My little nugget! It’s been such an adventurous week. Thank you to this community, I feel so prepared to love on this little girl. The first few days were a bit of a struggle. New puppy life. Who needs sleep??
She’s so vocal when she’s mad! It makes me giggle. The angry chomps when I give her a treat while she’s pissed off about being in the car are some of my favorite things.
Shes already spoiled rotten by her two dads and my heart melts every time she wakes up from a nap in her crate to seek me out so she can fall asleep in my lap. 💖

Hi everyone! First time poster, long time lurker. I am a new, proud owner of a 6 month old Iggy I've had now for 2 months. She seems to be having some food sensitivities (skin reaction, watery poops, wanting to eat her poop, etc.) She's eating puppy kibble, Hill's Science Diet lamb and rice, and as of right now, financially, kibble is the best option for me. She also has super sensitive skin and needs to be wiped down after her walks through grass. Is anyone else's Iggy so sensitive? Would love some food recommendations and some good teething snack options. Thank you!

I saw some dog owners online talking about how Simparica Trio, Brevecto, and other flea and tick/heartworm preventative causes neurological issues, epilepsy and seizures in their dogs. My dog has been on Simparica trio for 4 years no issue but I know iggies are prone to epilepsy. Has anyone heard of a link between these medications and epilepsy in IGs? Or does anyone use any natural flea and tick preventative for their IG?

Hi all - any tips about potty training an adult rescue (6yo)? She’s done some poos and wees outside but also some indoors. She also popped in her crate last night. It’s not been long but i’m a little worried as the rescue told me she was potty trained…

some of you may remember my post about my baby cheese boy, pecorino romano, who crossed the rainbow bridge due to a congenital lung disease. it was tragic, traumatizing, and left our souls so sad.
we decided to continue loving on the iggy breed, and welcome our new baby home, Kuromi 🎀 she's FIESTY, sweet, cuddly, and stole our hearts!
since i got her 3 weeks earlier than i got my last baby (she's 8 weeks now) i'm learning a lot of new things about a newer puppy. she's so incredibly hyper and active (pros of a healthy dog lol) and then crashes for like an hour or so. i have a few questions and would love some guidance on this adorable baby. attaching pics!
1) what are some tips to get her through this landshark biting phase her bites are HARD and they hurt so bad omg
2) she will only poop on her pad but not pee best potty training tips?
3) should i get her training?
4) when is a good time to start letting her outside? she doesn't have all her vaccines yet so don't want her to catch anything especially when we're in a transitional insurance phase
5) when is a good time to start training her on the leash? she feels so baby right now that starting leash training didn't make sense but should i just get her used to it now?
6) she refuses to go and sleep in the crate. we've been letting her sleep with us and she actually sleeps mostly thru the night just gets up to play at like 5 am lmao what are some tips for getting the puppy to sleep the entire night?
7) best affordable clothing websites?
8) best car seats? i have a middle console transporter for now but she literally has been cartwheeling out of it
i fear this girl has a personality of her own, she defintely gives me a run for my money! raising a girl IG is so different than a boy. anyone notice a difference between the two genders?
thank you in advance!

Is 10 month old Ralph too skinny ?
He has been on chicken and rice for the last couple days because of a runny tummy which seems to have passed now so I’m re introducing his normal kibble back into his diet
We already upped his kibble allowance 10g because I thought he was looking a bit skinny but now I’m thinking another 10g

Hi all!
My partner and i have a 4 month old iggy puppy. He is very loved and thriving in our routines. We bought him from a kennel in the country we’re from which is registered and well known and the puppy has a great pedigree.
Before deciding to go ahead and put any deposit down we specifically explained that his adult size was important since both me and my partner travel for work and we would need to bring our dog.
The breeder assured us he was gonna be medium size for his breed (we have this in writing). Perfect.
Today he is 4 months old, 4.3 kg and 40 cm at the withers. Way over what an expected mediumsized iggy would be at this age.
What do we do? Airline carries height requirements is 23 cm. That means he needs to fit in 23 cm under the seat.
I don’t think we could ever let go of him since he’s already such a big part of our family but i feel scammed… Now he’s potentially gonna make our work life a lot harder.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How forgiving are the airlines about dog heights? How much more is he gonna grow? Could this maybe be his end height and he’ll end up being around 5 kg? Do we take legal measures?
EDIT: It’s disappointing that a genuine question has turned into personal attacks and assumptions from people who know next to nothing about my situation.
I did my research, but I only personally know one other Italian Greyhound, weighing 4.5 kg, so the breed standards I found online didn’t seem unrealistic. What else was I supposed to base my expectations on?
I’m also not the experienced breeder here. She is, and given the information we provided about our lifestyle and why size mattered to us, I don’t think she should have assured us of a particular size if she couldn’t reasonably predict it.
All of this could have been explained respectfully instead of turning into a judgment of my ability to own a dog. It’s a shame that asking a genuine question in a community meant for sharing knowledge results in this kind of hostility. I won’t be engaging further, but thank you to those who actually offered helpful advice.

She sits/lays on him all the time and he just lets her. I suspect he likes the warmth and she likes the attention

Hi all! I recently posted about my struggles getting my good boy Wally (2) potty trained and walking outside. (See post titled help)
I wondered if there were any confident nyc /uptown iggies who might want a walk with him? If that's not a weird question.... Just an idea.
Thank you!

Hello! Wanted to ask the community if anyone has experienced something like this and what they have done! I know hair loss and skin dryness is fairly common but maybe someone can share their experience with this.
My boy Tui has finally gotten through his leg fracture after 9 months of trial and error and remedial surgery to fix his plate exposure. I think it could be attributed to him being constantly splinted and wrapped making his skin suffer but maybe it’s just something else!
It is in one spot pictured primarily but there’s also tiny little patched along his leg he broke!
Thank you folks!

This little gal hasn’t peed or pooped inside an entire month! The longest she’s ever gone accident free has been two weeks, and she’s only managed to do that like, twice in her whole life. She’s turning two in January and I was starting to think this day would never come 🤣🤣🤣
