SDS has a large library of Topps Flashback card art, over 3,400. The cards are from specific years and fall into the All-Star, Breakout, Veteran, Standout, Rookie, Second Half, and Last Ride series. No stats are attached to any of them that I can see. They have had this bank as far back as 2022 to my knowledge.
This could be a bank for future games. Only about 4.5% of this art appears in DD this year, so there’s a lot players haven’t seen yet. Some players are redundant.
Mike Trout is a good example, he has over ten cards in the library, seven of them All-Star. You wouldn’t want to release all ten at once, but what if SDS released 3 or 4 Flashbacks per year, each with different attributes and splits?
If SDS released even 15% to 20% of the library each year, players would get a lot of variety per player, and the Topps art would finally get the spotlight it deserves. It could also make standard packs more interesting again. Imagine bronze, silver, and gold Flashback cards regularly mixed into packs, like a second live series running alongside the main one.
What would you want to see them do with these? I personally would like to see a removal of attributes to 125 and go back to 99, and then add a ton more cards and see these replace cards like award series, summer series, etc. This library has over 900 All-Star cards alone, with only 50 in DD this year!
