Hey yall, posted this in the Teenage Engineering sub but thought it also made sense here since LoFi is my biggest inspiration :)

Like the next cat I've listened to a lot of Lo-fi and have always wanted to have a go at making it. I really love making high energy tracks with lots going on, lots of variety and such so it's very difficult for me to dial things back and make something like this. I researched a lot and many Lo-fi tracks seem to use the same chord progression over time as a base and just build layers on top of it.

So here's my first attempt! Just a heads up, my genre is chiptune so expect some beepy synths! Any feedback for a cat on a new journey?

Hey everyone!

I'm completely new to making music and just finished my very first track, called "Lofi Monday".

I have no background in music production or music theory. I'm basically learning as I go, experimenting in BandLab and trusting my ears.

I know that the track is a little repetitive, and I'm sure there's plenty I could improve. So that's why I'm posting here. I woukd genuinely appreciate some honest feedback from people who know this genre(and making music) better than I do.

What works? What doesn't? Anything I should focus on improving for my next track?

I'm also hoping to connect with an illustrator or visual artist who might be interested in collaborating on artwork for future releases. Maby someone newely started like myself.

I'm just getting started, but I'm really enjoying the process so far.

Started playing the first one track one had all these great samples to pull. Gotta clean up the transitions a little bit but really like the way this one sounds.

This was a Nintendo Lofi playlist posted to youtube around 2020 I think. It is probably my most watched youtube video ever, that video singlehandedly got me through covid. Sadly, a few months ago the channel behind it was terminated. I ended up finding an audio download of the playlist tucked away in my PDFs folder on my school chromebook. I do not know if anyone downloaded the video as well, but I really hope so because the pixel art was really cool. A week-ish ago I contacted Dystify to see if they still had the video, and they have not yet responded. Any further help in the search is greatly appreciated!
