Is there even hope for a newer casual player?
Hello,
Started this game last year, got to level 14, and took a break due to work taking my time. Been thinking about it recently and so installed it last night and just booted it up to refresh myself a bit, do one quest and stop (here I come Tom Bombadil!).
I do recall liking the game and would like to make some more progress (I have some friends who would likely tag a long for dungeons, etc. which helps), but it just feels like without giving this all of my gaming time for multiple years, I don't stand a chance making any real progress. I am the gamer that tends to play multiple games at once, and working on finishing things in another MMO before it goes away in a few months.
I watched the Wolves of Mordor trailer, and it looked very fun and everything, but then seeing "Hundreds of hours of gameplay" was both like wow, and also like oh no I'm never going to get to anything current/updated.
Help a casual not give up! What can I do? Is it play through the main campaign to capped level (how many hours upon hours is that?), and then once capped, could I in then start playing the releases as they come out/buy older content if time allows, or do I have to play all the updates in order to progress like a normal MMO? Could I play updates not at capped level if I wanted, or does that not work (i.e. buy Wolves and have those "hundreds of hours" be my leveling experience on this or even a new character)? And also if I wanted to try a new class, are there options to have alts level faster either once my main us capped, or use alts to play through specific updates/DLCs if that makes sense?
I really enjoy this game and would like for it to be in my rotations but it just sometimes feels like a lost cause. Going to give some time to it this week, so any guidance here is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Playing Live Music
Hullo everyone! I'm Phrumpo from the Peregrin server, where I play music live on my keyboard. I've created a Youtube channel to share recordings of my songs, and this is my first video.

Just come back to the game after 5 years or so
Does anyone know if guying all the recently expansions offer any benefits or content to a new character?
I have decided to reroll as a lore master, as it’s the class I never played on launch.
I am not opposed to buying them, however if it’s all max level content it doesn’t seem worth it just yet. I’m. Or one to rush through the levels. I have that item that allows me to freeze xp so I can complete zones on level, rather than one shooting’s greys.
The last thing I seem to have bought was before the shadows. However I had some family stuff at the time so never really played it.
Appreciated!!!
Things to buy on the Points Shop?
So I am not against a subscription to a game but in general I prefer to just straight purchase things when I can so if I take breaks or need to let my sib lapse I can keep access to things. Its why I bought many of the previous xpacs back in the day.
I am curious what are some things, preferably account wide, that you would suggest grabbing a la carte. A Premium House? Carry Alls? That 4th Profession slot?
What would you get and why?

Am I the only one who feels bad about continuously mocking this poor dwarf for his poor archery skills?

Clothes make the man.
Finally, a hat that suits me. The only hat worth wearing was the one you made for yourself.

Accumulating Medallions
What would be the fastest way to accumulate medallions? Do higher tier skirmishes give more medallions?

Wrong Way Around?
I'm running a Hunter and trying to completely refrain from doing any Main (Epic) Quests, just leveling through exploration and every side quest possible. I'm currently lvl 70, and have been getting LI xp along with everything else... Except because I'm not doing my main quests, I don't have a LI. My current (cross)bow was crafted, and everything else is from the Skirmish Camps. Am I losing potential improvement for this Class Unique weapon? Or does it not matter?
Also, I'm receiving Essences and Enhancement Runes and other things... Do I need to care about those right now? At all?
Thank you!

What is the best way to buy all expansions that aren’t included with VIP?
Absolutely loving the game and I would like to get my account full access to all quests and areas, I have VIP so I know that goes up a lot, but which expansions do I need to buy specifically?
Is there a sale due soon for them? There’s a lot and they’re expensive

Camera anchor point
Cheers. I've seen a few posts with people trying to break down the games code, trying like a free cam mode or other FOV stuff. I'm curios if anyone has tried something similar to WoW's Dynamic Camera addon, as in to be able to adjust camera anchor points, like vertical or horizontal position? I really like playinga dwarf, but i hate that the camera is anchored in the center of the character, having all that space under the feet, unnecesarly. In Wow I use that addon to pull the camera bit up,to see more of the sky,the feet are right above the action bar,no matter how zoome in or out I am. Anyone have any knowledge in that? Thanks!

LOTRO: Project Questa. Build 7. NPC narration test using pre-recorded quest dialogue.
Rather than relying upon text capture to OCR to TTS, which works but has some latency issues, I decided to try a different approach. Someone on the LOTRO forums made a throwaway remark about "why not pre-record all the quest dialogue".
This can be done and will certainly make the overall process quicker. Yes there are a lot of quests in LOTRO and yes the recorded dialogue for the entire game could be multiple gigabytes. However, it could be broken down into Quest Pack or expansion specific libraries.
In the meantime, I decided to pre-record the dialogue for two specific quests and then test them in-game. The above video is a proof of concept rather than a comprehensive test of the system.
I used Voicebox to give both Gandalf and Aragorn very specific (and possibly familiar) voices.

[Lost Media] Does anyone has this file?
This video was very popular among us bards back in the day, and I used to have this file back then. Does anyone still have this .ABC file?
Crafting Questions: Are any still useful, and what would be good for a solo Beorning?
So I am coming back to the game to give it some of my time, and I got a Beorning I am playing through that new starting experience in Mosswood. I enjoy crafting in games, the idea of gathering and making things to help me on my journey as I tend to play solo.
I am curious if crafting in LOTRO is still useful (its been MANY years since I last touched the game, before all the world content was actually free, for exmaple) and if so, what would pair well with Beorning? Do you still choose a Vocation where you get a set of crafting / gathering or do you pick up to 3 or what?

Curious to know how people do quests
I know there's no right or wrong way to do quests, but I want to know how others do it. I'm already at volume 4 but the way I do quests/try to progress through the main storyline always feels like a mess. I get underleveled quick and when I try to fill in the gaps using side quests in the area, either the quest chain sends me all over the map and I end up so far away from the main quest area, or it's a short side quest that doesn't get me enough levels so that I have to travel to a previous area to find some side quests, which just feels off.
I know there's a lot of ways to do it, so I'm not really looking for advice but I'm curious how others do their quests. Lately I just do missions to get levels fast so I can do the storyline uninterrupted and pick some side quests afterwards but it can get boring from time to time so perhaps there's no perfect way to do it
Yet another TTS for quests/text windows (but with german support)
Hey Guys, after seeing the post for project Questa i thought i'd post my TTS project too. Especially to give german speakers an option.
I re-entered LOTRO a few months ago and all those quest texts without voice acting was bothering me again with the time. So i searched for a tool and quickly i found all those projects (LotroToSpeech, Khazad-Voice-TTS, Lotro-VoiceOver), but none really worked for german language out of the box. And because of the fact i wasn't completely satisfied with technical "structure" of the projects, i decided you build one from scratch adapting the ideas/workflows to my need/wishes.
So i rebuild and expanded the quest/npc database with english/german/french (FR for future), reworked the workflows, build modules from scratch to be fully portable without external tools like Tesseract OCR and keeping everything in one folder. Built the current voices with OG soundfiles from the game. More are WIP.
As you can see in the video, the biggest "problem" is the delay between OCR and playing TTS. Thats WIP and will be focused.
Maybe this could be useful for my fellow german speakers like it is for me :)

Lotro Delver - Season 2
RELEASE TRAILER: YouTube
It's been quite some time since the last update. Some of you might have noticed changes here and there, and a lot of work has been happening behind the scenes. Today is patch day: after almost two months of work, Lotro Delver v2 is live, the biggest update the site has ever had. The update today prepares us for the upcoming features! Some new features are:
- An updated Build Generator that can fully calculate your skill tooltips, supports effects and other buffs. You can exactly see how much tooltip numbers went up or down after changing the build.
- The Instance Delver, with a page for every instance, raid, skirmish and big battle. And maybe if the community wants, there can be community written guides on top of this data, in a new editor.
- New databases for skills, monsters, stats and questing places, plus a page for every class.
- Updated our World map to now show quests, enemies, crafting resources, etc.
- Community guides that any player can write about classes, instances or any other topic.
- A complete UI overhaul. Currently live: A new halloween theme!

You'll find everything in detail at https://lotro-delver.com/en/changelog#v2.0.0. Everything in v2 was built and tested by one person, so please see it as a public beta <3. If something looks off, let me know in the Support Center or on Discord, and it gets fixed.
Thank you to everyone who reported bugs and shared ideas along the way! https://lotro-delver.com/ - See you in Middle-earth!

Wolves of Mordor is coming soon - Thoughts on Survival Instincts?
Wolves of Mordor is a few days away! I stopped following the Survival Instincts development after the devs turned it off beta from the backlash. I've seen some YTers hype it up even but no real substance to that. Is there anything redeeming about it?

2nd opinion on alts
So I have always mained a hunter since 2012ish, its been the only class I haven't rerolled. But now I have more slots and chars than I know what to do with, and gearing all of the ones I do use takes a lot of time. So outside of their primary DPS line im looking to save time and was wondering if it would be more efficient to use just my cappy on as tank and heals, or use my guard/cappy as tank and my mini/RK as heals. I also have a LM i use for yellow line, and a champ/ward i plan on just using damage spec

Returning Player Tank question
Hi guys, returning player here after a long long break. I always played Guardian and around Rohan expansion times I remember Guardians being prefered as tanks although Wardens could pull of some crazy stuff if played well. Currently being back, we got Beornings, we have ofc Wardens who from what I gathered are nearly unkillable etc and we have few more tanking classes - My question is , do Guardians still live up as one of the best tanks? Many thanks for any input :)
Safe travels!
