In my neighborhood there's sidewalk installation happening and prep for sewer and gas line work. Today a guy in a yellow & orange vest with clipboard knocked and said he was here with his partner (across the street) to do home checks. Huh? He looked like an official city worker or contractor, but after a couple of questions, I learned that was not the case. There are a lot of old people in my neighborhood and I fear they will be confused by these guys. I called the city to report this but of course no human was available and I had to leave a message. With so much street & utility work going on in the city, folks should be alert to possible scammers.

Hey fellow hunters,
This is a reminder to double check maps and regulations for public land hunting in the Lacrosse area. The City of lacrosse, The City and Town of Onalaska, and the Mississippi Valley Conservancy will all confiscate your tree stands and camera's if left on their property.
Also not all public lands are huntable. Look at this Map. All this land is public land, but you can only hunt the Green and Red areas not the Purple and Blue ones, and the green and red areas have different rules. All Huntable MVC land follows the municipalities rules. So the green areas in this example are MVC, but Onalaska rules apply, and the red is Lacrosse sub Metro so Lacrosse rules apply.

It is important we all follow the rules laid out by the municipalities so we don't lose our hunting privileges on these lands.
Here are some resources:
City of Lacrosse: https://www.cityoflacrosse.org/Your-Government/Departments/Parks-Recreation-Forestry/Parks/Trails/Hunting
MVC: https://www.mississippivalleyconservancy.org/resources/policies

Greetings all, I have been looking for a decent paying third shift weekend job recently and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? Must be at least $20/hr. I have a very diverse background including manufacturing, warehouse, restaurant management/line cook, network management, database management, inventory management, and security. Any direction would be much appreciated.

I noticed that a big concrete structure is being built next to Sacia's orchard. What is that going to be?

Is this allowed here? Didn’t see any rule that says no.
I have a 6 year old green cheek conure(teal variety) I’m considering rehoming. He is usually sweet and cuddly but has been more aggressive since I started working 10 hour shifts.
When he gets his out time he is a happy dude. We have to make up a day on the weekend before he’s not mad at me for being gone too much. I feel bad for him and maybe looking for a better home for him. The aggression is 100% because he just doesn’t get enough time not alone anymore. I am confident he will be super sweet to whoever becomes his new best friend.
I am looking for a couple things in a new owner for him for one I would like him to go to a home owner. I don’t want him rehomed a bunch of times due to housing change issues. Secondly just be stable and give him the love he deserves.
He is not for sale. I am aware what he is worth but he is not money to me he’s my lil homie. I will ask some questions about you and your situation and if you seem like a good fit he can go home with you.
He was born in Eau Claire and came from Elysian Aviary. I have had him since he was weaned as a baby. He can talk, although not super clear. He says “I love you” and “pretty birdy” and sometimes all together as one sentence lol.
If you are who I may be looking for please shoot me a message. I can answer anything else you may want to know about him.

That's it. That's the post. I'm old enough to remember this sub being about La Crosse not Wisconsin politics.

Planning on replacing the landscape fabric under the rock in my yard, wondering if anyone rents something like this? Or if someone has one sitting in their garage and wouldn't mind loaning it out or renting for a few days? Thanks!

Hi everyone -- I teach in UWL's Department of Theatre & Dance and we've got a killer show running this weekend. It's the first time it's been produced in the region and the performances are stellar. UWL Theatre & Dance has the cheapest theatre tickets in town but we deliver high quality productions. Happy to answer questions! Thanks, as always, for letting me post here and share the word about the shows we're bringing to our community!
Our first show of the season is a new play called The Welkin: imagine 12 Angry Men + The Crucible but feminist and funnier! Highly recommend, especially, if you're into true crime, courtroom drama, and/or history!
Set in England, 1759, a woman has committed a murder. Upon receiving the death penalty, she claims to be pregnant. If true, it would spare her the noose. What they actually, historically would have done back then is assemble a jury of mothers to determine if she's telling the truth. The play dramatizes these deliberation in what becomes a gripping examination of power, privilege, and the silenced voices of women, as each juror’s own history, hardship, and beliefs shape the verdict. Tense, surprising, and darkly funny, The Welkin asks urgent questions about who gets to decide truth, whose lives are valued, and how personal experience becomes political.
For Mature Audiences.

Does anybody around know of any good spots for a birthday dinner? Some family is coming to town and we're planning on going out for my birthday.
Nothing extravagant but nothing really "divey".. I love Bodega, but kind of looking to go somewhere a little nicer. Originally was thinking Outback Steakhouse, but now I'm thinking I might want to go somewhere more local. And anywhere with gender-neutral bathrooms is a plus too.
EDIT: We decided to go to Matsumoto in Sparta! Somebody posted about it on this thread, but deleted their comment probably because the restaurant isn't actually in La Crosse. But it was worth the 20-30 minute drive. The ramen in Sparta is absolutely excellent and not that expensive at all 👌
