HealthyHooha Update 2026

EDIT:
TLDR - Don't be a transphobe. Don't be a creep. Mods are being recruited. Add user flair. <3

Hello Healthy Hooha community! We hope everyone is thriving.

We wanted to check in with everyone and offer a few reminders and acknowledgements.

·       This is intended to be a safe, inclusive place for vaginal health. Trans individuals are welcome here. Bigotry, nastiness, and rule breaking will result in comment/post removal and a ban. We have additional resources in the sidebar regarding trans health.

·       There are creepers here. They may DM you inappropriately or leave comments with a fetishizing tone. Flag their comments and report them to us, and we will ban them, as this is against sub rules. HOWEVER, please keep in mind, that banning them does not stop them from viewing the community and DMing users. It only stops them from posting and commenting.

·       To that end, we are making a concerted effort to increase monitoring of the subreddit. On the one hand, there’s only so much we can do to avoid inappropriate content/comments, short of making the subreddit private (more on that in a moment). On the other, we can improve our modding efficiency using the tools available to us – and have been making strides to do so.

·       We are recruiting more moderators to help with this. We acknowledge that the sub has been undermoderated lately.  Our vision with moderating going forward is to moderate in “real time”, meaning avoiding having to wait for troublesome comments to get flagged and instead remove them before it becomes necessary. If you are interested in modding, please see the application form. The existing mods are establishing vetting guidelines and will recruit accordingly.

·       We’ve occasionally noticed comments asking why this sub isn’t private. Our vision for this sub from the beginning was to make vaginal health visible and accessible – a place where we can share our struggles, commiserate, and feel less alone. Privatizing the sub, in our opinion, is counter to that goal. But we also understand that this makes creepers and fetishists more likely to invade a space that isn’t for them. With an increase in moderation and moderator tools, we hope to combat this and keep vaginal health visible and accessible to those who need it.

·       Consider doing searches for commonly posted topics. As a reminder, photos are technically allowed but in all honesty are rarely helpful, and no one here can give true medical advice.

We are also going to be testing a new feature - designated some posts as Flaired User Only posts. This will restrict comments to users who have added flair from this community. Mods will be using this at our discretion to limit comments to flaired community members only. We think this will be helpful in limiting off topic, fetishizing, or otherwise inappropriate comments.

We thank everyone for their patience, and for your involvement and support in making this a reliable safe community. Wishing everyone well!

-your healthyhooha mod team

HealthyHooha Community Check In

Hello to our beautiful community! We wanted to check in, provide updates, and answer some FAQs/give clarification.

  1. Banning users - We often get modmails reporting users that are requesting DMs and/or being creeps. We'd like to clarify that we can and do ban users that do this. It should be noted however, that banning them does not stop them from viewing the sub and DMing users. It only stops them from posting and commenting. The only way to actually keep people from viewing the sub is by going private - something we've always been committed to not doing in order to keep it accessible for those who need it. If you notice someone soliciting DMs/photos in posts or comments, please continue to report and modmail. We highly recommend directly blocking anyone who actually sends you unwanted DMs.

  2. Crossposts ARE allowed, but they get caught by our AutoMod filters we have in place. We have to manually approve them. Same with any sort of link/photo even if they are not NSFW. We have this in place to avoid NSFW photos showing up in users' feeds.

  3. We will be recruiting more mods soon. We are in process of coming up with screening questions/application for approval. Higher education credentials strongly preferred. Stay tuned for the mod application.

Thanks for you patience with us and for making this a beautiful, supportive, inclusive community. Happy holiday season to all, however you celebrate.

My pad ended up on the sidewalk

I simply cannot do pads anymore after this event. I usually wear tampons when I’m out and about and period underwear when I’m home, but my two pairs unfortunately ripped. I was sitting on the patio on the day after my period technically ended, but I was playing it safe. I felt something irritating me between my thighs, sliding down my leg. I have very thick thighs, and I wiggled on the sidewalk by my porch. It was late at night and I was heading to my car to grab something before heading to bed. So I wiggle and loosen whatever is irritating me. I honestly thought it was a stick or paper towel or something. I was honestly so dry I didn’t even remember I had a pad in. Anyways. I have work early in the morning, so I headed to work at 4am, pad unseen. I get back at 11am absolutely mortified to see my pad on the sidewalk tangled and squished into a tube, lying right by my porch.

I’ve made this decision after years of my pads ending up across the room the next day. But this takes it to a new level.

That’s all.

help me please

• Upvotes

hello everyone! i had potentially unprotected sex around 20 days ago and it was my first time. i took a morning after pill 6-8 hours after and got my period 10 days early. my period finished on the 18th, and i havent had any symptoms untill a few days ago.

my urine is a little cloudy, and i have burning around my vaginal opening, but not while i urinate. the burning is not persistent, it is there sometimes and i feel like it got better over the past few days. i suppose that this might be due to dryness or irritation. i **need any kind of advice on what you think this might be.**

also, if you are wondering how on earth i have no idea if the sex was unprotected, it was not consentual. i have no idea how on earth i made him use a condom at some point at all, and i have no idea if the penetration happened without it.

Bad odour! HELP.

For as long as I can remember I’ve had a REALLY bad odour down there. It’s a horrible musky smell but it can be strong to the point I can smell it when I’ve got clothes on.

I’m F29 this started in high school. I shower, good diet etc. I’ve been doctors more times than I can count, I’ve been tested for so much and always come back negative!

My partner has never said anything about it but if I can smell it I know he can.

I’ve had BV once but every other time nothing, after I shower the smell is gone for like an hour and starts coming back! I really hate it and and I don’t know what to do. The last time I spoke to a nurse she basically just said that could be my natural smell😭😭

Question What is this ?

• Upvotes

I had raw sex with my boyfriend on the last day of my period like 3 days ago, he didn’t cum Inside and nothing hurts, I just had slight urge to itch around trough my underwear by the opening like yesterday but that’s gone now and i have noticed that any time few days after raw sex if I put my finger in and take it out it is coated in this thick, kinda sticky but not slimy and white Korean face cream consistency, it doesn’t stink really it’s very neutral but it’s not like my usual vagina usually I don’t have a thick cream gluey like consistency in there. What could it be and how do I keep my ph balanced ? I won’t use condoms it’s a turn off for me personally also to mention he’s the only partner I’ve ever been with

Advice Needed Lube recommendations pls🙏🏻

• Upvotes

Hello, I’m 20F and looking for beginner friendly lube recommendations for myself that i can buy in-store in Berlin like DM, Rossman. My partner uses latex condom fyi and although I have read a lot of posts about buying lube, I don’t really see much about what people from Germany are using mostly as a safe and convenient choice. I only want to buy it in-store and my budget is around €15 so i’d love to get some advices from you.

(Also i’m not allergic to anything but my partner is allergic to aloe vera)

Sorry for my english in advance and thank you very much!

[edit; also i felt like explaining why i need it. I tend to get wet a lot but it takes time and i’m pretty tight down there. When we did it for the first time (four months ago) and actually nowadays as well, his d wouldn’t fit in me although i’m relaxed and wet. My partner is pretty gentle and patient but we just simply wanted to try lube for better pleasure:) We don’t plan to use it everytime.]

Rant 🤬 Botched labiaplasty 18years ago

Botched labiaplasty 18 years ago

My life has been like living in a nightmare since a doctor amputated my labia and stole my sensation from me as a 15 year old child.

As a teenager I thought I needed fixing, no one taught me that women were all different shapes down there. Thought I needed surgery to be loved.

Now I can never ever know the feeling of connecting with someone sexually without trauma and pain. I had so much pleasurable sensation before the op. That loss and the ability to feel whole as a woman is unmeasurable grief. My vulva isn't my own.

There is no fix as they amputated me completely. Living with the loss is unbearable.

Now my body is broken and all I feel is numbness or pain there. It's taken my lust for life as a whole, life feels meaningless without desire and the drive that makes us human. Am like a zombie.

Life is driven by sex and creation. I'm a shell of a person.

I love my family and friends but it's exhausting living for other people when I am in a mental hell every day.

Advice Needed Never been given hooha hygiene help in all of my 30 years.

Hello, all!

Just a bit of a warning, my post is going to be a bit about everything, so I apologize if it feels everywhere. I'll try to bullet point my main questions. You don't need to answer them all.

I'm 30 F and have been a chubby/fat girl all my life. Yes, all my life. Never been skinny, never had an inkling of a skinny phase, just been straight up fat. I had never been given hygiene tips growing up and I don't know if it was because my mom was uncomfortable or to her (cause I know how she is), hygiene should come as common sense and naturally to me.

Growing up, probably past my first period, I noticed I began to develop a smell down there. I washed as good as I thought I did, but sometimes the smell lingered and I'd get embarassed because I could literally smell it on myself. Around middle school - early high school, I began to notice that I'd have urine stains throughout the day on my underwear. So, I began to wear panty liners. Which I did suspect it's because of my weight.

I also began to explore myself down there and noticed that my external labia is fat. Like, huge? It covers the entirety of my inner labia, clit, urethra and my vagina. Just a slit from top down to my crack. One lip is longer than the other, it's dark down there and honestly, I was pretty disgusted with it for a long time. Of course, at the same time, I had been watching porn and seeing such pristine, picture perfect hooha's made me WILDLY insecure. In retrospect, as an adult, I realize how phony most of them were but I guess, seeing that as a young teen really messed with my view of my own body.

While in this exploration phase, I noticed that my inner labia, clit and urethra regions seems to be sensitive to the touch. Ultra sensitive. In "inspecting" myself deeper, I noticed white, hard bits clinging beneath the hood of my clit. After much research, have come to find that it's smegma and it SMELLS. I remember being so relieved that now I knew where the smell was coming from (aside from the sweat that naturally occurs around the folds and maybe even the slow leak of urine on top of that). But trying to pull everything back, including the hood feels kind of painful. Again, sensitive. I don't know how often these bits of smegma form and honestly, it's annoying that I have to keep finding time in my days to sit down and dig for buried treasure.

Because of this smelly nuisance, I never done anything sexual with anyone. The thought of sex and oral pleasure actually makes me so horrified and devastated, I just never approached anyone. In fact, the thought of other people seeing my hooha actually puts me into a state of severe panic. On top of that, I had NEVER visited a gyno ever, up until recently.

I did actually see them a month ago for abnormal bleeding causing anemia and they wanted to do a transvaginal ultrasound and a pap smear in the same day (for a seperate appointment date). I said no. A hard no. But for some reason, my Gyno kept slyly and soft pressuring me into doing it but I got annoyed and stood firm in not wanting a pap smear. I knew the risks. I know. As for the ultrasound, I asked for an abdominal but because I'm overweight, they said it might not be effective. I even told them that I'd be willing to pay for an pelvic MRI instead, but they ignored(?) me.

I am in the process of switching my care over because I truly did feel uncomfortable during my first ever gyno appointment. Also, I told them I had never had any sexual activity with anyone and they seemed to have not believed me??? I actually had a pcp a few years back scoff and laugh at the fact that I never had sex.

But, I digress.

Most of what I learned on my own has been through forums, youtube and reddit all throughput my life. I feel like I'm not doing enough and honestly, I've gone the stages of grief that I know I'll never allow anyone to see my hooha but me and even I'm repulsed by it.

Here are my questions:

  1. How are you cleaning the clitoral/hood region if it's so sensitive it hurts?

  2. Are most gynocologists this pushy or did I just land on a bad one?

  3. What are the best soaps for the external regions? Unscented soap? Soap at all?

  4. Are you guys cleaning the inner labia parts with soap or just water?

  5. Is darkness down there truly normal? I'm fair skinned, so it makes me feel like I'm dirty or something.

  6. Do wipes help throughout the day?

  7. How do you deal with incontienence issues?

  8. What is the best hair trimmer that's knickless and for sensitive skin?

I know, it's a lot. But I'd rather ask all my fellow hooha's on than continue to just do nothing about it. Again, no need to answer every question. If one question stands out to you, that's more than enough for me.

Thank you all so much! 🩷

Question First time using Metrogel, post-treatment questions

Context: I completed 5 day treatment of metro gel(2 nights ago), then the next day I did the vagibiom probiotic suppository(yesterday), and have also been taking azo mini chews everyday.

1- I know that it’s common to get yeast infection after, at the moment I have no symptoms of that. If I was to get a yeast infection would it be by now or can it come days after?

2- During metrogel treatment I had the common white clumpy discharge, but not an excessive amount. The last day I have been off it I have had little to no discharge. How long until it all flushes out? I know you have to wait 7 days to have sex, so since i haven’t had much discharge I’m paranoid that white clumpy discharge will still be in there after the 7 days then come out during sex… would they be any way to “clean it out” I guess?

3- I know you can’t have penetrative sex for the 7 days, would it be safe to do external touching prior to the 7 days? Like 3 days after last treatment?

Periods and a bush

Just got my birth control taken out and I have started getting my first few periods after 4 years of not having them… although I used to be able to handle them before I hate tampons so I opt for pads, however… I also prefer to keep either a bush or a heart shaped shrub. However the pads keep trying to give me a wax so last night i just decided to go bald i couldn’t take it anymore it was constantly pulling at me. MY PUH LOOKS NAKED AND I HATE IT😭 all confidence flew out the window I have rough razor bumps and now I would literally have to wait 4ish weeks until I can even remotely get back to how healthy my skin in the area was. Now for my questions… HOW DO WE PREVENT ANY SORT OF RAZOR BURN DOWN THERE??? and secondly is there anything I can do to not get a wax every time I wear a pad???

Question Feminine Washing

Hello to all that have vulvas to wash. I've been having the worst time with vulvar irritation. My skin around my labia has become so dry and sensitive and I'm not sure what to do. Yeast and other infections have been ruled out so I'm thinking it is just a matter of skin irritation. It's so bad that my go to Dove Sensitive seems to even dry and irritate things further. I have been working out more regularly and new work uniform pants are not as moisture wicking as I would like. Sweat and friction seem to be causing the irritation and then my skin becomes chaffed and try. Currently, I'm using La Roche Posay Cicloplast 1-2 times a day as a barrier and moisturizer but I'm up for any suggestions on how to get things healed and supple again. I'm considering ditching soap completely and just washing/rinsing with plain lukewarm water. I also keep seeing suggestions for using coconut oil.

For those that only use water, do you smell and feel clean enough after? TMI, I also am very pro pubic hair so take that into consideration too as far as possibly holding onto sweat and odor.

Love and appreciate any feedback or personal experiences.

Is this normal? 👀 extra horny phase after having sa flashbacks?

i have quite the collection of sa experiences and some which i have dissociated from and/or dont remember. theyve recently started coming back to me in the form of emotional flashbacks or some visions in nightmares etc

my body kinda trembles and shakes during those episodes however i am not sure what they exactly symbolize. it might be my body reliving the experience, while releasing the pain of the past. at least thats what it feels like, i think

now whats weird (and has been very fun at the same time for me and my bf) is that the past week, after those episodes, i have been abnormally horny (like ik i get horny horny but this is like horny^100) and i literally can’t stop being feral asf.

is it normal for my body to feel like this after experiencing flashbacks?

Question Clitoral tear - how to care for it??

Hey guys! I tore the side of my clitoris on the lower side of it due to a few things. Being rubbed over the clothes too roughly while wearing a skort that rode up. AND frequently pulling back my clitoral hood to clean it and get rid of any smegma or discharge. I pull it back 2-3 times a day and also when I masturbate/ receiving oral - so basically I pull it back a lot. The tear is where the smegma would have come out. I don’t have a lot of it. But now I have more bad smells and some itching where the wound is (but no bleeding). And my clitoral hood is a bit swollen where it makes contact with the clitoris.

I now know that applying lipgloss (in a moment of desperation in a public toilet…), papaya ointment and silicone lube on it is probably not a good idea. How do I make sure it doesn’t get infected or is it so normal that that’s not a big issue? I see someone about it tomorrow. This has been going on since the 23rd but I noticed it on the 25th.

weird bacon smell (???)

I'm overreacting a little but my privates recently had a strange bacon smell. It's been only a day, but it's abnormal. I currently am sick with a sore throat & a fever. I have only been drinking Coke & ice since that's all I have in my dorm, which I know probably influenced the smell some way, but it's a odd reaction and want to make sure I don't have an UTI or any other infection. My upper right of my pelvis also hurts whenever I lay on it or press on the area.

What I did to clear up my yeast infection

DISCLAIMER: I am not a health care professional. I am not giving any medical advice. This is what worked for my body.

During May-July I was getting yeast infections back to back. Fortunately I knew what the cause was (my sexual partner at the time.) I tried lots of things to prevent them before they started.
- encouraging him to wash before I came over
-showers after being with him
-stopped wearing underwear completely
-making sure I was always dry after peeing
-washing sheets & nighttime wear every 3 days

there was a few more like adjusting my diet and other things but I would always get a yeast infection after being with him. I decided I was done going to the clinic and was going to do something at home.

I bought boric acid and organic apple cider vinegar.
I tried the boric acid pill first and the next day my
symptoms were almost all gone, the next day everything was cleared. Didn’t need the apple cider vinegar

Last week Friday, I got a yeast infection, how? not sure. I tried the boric acid pill again, did it at night then saturday night I checked to see if things were looking better, nope. Saturday night, took another boric acid. I decided to try to apple cider vinegar bath Sunday morning before my busy day. I didn’t measure just poured with my heart, sat in there for about 10-15 minutes because I was in a rush and ended up taking a shower (some say it’s better to let the diluted acv sit on your skin & recommend to sit for 15-25 minutes.) Something else, I was washing vagina/shower when I woke up and before I went to bed while always making sure I was dry. Honestly Monday I cba to even check, just washed up morning and night and went on about my life crossing my fingers everything was okay. I check today, everything is back to normal and I’m just really happy especially since Halloween is coming up.

I think the acv bath really did the trick for me, even though boric acid is a huge factor as well. I also did not wear underwear at all even with the discharge, yes call me crazy. It was a bit weird sometimes because the discharge is very very liquidly but I wanted my vagina to breathe as much as possible. I changed my sheets and washed my nighttime clothes as well.

Is this normal? 👀 I’m not sure what this is but I’m panicking

Hi guys, so I’m currently in full panic mode. Before I even start, YES, I have already scheduled an appointment with an OBGYN to get tested for everything under the sun. I have been having unprotected sex with my boyfriend, and I’ve noticed that I get yeast infections sometimes after sex. I did end up getting what I felt what a yeast infection again due to the thick white discharge and itching recently but this time, these small bumps appeared and now I’m panicking. I had been scratching myself really hard because it was definitely itching really baldy. I used Monistat when I first felt like I had the yeast infection to help with the itching. After about 2-3 days of using the Monistat I no longer feel any irritation or itching at all. I clean daily and have been drinking plenty of water. I’ll try and upload some photos too (I’m still trying to figure out how to do it without getting it taken down by the mods). Has anyone experienced this before?

Again, I am scheduled to visit an OBGYN. Also, just in case it’s important, he doesn’t finish inside of me or anything. I just felt like maybe he was throwing off my PH balance. I’m praying that it’s nothing serious but I’m really panicking and have been internet giving for dayssss and only scaring myself more. My appointment isn’t until next week so I have too much time on my hands.

Sudden dryness - Lactomedi or estrogen the culprit?

Maybe 5 months ago I started using more consistently Lactomedi to prevent infections (I’ve had a history of ureaplasma 3x). I also started using vaginal estradiol only at the entrance to my lady bits because I tear a lot down there and have a hypertonic floor that acts up sometimes. I’ve used Lactomedi here and there in the past but I’m wondering if me using it after sex 2x per week is causing the burning and dryness now inside. I read estrogen can do that if your tissues are bad but I don’t have atrophy and never had issues inside before.

Birth Control 🚫👶🏼 Getting emergency copper IUD tomorrow and extremely nervous

I had unprotected sex (stupid one time mistake) this past weekend when I didn't realize I was ovulating that week (Flo app predicted my ovulation day to be 2 days before I had sex). He never finished inside me at all but I worry about precum. I took a plan B one step the next day but decided to schedule an emergency copper IUD insertion for tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be 4 days after I had sex, so I'm worried that pushes it too close to the 5 day window you have for emergency insertion to prevent pregnancy.

I've been a nervous wreck all day. I hope this works as it's my last chance. Also just scared of the insertion process and potential complications. I could use any reassurance anyone has as I don't have anyone else in my life that I can currently talk about this with besides my boyfriend. Anyone else with a similar experience? How did it turn out for you?

8 weeks of constant burning and irritation

8 weeks ago I got a UTI, 5 days of Keflex later and I got a yeast infection. Used monistat for 7 days. 2 days after that, I got my period, 5 days into my period I noticed the burning/irritation/itching I had during my yeast infection was back. OB prescribed diflucan, did nothing. Went to urgent care- negative vaginitis panel and negative urine. Went back to OB- another negative vaginitis panel, rx’d diflucan. No improvement. Went back to OB again, another negative vaginitis panel. The OB has noted that the opening of my vagina is red, raw and inflamed. I have since tried Allegra, Zyrtec, Vaseline, Clobetasol, Lidocaine, aquaphor.
The lidocaine cuts the pain down but not by much. The Clobetasol is definitely not working.
The pain and itching flare up BAD every couple days but between those days it’s bearable. All my products are fragrance and allergy-free. Cotton underwear only.
This is affecting my mental health, my work, my marriage, every aspect of my life. I am at a loss. Why did this suddenly come up? What caused it? Anyone gone through something similar?
