…and you can’t convince me otherwise.
They’re always driving around at all hours of the day and night with an empty backseat.
And before you say, "Oh, maybe they’re on their way to pick someone up," no, they’re not because there are always three of them within a few minutes of each other, all heading the exact same way.
I’ve literally only seen someone inside one once. At spots where everyone’s waiting for an Uber, like the airport or the brightline station, I never see Waymos picking anyone up.
I also never see police cars patrolling anywhere anymore, except outside grocery stores and crowded events.
Does anyone actually use Waymo?

According to Brian McNoldy, U Miami's local expert, "The high tide on Tuesday morning was definitely historic. I can confidently say that it was easily the highest tide in Miami’s history that didn’t involve a hurricane." The primary reasons for this historic high tide are the October King Tide being amplified by strong NE winds that pushes ocean water toward the coast and the added water from rainfall. Be careful near the coast during the next few days.

I have seen a lot of posts about how hard it is to make friends as an adult, and believe me I have been there too so I completely understand. I want to share something that helped me!
A while back a small group of us started getting together regularly to go to the movies. What started as a few friends hanging out turned into something bigger, a real community of people across South and Central Florida who share a love for film and just wanted people to do things with on weekends.
We go to screenings together, do a group debrief after, occasionally cosplay, plan dinner before and activities after. It started as a movie thing but honestly it’s become more of a friend group at this point. We’ve had members meet at events and become genuine friends which is rare in Miami.
Not trying to spam or self promote just genuinely think there are people here who might be looking for exactly this kind of thing and don’t know it exists.
Miami has such a great film culture and it feels underutilized.
Happy to answer any questions about how it works or what our events and meetups look like. Always open to connecting with more Miami locals who love movies!

Hey everyone! I’m a 27-year-old doctor who recently moved to Miami. I live in Kendall and would love to meet new people and build some friendships here.
I’m interested in pickleball, soccer, running, hiking, tennis, squash and racquetball. I also enjoy watching movies and going out, so I’d be happy to hang out or try something new together.
I’m open to meeting people from all backgrounds. If you’re also looking to make friends or know of any free local groups, feel free to comment or send me a message!

Hi Everyone! I am just sharing a great
opportunity to become educated about what’s on the ballots for the upcoming election this November.
Las Rosas had a similar event last week and it was a great turnout, great topics were discussed. Feel free to share with your community!
*I have zero affiliation with Las Rosas

My partner (M33) has been at Maimi UTower Hospital for almost 2 months now. While I've felt the care here is great, they're discussing plans to potentially move him to an LTACH facility as he's getting better. I don't live locally and have a lot of bad experiences with rehab type places back home in Palm Beach County so I'm hesitant and suspicious of so many of these facilities and I don't trust their reps as far as I can throw them.
So, I'd like to weigh my options and see what other people's experiences have been.
So far Select Specialty in Miami Lakes and Kindred Hospital in Coral Gables are the first LTACH facilities that have sent reps to talk to me. After doing my own research and reading a ton of reviews I feel like I need to drop Kindred completely off the list, but the jury is still out on Select.
I had someone from PT here mention that they thought that Jackson had an LTACH facility, but the social worker doesn't think so.
I'd love to hear people's opinions and thought on Select and Kindred as well as any other LTACHs they felt were good in the Miami area.
Despite not being from Miami, I would like to stay in the area for two main reasons: one being that I don't want my partner to have to take a nearly 2hr long ambulance ride to be transferred closer to our home and the other being that I'd prefer to keep him close to his doctors at uHealth.
A little info about things that are important to me when looking for facilities:
My partner is a complex patient with a lot going on and would be coming to them on a ventilator with a trach with the goal of being taken off the vent and gaining enough strength to allow him to get his cancer resection surgery. He would also be coming to them with a stage 4 pressure wound so I'm very worried about it getting worse and/or getting infected. He is young and has a strong will to get better and take care of himself so he's got that going for him, but I refuse to put him in a place that won't take proper care of him or neglect him in ways that will land him back in the ICU.

Hello all,
Me and my wife are moving back to South Florida next February. We wanted to hear those who live, lived or know someone who lived in ParkLine downtown. We’re considering the building for the easy bright-line access.
Thank you in advance!

I try to go on walks in the evenings and am looking for some recommendations of specific neighborhoods/areas to catch good Halloween decorations this week. Thanks!

Now I have lived in the mid west before for about 10 years but have lived much longer in Miami.
Living in the Midwest made me realize that if the average person is friendly, the entire city is a much better place to live in, which was a stark difference from Miami.
I say that to ask this. When it comes to dating and let’s say there was a bad communication issue or a situation where there is a minor annoyance or disrespect which may be indirectly.
you have the option to give the person reasonable doubt, always in both cities. But where should you be less forgiving about it and where should you be more forgiving about it?
In the Midwest I felt pretty comfortable with it because where I was living was the friendliest people I’d ever been around in general (this is still a large city, not a small town). So I feel like giving them a second or even a third chance depending on the severity of what has happened, is less risky when the average person is nicer then they are in Miami.
I have by default been giving people the benefit of the doubt in Miami but after experiences throughout my life I wonder if I should be much stricter BECAUSE of the quality of people in Miami being much lower.
Should I be playing this tighter as in if they communicate bad and you talk to them once about it and they do it again they’re out? Or if you just notice they communicate bad move on without even saying anything and then if they reach out tell them hey the way you communicate it’s just not for me.
It does mean you will burn through people quicker in general, a lot quicker. But what I’m wondering is does that mean you’ll get to the quality person faster than giving people more then the benefit of the doubt?
I only question this because it’s been my default, to be kind and optimistic but I’m beginning to think it’s not a good idea in Miami. It feels like it’s not as good an idea as it is in Denver.
What do you all Miamians out there think? I want to hear from both women and men.

Hey Miami. I’m about to be. first time mom and I’m looking for doula recommendations. I’ll be delivering at Jackson memorial. Would love to hear from others who had a positive experience with a local doula to help me narrow my search. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I’m expecting a baby in early June and looking for an experienced overnight postpartum doula in the Miami/Coral Gables area. We’re hoping to have help for at least three months, possibly longer.
I’d love personal recommendations for someone you’ve used and had a great experience with! If you’re comfortable sharing their rates and how many nights a week they worked with you, that would be helpful too. Thank you!

There was this place that existed where you could take a date and book a room with a massage table and jacuzzi and small bed. Know it sounds kinky but was wondering if anything like this exists in South Florida or any similar recommendations.

Yes, and let's refrain from any comments on how Miami lacks intellectulism. I know it's no NYC, Boston or Chicago, but it does exist here, one just has to seek it out. 🙃
I've been living in Miami for 6 years, lived 3 years in South Beach, which I did love, but hated the transient nature of it (tourists/snowbirds) so wanted something more local. So now, I have lived in Edgewater for 3 years, and while I love it, it's getting so over built, congested, and the high-rises everywhere are not my style. It truly feels like it's becoming Brickell Jr. in it's built environment and the type of people that are moving to Edgewater which I don't like at all.
I'm very active in the outdoors, like walkable neighborhoods/areas that are more human scale (meaning not as many high rises), I want to still be in a predominant Latino neighorhood, with a place that offers more cultural/intellecutal events and activities. I like areas that are vibrant meaning you see people out walking, but I don't need or want it to be too crazy with people everywhere like Brickell, downtown or Wynwood. Like I go to book stores a lot, read a lot, and like to attend literary events at places like Books & Books. I also write a lot. But also a bit of gym guy and like running outside, hanging outside, big on coffee shops and happy hours too.
41, gay, professional and work from home. So in six months, my lease is up and starting to think of other places to go to. So far I have narrowed it down to: Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, South Miami and maybe Shenandoah? Any suggestions or thoughts that would be good fits and where I can find more like-minded people like me?
