Need a little advice setting toilet on wax ring

Hi everyone,

I installed a toilet with a jumbo wax ring, however I discovered it was leaking by putting a paper under the base as it got wet, but no visible water was coming out.

I think when I set the toilet down onto the wax ring, I didn’t get a good seal and centered as the toilet base was slightly crooked on the wax ring. It was hard as the toilet is heavy and I can’t really see what I’m doing under the toilet base while setting it down.

I was told by a plumber and research that I should set the wax ring down first onto the flange, then put the toilet down. Should I be putting the wax ring onto the base first?

Any advice I can get how to properly set a toilet on the wax ring without causing a leak? Thanks

Would you actually use a height-adjustable dining table? Is it versatile?

I've been looking at dining tables and came across this electric height-adjustable one, and I'm trying to figure out whether this is the kind of feature I genuinely use or something that sounds better in theory.

Most of the time I'd probably keep it at regular dining height, but I can imagine raising it when friends are over for drinks or when we're setting out food for a bigger gathering.

I'm also curious to see if the "adjustable height" feature might inspire other uses, such as deploying it for different activities.

Would the adjustable height make this more useful in your house, or would you probably just leave it at dining height most of the time?

Painting these cabinets or else?

I really dislike the look of our kitchen. Reading through this sub, it sounds like painting these cabinets would propel me straight to hell. What else could I do to make the kitchen look more up to date?

Disposal right next to the P-trap, where do I tie in an RO drain?

Planning an under sink RO install. I had viomib6w and it should fit fine, but the drain connection has me staring under the sink like an idoit.

I've got a garbage disposal on one side, the dishwasher hose already runs into it, and the drain heads into the P-trap almost right after the disposal outlet. There's basically none of that nice clean section of pipe you see in RO installation diagrams.

I could probably squeeze a saddle in somewhere if the only goal was finding enough plastic to drill into.

That's not really what I'm worried about. I've seen people mention RO drain lines getting gunked up, and depending on where the connection sits, it might drip and gurgle too. No idea how common that is, but hearing water every time the RO runs would get old fast.

A few people suggested changing the tailpiece or moving the trap a little, so there's a cleaner spot for the drain. It sounded like overkill until I actually got under there and saw how little room there is. Now replacing one cheap section of drain pipe sounds a lot better than drilling wherever the saddle happens to fit and hoping for the best.

Anyone dealt with a disposal this close to the P-trap? Did you change the drain layout first, or find a spot that worked as-is?

My circuit breaker keeps tripping when the dryer and AC run together, is that a panel problem?

Trying to figure out whether this is something I can live with or if I need to call an electrician. The pattern is pretty consistent: the breaker trips when the dryer is running and the AC kicks on within a minute or two. Either one works fine on its own, but when both run together, the AC breaker trips within a few minutes around two-thirds of the time.

A few details:

1996 house, 200 amp panel, and the breakers look original.

The dryer and AC are on separate breakers, which is what has me confused.

It's the AC breaker that trips, not the dryer.

There's no burning smell, discolouration, or noticeable warmth around the panel.

If they are on separate circuits, I am not sure why running both would cause this. Does this usually point to a worn breaker, or could something else be going on?

Hinge pin identification

Post image

Hi
I need to remove storm door so I can repair lockset issue. My question is this a specific hinge pin that is flattened by the installer ? This door was installed in 2009 after a break in. I can’t find the company that installed or manufactured the door.

Are these hinge pins removable ? If so how can I remove them? Cut off the flat section and replace with standard pins?

Any thoughts

Staining stairs - looks blotchy.

The stairs are red oak and the contractor is staining them 50% special walnut and 50% natural (to lighten the special walnut). The landing hasn’t been stained yet but it looks like everything else has. And it looks super blotchy.

I’ve worked with this contractor on lots of things and he always does great work so that’s why I’m wondering if I just need to trust the process or if this is a bad sign?

Is one german cockroach a cause for concern?

So I bought some things from good will, and didn't vet them well enough. I left those items on the kitchen counter for awhile. Then the next day early in the morning I found one German cockroach crawling on the counter, I wasnt able to kill it.

I found what it hitched a ride on, a small glass vase that was very hard to see into. I saw what looked to be Roach droppings.

Ive already started putting out roach traps all over the house. Because i hate bugs and am very paranoid about an infestation happening.

Hi everyone! Looking for some ideas to make my bedroom feel warmer, cozier, and more put together!

I’m renting, so I’d like to work with the existing furniture and dark accent wall. I’d love suggestions for bedding colours, artwork (including the pieces pictured), lighting, and anything else that would make the space feel more inviting.

Going for a cozy, feminine, modern look without overdoing it. Open to all ideas! Thanks!

I’m sick of looking at this stupid thing!!!

This thing is in my front yard, and I hate looking at it. It’s the cover for my internet cables, so I can’t remove it, but spectrum will only come out if there’s a problem, so I could get creative. I’m going to clean up the brush around it and it’s going to be more exposed. I have a 3d printer so I was thinking about painting it and turning it into a gnome apartment building. Any ideas how I can make this look better?

What makes your home feel like a place where you can properly relax?

After a long day, there's something nice about getting home and finally having a moment to yourself. Sometimes, all you need is a comfortable sofa, a quiet corner to sit in, or a place to put your feet up and forget about the day's stress for a while.

I've been thinking about how much the furniture we choose can affect how comfortable our homes feel, especially when we're juggling work, family and other daily responsibilities. That makes me to take a look at this brand zero healthcare malaysia is a wellness brand that offers massage chairs and other home comfort products. The company has recently introduced its new Nova II Massage Chair, which comes with different massage programmes, foot rollers and warmth for the lower back and calves. I patronize them and guess what, they suprised me more than my Imaginaton. They got nothing but the best, their product is very soft and comfortable to make use of. I enjoyed taking look at their brand and making use of it. It makes me agreed having a massage chair at home is worth the investment, especially for people who want more options for relaxing without leaving the house.

Would you consider getting a massage chair for your home, or do you feel your existing furniture does the job just fine?

I'd love to hear what makes a real difference to your comfort at home.

Anyone in Hartford gone through the Energize CT heat pump process start to finish?

I've read the program website. Now I want the version from someone who went through it in Hartford. How long from first call to working system? Surprise steps or costs? Did the rebate show up and when? I like knowing what im walking into before I start.
