Transportation FCO Airport ALERT- FYI increased travel time to Gates E31-E44 (Remote Gates) until March 2027

The Mods have also pinned this info in the sticky post at the top of the sub about tickets. If you haven't read that post yet we suggest you do so to review all the new info: https://www.reddit.com/r/ItalyTravel/comments/1icygbo/authorized_ticketaccess_websites_for_most_it/

FCO AIRPORT UPDATE FROM LATE 2026: work has begun at FCO to tear down the elevated train tracks that connect(ed) T3 to the outlying E31-E44 remote gates. You now have to walk quite a long way from the T3 Duty Free area past temporary gates & structures to a lower level bus pickup point. As most US flights depart from the above remote gates & all tend to be leaving around the same time (early to late AM), the bus wait lines can get very very long. You should budget AT LEAST 30+ minutes of wait & travel time to get from T3 to your gate via the bus. This construction will last until March 2027 (so they say, the actual date may be far longer as ADR works always take far far longer than planned). Details here: https://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en/infrastructure-works

There are limited services at the remote gates with only 1 semi-decent place to grab something to eat/drink- please don't get the disgusting pizza they have there it's an abomination: the sandwiches are just OK & yes the grumpy ladies serving coffee have always been that way. There are no lounges either as they're closed. Do your shopping at T3 and grab what you need there.

Itinerary !!MUST PROVIDE TRAVEL DATES!! First trip to Italy with my daughter (19) : does this itinerary look realistic?

Hi everyone! My daughter and I are heading to Italy next spring. I'm mostly healthy, but I have a health condition that means I can't be on my feet a lot and need to be mindful not to overexert myself. I also get motion sick on longer rides (but can take medicine if need be… just don’t want to take it every day. We’re planning one main activity a day with downtime to rest, and we'd rather have unique experiences than rush between tourist traps.

Dates: Leaving Sunday night, May 23, landing in Rome Monday morning, flying home from Naples Friday, June 4.

Rome (3 nights)
Mon 5/24: Arrive and rest
Tue 5/25: Early-morning Vatican tour (still deciding on this one, might swap for a food tour)
Wed 5/26: Golf cart tour in the morning, Colosseum night tour

Florence (3 nights)
Thu 5/27: High-speed train to Florence, afternoon shopping
Fri 5/28: Perfume-making class + maybe timed entry to see David at the Accademia
Sat 5/29: Half-day trip to the Tuscan countryside to see the rolling hills
Sorrento (5 nights)
Sun 5/30: Train to Naples, car to Sorrento
Mon 5/31: Beach day
Tue 6/1: Capri by the larger ferry (not an all-day small-boat tour)
Wed 6/2: Pizza-making class
Thu 6/3: Free day for shopping
Fri 6/4: Fly home from Naples
Questions:
Does this pacing seem realistic, or is anything more physically demanding than it looks?
Vatican tour or food tour in Rome? Which would you pick?
Any tips for Capri?
Any recommendations for easy, low-walking Tuscany half-day trips from Florence?
Anything we'd regret missing that fits this pace?
Thanks so much in advance!

Hello everyone, my friend and I (both 23-year-old males) are going to Rome from today (28.10) until the 02.11. I was wondering what are some places we should visit or if you have any general recommendations. We are down for anything- sightseeing, nice bars or restaurants, clubs, attractions, we’re here to explore the beautiful city of Rome and experience local cuisine and atmosphere. Thank you in advance.

Itinerary !!MUST PROVIDE TRAVEL DATES!! Dolomites with an elderly person

Hello

I would like to take a trip to the Dolomites in May or June, and I'd like to take my elderly mom with me. As she's over 70 and with some health issues, we can't do any crazy hikes or anything too demanding. Our trip would probably start from either Venice or Milano.

I'm wondering, do you have any suggestions how to best experience the Dolomites with an elderly person? Are there some locations where we could take a gondola or a funicular up for some views and some easier (rather flat) walking routes? Due to health issues it's also important that bathrooms wouldn't be too far.

In one post someone suggested Ortisei or Siusi/Fiè to Alpe di Siusi. Would that make sense? Does it have sufficient infrastructure?

If it's not possible then I will probably just stick with Lake Garda area or something less demanding.

Sightseeing & Activities !!MUST PROVIDE TRAVEL DATES!! Museums about culinary history in Italy?

Any region works. I'm not talking about producers of authentic food products that allow tours, but museums focusing on culinary or agricultural history. Looking for May 2027.

Sightseeing & Activities !!MUST PROVIDE TRAVEL DATES!! Are these genuine Borghese Gallery tickets and did I buy the right one?

I bought two tickets for November 1 on this website

https://www.tosc.it/event/galleria-borghese-galleria-borghese-22159566/

It only gave me the option of 4 euros each (2 booking fee + 2 service fee)

Is it because it falls on the free sunday date? Thank you for answering!
