Education Update on my BYD Atto 2 accident in Lahore

Post image
236 Upvotes

The police blamed me 70 percent even though my car was stopped and the other driver overtook and hit my brand new car
The owner reportedly has army connections and the police said an FIR would only be against the poor driver not the company If I pursue the case I will have to attend every hearing while it will not affect him much
My repair cost is Rs 500000 but they offered only Rs 40000 I feel completely helpless and have no choice but to bear the loss myself

Honestly i am feeling devastated and helpless. It makes me feel that as a middle-class person in Pakistan without powerful connections getting justice can feel impossible. Right now, I’m ashamed, frustrated, and completely exhausted by this experience.
Thank you to everyone who gave advice and tried to help i genuinely appreciate it.

Education Is UOL worth it?

I’ve checked it’s ranking nationally and internationally and i think it’s pretty decent, better then many
One thing that scared the ssss outa me is that people are saying it’s “paindu” and “not worth it” and I mean they aren’t even providing reasons.

It can be “not worth it” acc to their definition of standards , ykwim? Is it actually bad??

Ps I’ve seen every student hate their institute, could it be just that?

Education Avoid these liars in Hafeez Center

Post image

Long story short. I bought two pixel chargers from the guy on the left and he assured me that "Bhai Jan Kuch bhi hota hay, ap lay ana wapis receipt Kay Sath"

So one of the chargers stopped working. No smoke, no burning smell, no nothing. So I went to him and counter to what he said, he started arguing about how the "warranty" he himself wrote on my receipt for a year doesn't apply because the charger isn't working. Apparently their "warranty" doesn't cover anything unless the charger is in a working condition when you bring it to them (even then I have doubt that they'll do anything).

It started to develop into a more heated argument with both sides raising their voices so I just ended with "ap ki shakal par likha wah hay Deen Iman nahi apka" and me and my buddies just went away.

Their shop is right next to the middle of hafeez center"s spiral staircase. Be careful.

Education Got my docs attested from MOFA Lahore

I visited MOFA office lahore at 7am on Friday. There were atleast 300 people already standing and the gate opening time was 8 o'clock.

I also get in line and and hundred of people were behind me afterwards.

Gate opens at 8 am and after a long time I get tickets from post office (50 rupees per ticket per document). Then there was another line inside, where we have to submit the docs, I submitted the docs at 10 pm.When I was going back, there was still a long line of people.

I was standing literally for 3 hourse straight, no place to sit.

Then came back at 3 pm to get my docs back and there was a chaos, ao many people standing randomly waiting for there token number.

My qr code starts working on Monday.

Education Is lgs JT too expensive?

Is LGS JT really elitist ?
A family is considering to send their child there . The high fee is an issue but they will manage
Their main concern is they have been told extra curricula makes it expensive and are costly
Secondly there is a bias that only rich children are given priority at school
Is it true

Education Is aitchison good for A levels?

I’m from Islamabad, my father wants me to apply to aitchison for boarding school. The fees is 2 lakh which is a lot for us but if it’s worth it, I’m willing to go there. My o level grades would most probably be 5A*s and 5A (inshallah). The application fees is 30k for boarding, and then there’s an interview. I have no extra curriculars and I have no interest in sports. Will they take my admission? What happens in the interview? The applications I found on their websites ask for each and every detail of one’s family. I have yet to fill out the form. If anyone here is from Aitchison please contact me 🙏 I’m being indecisive and need some insider info or any additional information, because I don’t want to let my parents down if I have no chance of being accepted.

Education My experience with LGS phase 5

I entered this school for IGCSE and I regret it. In my old school roots you could come anytime, wear what you want, it was well-made, etc. in this school I have to come at exactly 7:30 with a card and if I come with a driver he needs one too. There’s a strict uniform I have to follow at all times. The canteen is small, not to mention it takes 5 minutes going down to the canteen and the total break is 15 minutes. The bathrooms are nasty. Instead of using a normal board they use a projector in class which barely works and you can hardly see what’s happening if you’re sitting behind. It’s literally wood chairs for the entire time with no cushions. When the day is finally over I still have 40 minutes left to go even though my house isn’t far, but just because of the traffic around that time.

Education Homeschool or traditional school? Need honest advice.

I’m based in Lahore, Pakistan, and trying to decide whether to homeschool my son or enroll him in a regular school.

My hesitation with the school system here is that it often feels focused on outdated methods, rote memorization, and exam results rather than real learning, critical thinking, or practical skills.

At the same time, homeschooling sounds appealing in theory, but I know the reality can be demanding in terms of structure, consistency, socialization, and the parent’s time/effort.

For those who’ve experienced either path, especially in Pakistan or similar systems, what helped you decide?

Any regrets, pros/cons, or things I should realistically consider before choosing?

Education UCP BSCS semester fee

Post image
49 Upvotes

Does anyone what is the semester fee for BSCS semester fee? The webpage only mentions of 1st semester. Also, is there anyway of knowing how a student is doing who is studying there? Someone close to me suspects that his brother who studies at UCP has been lying about his grades. He doesn’t show his transcripts etc at home and puts up a fights whenever he is asked about it. I don’t live in Pakistan and neither does this person (whose brother is in UCP) so don’t know if it’s possible to inquire from outside Pakistan. Would an email message to administration help? Kindly let me know if anyone knows anything about it. The guy is wasting his family’s money and we have no clue what he’s doing at university or even attending it. The family is really worried and financially drained.

Education What is schooling like (Aitchison, prep schools)?

My kids have only been exposed to the Canadian education system, but we are temporarily relocating to Lahore and my 7 year old will be attending a prep school for Aitchison and my partner’s family would like him to attend Aitchison. My question is how is the schooling at this or similar schools, comparatively to North American education at the grade 2 level? Im flying blind here. I really dont want toput too much pressure on my kid to get As or do homework (which we dont have at his level in my province). Are the kids there kind? I know they dont do corporal punishment anymore but what else can I expect? We have provisions in the current school board for kids who struggle with focus or have ADHD/Autism. Is public school a better option? He only speaks english. Thanks in advance!

Edit:

While technically she committed suicide but luck saved her. Therefore, the title should've been "attempted" suicide.

Also,

She's alive and is under recovery.

Education State bank called me 3 times in past week

So I have an account in Alfalah Islamic and don't know if there's an internal data leak from their side or what but in past week I have received 3 calls saying we are calling from State bank of Pakistan and you are to receive a new card as old chip debit cards are now being blocked by state bank to ensure security.

The important thing, they knew last 4 digits of my card, account holder name, and the branch where my account is.

Anyways reason for posting is that I knew it was a scam but there are several people who become victim of such frauds so such be aware folks!!

Education Is Lahore American School worth the fee + long commute?

Need honest opinions from people familiar with LAS or Learning Alliance.

I’m considering LAS for my daughter but the fee is very high and commute would be around 1 hour+ daily overall. Wondering if elite schools really make a huge difference in early years or if middle/high school matters more later for universities abroad.

Would it make more sense to do primary years at Learning Alliance and switch later?

Also curious whether LAS is truly academically exceptional or mainly valuable for exposure/networking/confidence building.
