Question Confirmation Question
This is a long bodied horse, but my question is in regards to the loin. Is there any way to determine the loin length from a photo?
I meant conformation lol speak text…

Over the past week or so, there's been a viral hot topic regarding the mustangs under BLM control and what the current US Administration is doing.
We initially allowed a few posts regarding this topic to stay up, but ultimately had to step in and lock them when the discussion went off the rails and was no longer about the horses, but instead was a forum of political discourse, insults, and violent threats. The comments in some posts got so unhinged that many were removed by the Reddit admins for violations of their ToS.
At this time, the topic and article has been reposted to our sub over 30 times. That's quite excessive.
First and foremost, we're a horse sub, not a political sub. While sometimes those two topics do intertwine, unfortunately, it often results in arguments, attacks, and unpleasantries.
The moderator team here at r/horses has made the decision to remove and lock all posts, reports, articles and etc. regarding the mustang situation. Unfortunately, we are volunteers, and we cannot moderate and keep up with hundreds of comments all day long, especially when they are unsavory in nature and end up wildly off topic with insults and frankly, horribly inappropriate and violent threats.
Thanks for your understanding with this.

Progressively we’re looking better!!
Please don’t judge the haircut, I cut it so that when her baldness grew back it would be somewhat even

I left their information in the screenshot so they get credit and I don't get copyrighted.
I just really thought this little mini was adorable with his little Halloween outfit

I have a photo shoot with my grey gelding early November and can get away with mane and tail washing. He won’t stand still for a dryer haha. Any tips and tricks to make him photo worthy when it gets so chilly 🥶? Thanks!

The Equine Disease Communication Center has posted confirmed strangles cases this October in Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan and Kansas, a few at boarding barns with lots of exposed horses. Sharing the basics in case anyone is moving horses or bringing in new ones this fall.
First sign is usually fever (often 103°F+), then thick white/yellow snot and swollen glands under the jaw. Some horses cough or struggle to swallow.
Quarantine checklist (from state ag and vet guidance):
- New horses separate for 21 days, no nose-to-nose contact
- Their own buckets, tack and tools
- Take temps daily during quarantine, twice daily if there's an outbreak
- Disinfect water buckets daily
- Do chores for healthy horses first, sick ones last
Recovered horses can stay contagious for weeks, and some become silent carriers, so ask your vet about testing before they go back out.
How does your barn handle new arrivals?

I'm starting to get worried. Her heaves are exactly the same after starting treatment.
I think I'd like to try the handheld nebulizer first.
The reason I dont want to jump to the big machine (sorry forgot the name) is because she is still very very green and I worry about something happening where she spooks and hurts herself or break equipment, with that said if thats the only option I guess I have no choice.

Sometimes he runs through the sprinkler then rolls in the sand. Other times he looks ethereal in the early morning sun. He is a friendly sweetheart.

Just want to show off and brag a bit about my handsome boy! First full body clip and he couldn't of been more perfect. Stood like a rock for his legs, only needed ear balls in to do his ears and face. Not sure how i won the best horse to clip lottery.

Yesterday me and a couple of friends visited a farm in my city we saw a bunch of animals and I saw a couple of horses. Meet a light brown Clydesdale. They were standing at a fence eating grass out of people's hands. I tried to scratch their chest since a sign said that they liked it. But they were more interested in eating. They felt gentle but seemed to have alot of power behind them they moves their head back and forward to eat the grass people were offering them. Surprised he could eat so much.
There was also a Fresian horse near by but they were further back grazing so I didn't interact with them. Seemed more reserved
I also meet a couple of cows and they kicked my hand. Felt like sandpaper which was kind of surprising since I expected their tounge to be soft.
I have video but im unsure about posting them here since im in them.

I got my horse 6 years ago. She was a breeding mare of 6 and had never ridden. But I loved her so!
I broke her in myself and for a while we were going strong. She spooked easily but we could work together.
And then it all fell apart. I had the wrong trainer. I trusted them more than my own gut feeling. They rode Grand Prix so they knew what they were doing right?
She became an absolute nightmare. I was scared to get on. She would run buck, stop, turn. I couldn’t handle her. My trainer did groundwork with her, she attacked the trainer ( allegedly I wasn’t there ) and we both got kicked of the property.
The next stable told me to sell her. The whole stable ganged up on me. Telling me I was wasting my time and talent. Sell her, get rid of her.
They started to refuse to turn her out so we left again.
For some reason I couldn’t, wouldn’t give up on her.
We did TRT. We finally found a stable that was willing to work with her drama. She had massive fear of abandonment ( as the previous stable was scared to take her out they would leave her behind, so she would freak out making them even more scared of her)
They found her a friend and they are willing to take her in and out with her friend.
She has calmed down. She has learned to be away from her friend. Nobody is scared of her anymore and nobody even believes me when I tell them people were.
Our riding had massively improved. We get oohs and aahs and people admire her gaits.
We hack together, we even go out just the two of us and she is fine.
She is exactly what I expected her to be and I am so happy she turned out this way. I love her so much and I always knew she was this horse. She is smart and sweet and she wants to work for me.
How we turned it around? Good saddle, good physical therapy, patient stable, patient trainer and not staying at a barn where people keep trash talking my horse!
We are so happy together now
