A few months ago I bought an RGRB620 to try out hydro dipping . This is the result. I also added small offset inlay dots and a fu-tone brass block. I'm quite happy with how it turned out 😁

I have to say, the instructions made no sense in terms of plain English, with that being said- this thing is amazing.

I’m going to buy a cheap eBay one and put it into my 550 and A/B them. The stability is amazing.

I figured that when the official model comes out there will most likely be a 7string version only so I decided to make myself a 6string version of this beauty.

I had the body and neck custom CNC made. I ordered the neck without frets and no inlays, routed the design by hand with a dremel tool and filled it with epoxy resin. It's far from perfect but I'm still really happy with how it turned out.

I picked this up for £100 because it had body damage so I just need a way to fix the paint work without spending too much money

Hey all! I just got my first Ibanez, couldn’t pass the RG565R in purple neon. Online pictures don’t make it justice, and is really hard to capture how it looks.

I have a question about the Edge bridge. I’m looking to mod this guitar for fun, so I’m wondering if I can use Floyd Rose bridge inserts to add some color to this. Specifically nut clamping screws, insert blocks, and string lock screws. Have anyone done this?

And pickup colors: neon green, purple or pink?

Some of you may remember that around a year ago I gave my TOD10 the "oil spill" look of Tim Henson's LA custom.

Unfortunately I missed one crucial step in the spraying process and recently the paint started to chip away in a few places and it was honestly painful to look at so I decided to mod it again but this time I told myself I'm gonna go all in and I'm gonna do it properly.

I hand-sanded the entire body and headstock all the way to the original finish and sprayed it with a glossy white base coat. I had a dilemma if I should go with the holographic paint again or if I should try something different and I decided to try an "opalescent" paint this time. This particular paint has blue, green, gold and pink reflections depending on the angle you look at it.

I also wasn't sure if this colour would work with chrome hardware so I replaced everything with black to give it more contrast and also went with a different wiring than the original TOD10. It now has a 3-way switch with an ON-ON-ON mini toggle to give me access to all 3 voices in all three positions. I also got rid of the tone pot because if it wasn't a push/pull I would've never touched it.

I've used this guitar to track all guitars on my songs... The Bareknuckle Aftermaths were such a great investment. The guitar sounds so much better, and the locking tuners really help with the tuning stability. I also changed the volume and tone knobs for something a bit more classic.

TL;DR: I'd like to get my Ibanez FRIX6 resprayed in flat black.

Here is a rough AI mockup of the before/after with my exact guitar.

I've got a luthier who has experience with resprays lined up.

Any tips?

I've already upgraded it with:

• Bare Knuckle Aftermath
• Bare Knuckle Stockholm HSP90
• Hipshot Ibby bridge

I own many RG-style guitars and this FR has a lot of potential, but the previous owner was honest enough to admit that he struggled to get a low action.

I've compared it to my RGR652 (which is stunning to play) and the FRIX6 has a flat neck pocket, versus a slight angle in the RGR652.

I've confirmed this by using a shim to correct the angle (and get lower action higher up the neck) but with the negative tradeoff of super-high saddles.

My luthier said this is a straightforward and logical modification, so she's going in for surgery.

While she's in, I'm considering a respray.

I love the FR shape, but the finish is more 'green' than grey in person.

I love matt/flat black.

He said the body should be straightforward, but the headstock will require a new logo and clearcoat etc.

Any tips on how to approach this in terms of paint/techniques?

I customised my EH10 with a rose gold finish ☺️

I wish Ibanez would bring the SA series back. They are quite underrated, imo. Arch top with a flat back. Andy Timmons based his first signature model on the SA and then moved on to the RG. This pretty girl has been in my stable since new. Purchased at Everthing Musical in Columbus, GA in 2003. She recently caught a new lease on life when I went full ham with some mods. Starting from the top... Sperzel locking tuners, graphite nut, Dimarzio Cruiser (recently swapped with white cover as is the Chopper), Chopper with a coil split in the center, and a Gravity Storm in the bridge slot with chromed metal ring. Modified SAT trem with brass saddles, Halo springs, and brass claw. Q-Parts mother-of-pearl topped brass knobs. Aluminum switch tip. Bourn pots with Treble King bleed and Orange Drop tone cap. Great guitar, plays nice and easy without a fight. Great tones and tonal variety. And looks the part with that gorgeous amber stained quilt. Just don't beat me up too bad over the blue DR strings. Its all I had for a restring.

Recently I came across a heavily discounted b-stock AZ427P2 which had a few dents in the finish and scratches on the headstock so I bought it with the goal to eventually mod it. For a while I couldn't decide what exactly to do with it until I found a cheap replacement neck for TOD70 and after resolving the dilemma of what colour to go with, this is the result.

Probably my most painful refinish but it turned out so great. I gave it a gold treatment with some Gotoh bridge and tuners and a set of Optima Gold plated strings.

If you look at any vintage guitar that had pink dimarzios stock, the pink has usually faded into a pale salmon color.

Seems like this happens quickly, possibly faster with more light exposure.

Is there a reason dimarzio hasn’t changed the formula? Is it for vintage aesthetics? Or is there some chemical reason why it’s difficult?

Do other companies pink pickups do the same thing?

Seems to only happen to pink. Green, blue, etc pickups maintain their color better over the years.

It’s a modified RG body with a Pro Line neck with a non-angled headstock, small dots and ebony fingerboard. Pickups wired in parallel. Assembly, wiring and finish done by Performance Guitar.

These are my 2 AZ 2402

The first one is a reworked AZ body finished in Moss Green satin that fits a Hipshot bridge instead of the Gotoh 510 trem, a set of Seymour Duncan JB/59, 1 P/P volume pot, 3 way toggle switch and Gotoh locking tuners.

The second one is a stock AZ refinished in Ivory Brown with Gibson speed knobs, chrome pus elector, mother-of-pearl tuning peg tip and neck inlays.

Custom made bone nut, Gotoh Locking tuners and bridge, EMG 75/66TW, new knobs, pots, switch & jack. Painted the pickup surrounds, they were a bad shade of silver. Love the yellowed binding from 2007. Burned the nut a bit when polishing it to match it up better.

Hey all, I'm seriously considering replacing the pickguard on my RG1451 with a HH one to give it some colour, maybe swap the pickups as well. What do I have to watch out for, e.g. are pickguard sizes uniform across RG models or is there some sort of variation? Any suggestions where to source one from? (UK)
