Salary Negotiations Demotivated with Appraisal

I work in an EdTech and just got our appraisal letters. Despite a promotion and higher rating than last year, my hike is less than last year's.

I have 10+ yrs of experience and I know I'm being paid much below the industry standards and even the company's own standards as per salaries stated online. I'm wondering if it's even worth fighting with HR because I have 0 expectations from them.

Just sucks. Any advice on how to deal with HR in this scenario.

Am I Fucked? Joined a new company, but things aren't as promised

My previous company had weekends off, and my new company's HR said working days would be Monday to Friday. Now they say Saturday work may be required with no overtime or compensatory leave, and the outstation allowance is lower than promised. When I raised it, HR just said,

'This is the policy we follow for everyone.'

My salary is the same as before, and I joined for better stability,

I'm very disappointed and seriously considering resigning, but I'm confused about what to do first.

Career Advice Is this toxic or am I overreacting?

I am a fresher who recently got converted to a full timer after a year of internship. The thing is the company and my seniors'expectations are that I work beyond what my actual role and responsibilities are. I am expected to start working by 10 am in the morning and then attend all the client calls (since they are based out of the US) till late in the night. I have tried saying no and I avoid hopping onto any call after I close my laptop. But it's starting to get inevitable now the clients are demanding, the company's culture is demanding and the seniors are not ready to help me out with the workload, I am like a baby given a gun and told to go and fight a war by myself anyhow. I am even expected to work on my leaves (this Diwali) when I applied for the leave and got it approved my senior passed comment on it along the line "tumhe pata hai na tumhe tab bhi kaam karna padega". Being a fresher I don't know whether this is normal workplace behaviour or am I working in a toxic environment. Please help me understand how do I set boundaries so that my work doesn't spill into my life man, it's starting to burn me out so bad.

Career Advice Stuck in an IT service-based job at 23 and completely lost about M.Tech, MBA, or switching paths [Advice needed]

I am a 23 year old, working in WITCH as a Project Engineer. I have a BTech in CSE, and I graduated in 2025 from MIT Manipal. I have 1+ year of work experience. Lately, I have realised that I hate IT due to the constant upskilling required, long working hours, and fear of layoffs and bench policies. Although these are not affecting me badly right now, I am afraid that i would be stuck if I stay in this industry for long, and would be helpless when I'd have to support my family on my shoulders. I feel like I'd always be on survival mode if I stay in IT field.

I was initially thinking that I'd do a MTech at Manipal itself, and go abroad for a PhD to explore research and academia opportunities. It would take at least 7-8 years for me to get into a stable career if I choose this path.

On the other hand, I was thinking of getting a Tier 2.5 MBA from private universities like SRM, Amrita.. I don't think I can crack CAT (or have the time to prepare), and I do not have the financial status to do an MBA from top business schools..

I wonder whether Tier 2.5 MBAs from universities like SRM, Amrita are even worth it, or if I would get a job after doing one..

Other options are to prepare for government exams, or to start my own business (i am from a lower middle class family, so I can't really invest much)..

I am totally confused what I must do. Please guide me 🙏 I'm so confused about myself

P.s. I have not started preparing for GATE or CAT. I started working in September 2025, and would have ~2 years of work experience by September 2027
