Educational Jio Financial (JIOFIN): Is ₹200 Support Zone Worth Watching?

Thumbnail

I spent the last few days reading through Jio Financial’s last three earnings call transcripts, and honestly, I came away with mixed feelings.

Let me start with what impressed me. Jio Credit, the lending arm, has gone from ₹25,700 cr in loans to ₹37,320 cr in just six months. Bank of America is coming in for a 49.9% stake, which brings roughly ₹18,000 cr of fresh capital (pending approvals). JioBlackRock’s AUM is already at ₹22,746 cr, and the payments bank says it has turned operationally profitable. Add a net worth of about ₹1.3 lakh cr, and the foundation is clearly strong.

But then I looked at the profit side, and the picture changes.

FY26 consolidated profit actually dipped about 3%. ROE is around 1.2%. That is very low for a company this size. And when I dug into where the earnings come from, a big chunk is RIL dividends and treasury gains, not the lending business itself. Jio Credit’s profit is ₹120 cr a quarter, which is small next to that capital base.

A few other things caught my eye: borrowings at Jio Credit have crossed ₹42,000 cr, its capital adequacy has come down from 25.9% to 18.5%, the BlackRock and Allianz ventures are still making losses while they scale, and payment volumes and monthly active users both slipped last quarter.

So where do I land? The business is building something real. But at a P/E of around 90 on FY26 numbers, the market is already paying for years of growth that haven’t shown up in profits yet. For me, this is a story stock right now, not an earnings stock. That isn’t necessarily bad, you just need to know which one you’re buying.

I’ll be watching four things: when the BofA money actually comes in, how fast Jio Credit’s profit grows, when associate losses start shrinking, and how the loan book holds up as it ages.

What do you think, is the market too far ahead here, or is the runway worth the premium?

Discussion Jio's listing today marks a new phase for the business

Post image
• Upvotes

Anant Ambani's speech at the listing ceremony focused on Jio's journey, its customers and the people who built its network. He also spoke about the company's ambition to contribute to India's digital development.

Now that Jio Platforms is publicly listed, investors will have more direct exposure to its business performance.

It'll be interesting to see how the company balances its existing telecom business with future digital and technology investments.

Question Any advice here would be appreciated.

My wife and I both have regular 9 to 5s, but trading has become a pretty solid additional income stream for us. Between our salaries and what we make from trading, we're comfortable enough to take care of the kids, plan trips and not stress over every little expense.
The funny part is how much time people spend glorifying the hustle. Both of us still work, but we're also learning how to make our money work for us instead of trading every waking hour for it. We track our setups every night on sahi and it has literally become a part of our night routine. We spend atleast 2 hours and not one complaint cause we're slowly getting better at being disciplined.
Not saying everyone can just quit their job and become a trader overnight. There's risk involved and we're definitely not treating it like free money. But if you're already working a 9 to 5 and haven't even tried learning about investing or trading, maybe it's worth looking into.
Smart work over hard work, always.

Anyone else here building a second income stream alongside their job?

Discussion Wonder whose orders these were

Post image

Massive publicly visible orders, (looks like 1000+ crores) at 1358 practically floored the price of jio during the early trading hours. Are these even legit orders?

Educational Checked every Nifty death cross since 2013. A year later, Nifty was higher all 9 times.

Death cross = 50-day SMA falls below the 200-day SMA.

Nifty 50 daily data, 2012–2026:

- 9 completed death crosses (Aug 2013 – Jan 2025). One year later: higher 9/9, median +13%.

- March 2020: the death cross came on 19 Mar, the lowest close was 23 Mar (2 trading days later). +78% a year after the cross.

- 10 golden crosses: they appeared a median 18% above the 1-year low. Higher a year later in 8 of 10.

Takeaway: both averages lag by design. Useful for trend context, poor for timing exits.

Limits: small sample, Nifty rose over the period (flatters any "hold" result), index not stocks, price only.

Not advice. Happy to hear criticism.

Question im Quit option

Post image
6 Upvotes

Quit options after seeing 100% 200% 300% monthly jumps. Today I could've made 30% of my capital in 5 mins but I froze.

I'm not scared of losing - I traded fearlessly for 3 months. But suddenly before every trade my mind goes "what if it goes against me? what if I lose today?"

Crazy part is I've only traded 20 days in the last 60 trading days and all 20 were green. Not a single f*cking red day. And now I'm feeling scared for no reason why?

Anyone been through this?

Discussion So a marketing hyped IPO had a bumper opening | JIO market cap exceeds Bharti Airtel

With the bumper IPO listing gains of JIO, which was heavily marketed by all brokers and social media delivered exceptional listing gains.

Jio has more market cap now then Airtel. Bharti Airtel stock has holdings of their Africa business, Indus Towers stake included in the valuation.

I am afraid now there will be blind application rush for all IPO going forward by common people without understanding it's implications.

Discussion Every list of India’s “fastest growing sectors” has the same six names. Has anyone actually made money just by picking the hot one?

Every one of these lists says the same thing: IT/AI, renewables, electronics, infrastructure, healthcare, financials. And the growth numbers are real. The government’s capex this year is ₹12.2 lakh crore, and electronics exports hit $22.2 billion in the first half of FY26.

But a fast-growing sector doesn’t automatically mean good returns. By the time everyone’s talking about it, a lot of the growth is usually already in the price.

IT is the obvious example. It’s on every “growth” list, and it still fell up to 3% on Tuesday over an AI IPO headline. Same sector, but the thing driving the growth story is also the thing people worry could replace the work.

So how do you pick? Do you start with the sector and then find companies, or start with the company and ignore the sector? And is anyone here holding a “hot” sector from two or three years ago? How did it work out?

Question Can you trade during US pre-market or after-hours?

So apparently US markets are open like most of the time during a day because of pre-market and after-hours trading. I was wondering if it’s possible to trade or place orders during that time.

Like US pre market is open when it’s afternoon in India, it’d be just easy then to do all of that during actual market which starts in the evening.

Does any app allow that?

Discussion HDFC Sky vs Upstox MTF charges: ₹750 vs ₹1,200 on the same ₹75k borrowing

Have you ever tried to understand how much you are paying the broker as MTF charges for funding a stock position, rather than just looking at the margin I need upfront? Well I did and this is what I got to know

I bought ₹1 lakh worth of shares, put in ₹25,000 myself and borrowed the remaining ₹75,000 through MTF.

As HDFC Sky's MTF interest rate at 12% per annum, or 1% per month. On ₹75,000 borrowed for 30 days, that comes to roughly ₹740–₹750 in interest, whereas on Upstox's Basic MTF plan the same amount uses a different calculation: ₹20 per day for every ₹40,000 borrowed. Since ₹75,000 falls across two slabs, the daily charge works out to ₹40. Over 30 days, that's ₹1,200.

So, the difference is about ₹450 for a month on the same borrowed amount. Stretch that over three 30-day months and the difference becomes roughly ₹1,350.

Brokerage, pledge and unpledge charges, taxes and other applicable fees need to be accounted for separately. Upstox also has a Plus plan with a different slab structure, so the comparison depends on which plan you're actually using.

The daily slab system is just less intuitive to compare with a straight annual interest rate, and I suspect plenty of people focus on the brokerage fee while overlooking the financing cost.

Posting 10 memes on Tai and PM wont help in deciding which stocks to buy or sell. Same with just rants on government's policies. Very limited discussion on direct stocks is happening in this sub. There are so many subs for discussion on government and individual political leaders.
