Living Room Chair/Coffee Table Quandary

Thumbnail gallery

Hi everyone, I’m going to play the single dad card here and ask that you go easy on me.

I just replaced a tattered titanic of a sectional with this green leather couch (pictured.) i had hoped to get a recliner in cognac or camel or something. Before I do that, i was trying to see if this old orange recliner and ottoman might work in this space. This living room is a spatial nightmare.

Two things.

1) does this orange chair/ottoman work in this space, or should i get a recliner?
2) should i burn this uncooperative coffee table with a flamethrower, or throw it off a cliff?

Excuse the mess and lack of staging. Just trying things out. Appreciate any guidance.

Bedroom Chosing my son's first big bed

Post image

Well be moving our son to his first big kid bed in the next 6 months. His room is small, 9x10' so his bed will be in the corner of the room. We're also tight for space so storage is a must.

Opinions on the bed photo attached?

Other Interior Room What to do with awkward small entryway?

I’m ashamed to say I bought my parents house and have been here for 5 years and have STILL not gotten to the point where I can say the house feels like my own. I have some spaces that are more my style, pink walls, mural in progress, yellow and green couches, leaning funky but most of the spaces are not. I’ve had a coat rack/shoe rack with some star lights in front of the AC vent there but I got super sick of it bulging into the tiny space we have and broke it down today. The goal is to replace the window panes next to the door with stained glass and the door itself eventually but probably not in the super near future.

Any ideas how to make this space more aesthetic and usable?

(Obviously will be doing a deep clean now that I moved that shoe rack and stuff! )

Dining Room Wallpaper regrets

After getting wallpaper installed, I am not liking it. It reads far more pink than the sample which is a richer red (last picture). I want the room to feel warm and cozy.

Any ideas to make this work? or should I paint or repaper? Any ideas appreciated!

We have a wood hutch and dining room table going in here.

Hello, my living room has a boob light and also some recessed lighting. Should I replace the book light or get rid of it? Planning to put a dimmer on the recessed lighting.

Bedroom Help me make my small bedroom feel cozy!

Hi everyone! Looking for some ideas to make my bedroom feel warmer, cozier, and more put together!

I’m renting, so I’d like to work with the existing furniture and dark accent wall. I’d love suggestions for bedding colours, artwork (including the pieces pictured), lighting, and anything else that would make the space feel more inviting.

Going for a cozy, feminine, modern look without overdoing it. Open to all ideas! Thanks!

Other Interior Room Help me stop making questionable paint decisions

Turning this basement into a games room and I’m losing a fight with paint colours. I tried Pale Oak without testing because I lack critical thinking, and it looks horrible very gray and flat. What colour would you paint this room? I’m open to anything! I just want it to feel cozy. The first picture is with pale oak and the second is what it originally looked like

I’m unsure of the dimensions, but I’ve included photos of the open living/dining room floor plan from three different point of views.

I’m planning on shopping for a new sofa and tv stand tomorrow, so I’m open to any and all suggestions.

Thank you for your help :)

Moved into this rental apartment with a wet room (Toilet+Shower) in the kitchen how to make this a practical living space

I think this house has a lot of potential.

My plan is to divide the living room with standing curtains so the kitchen/Laundry/Toilet/Bathroom is separate.

Any advice?🙏

Bedroom Advice needed

I have dark wood floors as in bottom first Pic. The side walls are covered by a row of white wardrobes (bottom left of second pic). I have the wallpaper and wainscotting for the wall bed will go against. The bed sits in between two large windows. I purchased two unfinished dressers to use as nightstands (middle pine from second pic). I was originally planning on painting it white and staining the top the colour of bed, but I think I really want to paint it yellow like the example in second Pic. There is yellow in the wallpaper and hints of yellow in the carpet. Would this work?

Living Room Kitchen and living room color scheme?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Moving into a new home with a toddler and starting over from scratch re: furniture. I'm unsure how to navigate the color scheme of our kitchen/living area... Something about the balance of cool vs. warm tones feels off. The last pic is truer to the actual color and lighting.

Currently crowdsourcing suggestions on the following:

  1. Couch color?

  2. Any recommendations for fun/bright/unique living room rugs?

  3. Would changing the fireplace and/or kitchen backsplash help to bring things together? What would you do?

I'm tired of the minimalistic greige aesthetic, and my ultimate goal is for our toddler to think back on our home and remember being surrounded by color and personality and LIFE! 🥹 Thanks in advance! Any suggestions welcome!

Living Room Trying to decide between desk or shelving unit in living room.

Thumbnail gallery

As the title says, I am trying to decide between a shelving unit or desk for our living room.

Some info -

Living in a 1 bedroom apartment. So space is a bit limited and trying to get everything laid out in the best looking and most practical locations. We do entertain friends and family about 3-4 times per month.

Currently have a shelving unit in this location. If we decide to keep a shelving unit there, we will be purchasing a new more open shelved unit.

The desk is currently in our bedroom which isn’t super ideal but we can live with it as that’s the way it’s been for a couple months. It’s also in front of a window which causes a lot of glare during day time use.

The desk is primarily used for gaming, and doing some school work. It gets used 4-5 times per week, for a few hours each session. The shelving unit just holds some small lamps, books and other decor items.

I’ve attached examples of both layouts (the desk photo is AI generated, but it’s exactly the same desk, chair, pegboard etc that we have).

Bedroom What color bed sheets (duvet/pillow/etc) would go well with this?

Thumbnail gallery

The two framed artworks will be go directly above the bed relative to the spots they are in. Curtains are blue floral, bed and headboard are walnut (broyhill brasilia), nightstands are white wood (likely changed down the road), and rug in the last photo. Really struggling to figure out what color/pattern (or lack thereof) to go with here, hoping for something cool toned and muted to give the room a cozy feel. At a loss here as to what will pull it all together without being the star of the show.

Note: it’s a king size bedframe split into two Twin XL mattresses which has presented an additional challenge in finding proper bedding. Became a European style bed convert after 3 years in Germany

Bedroom Looking for advice! I want to re-do my room

Looking into a bigger bed (outgrew mine) but im on the fence about a taller/shorter bed. I feel like I have a lot going on and nothing seems to blend together well. Open to a loft to free up more floor space, but a lower bedframe seems like itd be less of a hassle to climb in/out of. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Home Office Space Help with desk placement

I am trying to figure out how to place my desk in this room. I would like to be able to see the window in some way, right now I have my back to the door. Even living alone, it still doesn't feel ideal. I've rearranged 12,000 times and can't decide what to do.
