If the latecomers to the room could kindly stfu about the O line because ChatGPT told them it's a problem, that would be great. The AIs rely on PFF bullshit that is utterly disconnected from the whole-team picture and is just dumb mathmagic. If you think your eyeballs are telling you it's a problem, give your brain some facts.
Here are the Chiefs' offense numbers from NFL Pro (Next Gen Stats), through 6 games:
Volume:
359 total plays: 198 passes, 161 runs (55.2% pass)
Pass protection:
Pressures allowed: 66, 5th-fewest in the league.
Pressure rate: 31.7%, 7th-lowest. *Benson's personal pressure rate is about 8%, up slightly from the 6.6% he had when awarded, winning 85% of his one-on-ones. So especially get my guy's name out your mouth unless it is to praise him*
Time to pressure: 2.72 seconds, 10th-best. Not bad.
Sack rate: 3.5%, third best, though I put this last because Pat generally self-rescues by throwing it away before that happens. Given the very good QBP and QBP% it seems like kind of a fringe stat that says more about Pat being willing to get the ball away if the pocket collapses on him.
Pat's time to throw is still 2.8, same as it was last year and the year before that. He is not being forced to throw early.
Mahomes air yards to the sticks, to illustrate that this is a no receivers problem. Next Gen Stats has him throwing into tight coverage only 6.8% of the time. Average throw lands 2.3 yards short of the first-down marker. That fits a quarterback with time but no open targets downfield.
