ANALYSIS & NEWS [Rapoport] The #Chiefs worked out three kickers and kept both Justin Tucker and Harrison Mevis around all day, giving them both physicals after similarly impressive workouts. In the end, with the experience and resume, Tucker gets the PS spot.

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Newell] Chiefs have pressing concerns after loss to Seahawks. Which can be fixed?
Seattle exposed two major offensive issues for Kansas City: offensive line depth and wide receiver production.
The latter has gotten the most attention over the last two days, which is understandable after Chiefs wideouts combined for just six catches and 39 yards.
Will this area get better? It should, starting Sunday. NBC’s broadcast indicated receiver Rashee Rice, who’s missed two weeks with a hamstring injury, is expected to return against the Denver Broncos this weekend. And while Rice isn’t a prototypical NFL WR1, he’s been a key part of many strong K.C. offenses, giving quarterback Patrick Mahomes a reliable target who specializes in yards after the catch.
General manager Brett Veach usually improves his roster with one trade before the deadline, and adding another receiver certainly would make sense. After Tyquan Thornton’s ankle injury, the Chiefs haven’t had the same downfield threat, and they also don’t have a true man-coverage-beating receiver unless they increase rookie Cyrus Allen’s playing time in future weeks.

OTHER For those who don’t live in Missouri/Kansas/nearby states like IA and NE: How did you become a Chiefs fan?
For me — it’s a big story. Back when I was a small child, the Chiefs were playing in an MNF game. I loved the way announcers said “CITY” and I loved the word “city” based on a TV show I loved then. My dad had multiple fantasy players and we ended up watching a lot of their games, I also liked how they were playing, and their colors/uniforms. Decided after a few football games and teams I watched Chiefs were my favorite (out of a few) and never looked back (that’s kinda how I was with sports teams, was very random at that time lol). Became a huge thing, was one of the best decisions I ever made.
For those of you who don’t really have connections to the city — how’d you become a fan?

MEME & HUMOR Jersey for trade
#71 Josh Simmons jersey. I wore it 9 times, which is only one more than Josh. It's the first jersey I've ever purchased. Will accept trades for jerseys of humans who play football. No low ball offers, I know what I have.

DISCUSSION O Line Stats (from NFL NGS)
If the latecomers to the room could kindly stfu about the O line because ChatGPT told them it's a problem, that would be great. The AIs rely on PFF bullshit that is utterly disconnected from the whole-team picture and is just dumb mathmagic. If you think your eyeballs are telling you it's a problem, give your brain some facts.
Here are the Chiefs' offense numbers from NFL Pro (Next Gen Stats), through 6 games:
Volume:
359 total plays: 198 passes, 161 runs (55.2% pass)
Pass protection:
Pressures allowed: 66, 5th-fewest in the league.
Pressure rate: 31.7%, 7th-lowest. *Benson's personal pressure rate is about 8%, up slightly from the 6.6% he had when awarded, winning 85% of his one-on-ones. So especially get my guy's name out your mouth unless it is to praise him*
Time to pressure: 2.72 seconds, 10th-best. Not bad.
Sack rate: 3.5%, third best, though I put this last because Pat generally self-rescues by throwing it away before that happens. Given the very good QBP and QBP% it seems like kind of a fringe stat that says more about Pat being willing to get the ball away if the pocket collapses on him.
Pat's time to throw is still 2.8, same as it was last year and the year before that. He is not being forced to throw early.
Mahomes air yards to the sticks, to illustrate that this is a no receivers problem. Next Gen Stats has him throwing into tight coverage only 6.8% of the time. Average throw lands 2.3 yards short of the first-down marker. That fits a quarterback with time but no open targets downfield.
Drop a comment if you want any other numbers.

MEME & HUMOR Chiefs are so ahead of the rest of the NFL that they are going into Week 10!
i had too many title/caption ideas and overthought it. My brain did a whole loop and started trying to figure out what season this was from until I realized the rest were accurate.

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Newell] Random stat: Chiefs opponents have made 13/13 FGs this year and have made 44/45 in the last two seasons (98%). One reason Butker's misses stand out could be that Chiefs fans never see it from other teams.

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Schultz] Sources: The Colts are also actively shopping DT DeForest Buckner, after trading away Quenton Nelson this morning. Expect him to be moved soon if the right offer comes in.
threads.comCmon Veach, make it happen. Fire sale, so it won't cost too much. And we could really use the extra pass rush juice.

DISCUSSION Just a fun what if: trade for Justin Reid and promote him over Butker to K1
As the title says, it’s a fun what if. If we’re going to have marginal kicking, might as well make it fun and get an extra tackler on the field.

DISCUSSION I think Josh Downs is the guy
Yes, he’s an imperfect and undersized player. But I don’t really see other realistic options.
Garrett Wilson - Jets are going to want a good environment for their next qb. He’s only 26 and they already have 3 FRP’s.
BTJ - Jags aren’t trading him to the Chiefs without a big overpay.
Devonta Smith - Not sure the Chiefs would be willing to give up a first for a receiver at his size. On one hand they love small receivers but on the other the WR room is already very small.
Jerry Jeudy - Not too costly but hasn’t had good production since 2024.
Dontayvion Wicks - Not sure he moves the needle
Who do you all think is the WR most likely to end up on KC?

DISCUSSION Is a WR really what we need?
Listen, I get it, I watched the game on Sunday. It was really bad. I think the chiefs should absolutely be calling everyone they can call for, but I don’t honestly think WR is where we should be looking. Our core is not stellar, certainly not, but they’ve held their own. Rice is expected to come back next week, and in the time he was out Worthy has actually had very solid games aside from Seattle.
The problem with Seattle wasn’t our receivers. It was our O-Line. The pocket collapsed within seconds of every snap. Mahomes had to run off on some insane improvisational route every time he wanted to make a play because the line just wasn’t holding. I know we’re down our starter for both tackles, and Moore really was barely even a starter to begin with on RT. With Simmons on IR and no telling if he’ll even be back once he’s off, our line is clearly extremely fragile especially on tackles. Are there no tackles worth trying to trade for? I’m sure it’d be costly, but what good is that cost for a star WR if one fluke injury leaves Mahomes completely vulnerable on every snap.
And how about shopping for a kicker? We could’ve been down only four points going into the last quarter, which maybe would’ve given us a little bit of momentum, if not for Butker’s two misses. That’s pretty huge! In key moments I don’t think I can trust Butker anymore. And what about pass rush? I think we’ve got a good group (especially in R Mason Thomas) but another great player in that group could push them up to another level!! Im just saying, I think there are other things we could be trading for than another WR, especially when if all else fails there is the “break glass in case of emergency” that is signing Tyreek.

DISCUSSION Don’t think I have ever seen Mahomes Pr this bad
I know it’s Twitter, and people on there are almost always prisoners of the moment, but I don’t think I have seen Pats Pr this bad. I am seeing people say he is washed, declining, was never really that good. How he is not a consensus top 3 QB anymore. Crazy.

DISCUSSION Walker is the Chiefs offense
This is not at all surprising to anyone but with Seattle successfully taking Walker out of the equation and exposing the Chiefs weakness, will other teams be able to replicate their success or is Seattle's' D just that good? I'm sure Denver is looking to get back at us after the stomping we gave them Week 1. I fully expect them to copy Seattle's game plan for next week. But can they actually prevent Walker from putting up 100+ yds?
