning I've gotta take the bus.
I have Heckman down currently since I've heard she's a great professor, but I may have to change that considering travel time. My other two options are Satyavolu or online (distance edu) and Im leaning towards distance education.
Does anyone know how 216 is online? If it's bad, should stick with Heckman and be late to class or go with the other professor (who i haven't heard too great things about)?

Hello! Has anyone taken EC 202 with Daisoon Kim? I was thinking about taking this class because it works better with my schedule. There’s only one review on RMP and it’s a 1/5 stars. No gradient available either.

Extremely random but the athletics program makes protein balls for their athletes in one of the facilities. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about these since I had them and I really want to make them 🥲🥲
Any chance any one has any connection? Do you think if I called and asked they’d give the recipe?
