Question Confirmation Question

Post image

This is a long bodied horse, but my question is in regards to the loin. Is there any way to determine the loin length from a photo?

I meant conformation lol speak text…

This is either one of the worst conformation photos ever taken or one of the worst conformed horses ever bred.

It's definitely the horse. I suspect it's a qh halter x appendix type qh.

Horse needs to be standing square on flat ground. You need photos from the front and hind end of the horse to assess the condition of the legs.

Right now they’re standing in dirt, with their hind end parked out.

If that’s really “square” then I doubt that horse is going to age well in the next 5 years with how upright their hind pasterns are.

If this photo is an accurate representation of the horse's hind limb conformation and general posture (which it may not be, taking this type of photos well is hard), it looks like existing is kind of umcomfortable for her.

I would see if you can get better photos.

The way she's standing in the picture indicates she's camped out behind with a very straight stifle.

Lead her forward then stop her and let her stand however she stands naturally, then get a picture without trying to pose her.

You can’t really get a perfect estimation from a photo but you have to sort of visualize where the last set of ribs are and go from there.

That said the limbs- whether from conformation or stance- is creating an excess body length illusion here.
