Serious Still not over this…
It feels like the world has moved on, but I think about her all of the time. I will never purchase another Neutrogena product for the rest of my life

This week is Fall ~SPiRiT WEEK*~ at my toddler’s daycare. Tomorrow is “Decades Day: Dress up to your favorite decade!”
Like this child hasn’t even lived a mf decade, let alone know what a decade means. I’m not trying to knock daycare ~*SPiRiT WEEK~ altogether (although I certainly don’t think there needs to be four a year…), but this whole “favorite decade” concept just seems absurd for the age group. I guess it’s not as uninspired as this week’s “Apple Day: Dress head to toe in your favorite apple color,” but at least the kid has a favorite apple color!
In any event, we are trying to be good sports and participate. I refuse, however, to purchase a new outfit for these shenanigans, so Popped Collar 2000’s Toddler it is!
He’s too young for a puka shell necklace, but it’s getting cold out there so I think we’ll go for a double pop (yikes!). Any other suggestions to round his look out?!

South Park probably contributed to the dark humour, too.

Spent so many road trips listening to this. What a blast from the past. Totally forgot this existed.

I swear the summer air smelled better back in the 90s as a teenager.

44/m here, why is it watching 2000s emo reels of dudes reacting to songs at concerts gets me too? Is it cuz when the song came out it reminds you of a simpler time or are you sad/happy cuz it hits that was a peak moment that youll never get back?

I'm 37 kids in discussion are 10 and almost 8. Over the weekend we were talking about influencers and their antics. My 10 yo showed me a video of two guys trying to eat an ice cream cone in 3 bites and tells me she thinks this is why girls live longer. I laughed because all I could think of is what her reaction is going to be when I tell her about Jackass. When I explained it to them they were shocked! They kept saying how dangerous it is to act that way knowing kids are watching. I explained adults didn't care about our safety or mental wellbeing back then like they do now. They were complaining about Halloween specials for kids and how they aren't scary enough so I found Are you Afraid of the Dark and offered to put it on for them. They swore it wouldn't be scary because it's made for kids. I played a random episode and within 10 mins they were begging for me to turn it off. My 8 yo loves folklore and cryptids(he has a stuffed mothman he carries everywhere) he has just discovered creepypastas and was telling me about them and now it's crazy that stuff like that is on the Internet and asked if we had anything scary when I was a kid. I told him yes, we had rotten.com and vaguely told him what was on it. He looked at me shocked and asked me how we were on the dark web and we didn't get arrested.
I have now found it incredibly entertaining to tell my kids what the early 2000s was like because its horrifying to them yet they are equally jealous that they don't get any of the crazy stuff we had because their parents know better.
What's more "lore" I can tell them to freak them out about being a millennial child/teen.

Less than half the frosting. This used to be packed full and we'd all use our fingers to clean the rest out 😢
Edit: spelling

‘85er here. Unsure when I first saw this, but it stuck itself to the side of one of my brain ridges and never let go…
For over three decades I’ve randomly blurted out the line “AS HE LEADS THE WAY EVERYTHING IS A-OK” and have whistled the tune endlessly. I know the melody is some old war-timey or military tune, but it has truly lived the definition of rent-free in my head since sometime when TVs had only 20 channels. Hope this unlocks some deep-rooted memories!

Seltzer water really fell off, but it was everywhere in the 2010s. I never stopped. Still drinking several cans of Polar a day.

Holy crap. I decided to revisit a couple of albums that i listened to from late 90s and they are... Poetic, but goddam so unacceptable today.
Bloodhound gang: use your fingers - im singing along to the lyrics and thinking if i did this in public, jail
Next up: presidents of the usa, title album - man this is so good. Candy, lump, old man on the back porch (i can see this being me).
Anyone else listen to this in the 90s?

All the shit about avocado toast, getting fired at work, and getting participation trophies.
Good times.

It first started in high school in the early 2000's. It was every year in pretty much every computer lab that we'd get on Microsoft word and excel. And then I took classes in my 20's for MOUS certification. Hell, in one program we even learned Access. Now when running into an error on Excel I have to ask Gemini what to do. I forgot most of what I learned! It also occurred to me that learning these programs was super important in my youth, and my parents were even taking workshops on how to use MS Word.
Looking back that all seems like a big waste of time with AI on the horizon taking over office work. But sometimes I get nostalgic thinking about all the little shortcuts we used to fiddle around with to make a fancy table.
Some of you might work in the trades and have no use for any of this but still had to sit through learning the software. We all had to write essays. Remember to set it to double space to make it look longer. ;)
